I'm not sure it's fair to say this song is underrated; I don't know any power metal fan who doesn't consider it one of the greatest tracks every recorded.
Absolutely agreed, his bassline in this song is extremely phenomenal, easily in the Top 5 (at the VERY least Top 7) metal performances, Top 3 if you only allow one entry per person. Ingo's drumming on here is otherworldly, too. Especially considering riding the double-bass drum for 5 minutes straight wasn't cliché in those days and he plays fills and shuffles like a madman. Then again, this song is probably the closest any band has ever managed to get "a musician's song" to be a fan favourite anyway (other than Metallica's Orion perhaps, but that's an instrumental track). It's basically a bloody jam session gone sing-along and that's fucking genius in itself. All of them are talented like hell and they decided to show it on here.
Without Helloween power metal wouldn't have been so power and also so melodic. Especially the two Keeper albums are still a big influence for many bands
Man, that drummer is something else. Fills all over the place and all of them technical. It's like all limbs need to be generating noise at all times and it's mind-boggling.
*-On this Fortieth Anniversary I Give Thanks To Whoever Discovered Me The Great Helloween And Above All Praise Power Metal Without Remembering The Great "Mr Smile" Ingo Fly High Friend..... Helloween.*
@@senseinuuh The 'stage' doesn't matter, only the quality does. Dragonforce are a joke compared to Helloween. Nobody will remember them. They might be more technically perfect, but their songs are forgettable.
@@ryanmcdaniel8574 it is a forgettable song, a passing success, eagle fly free is eternal, an unforgettable hymn and far superior to any dragonforce work
The LoveBites cover of this song got me here. Wow!!!! Just wow. Well done to both bands on this remarkable song. If you haven't heard it, listen to the LoveBites cover, they do it justice. Brilliant song, I am so sad I had never heard of Helloween before now.
