In the summer of 2007, the Chimney Complex Fire burned through Hells Canyon, removing overgrowth and revealing remnants of a historic Nez Perce fishing village believed to be an important trade location on the Lewis and Clark expedition. In May 2008, KTVB got an exclusive look at the camp and what archaeologists found there.

I love the pictographs. This is so cool. Some of my indigenous ancestors could have been there or created some of of those pictographs. It's placing yesterday with today and you can see it in this preservation of this spot. Very cool! Maybe I'm partial because my ancestors have been here since time immemorial but history is amazing and should not be forgotten. Thanks for sharing this. 🙂👍❤️
