He doesn't talk about it a ton, but me knowing his family, in addition to him, personally, this show has been good dream since he was a kid. I started working for him in 2004 and first heard the name HellsGate in 2005. His mom and aunt heard him talking about the concept as a kid. It changed a bit over the years, of course, but he gets emotional about it because it was his dream, and now it's a reality.

@@MistahWarner the problem with popular shows is at some point there's just no way to really counter wait times. They do have like a fast pass ticket that lets you skip lines for an extra fee. Other than that, even Disney and amusement parks still need to rely on just trying to optimize loading times and keep enough entertainment in the queuing area to try and make the wait tolerable.

@@BrightTiger61 all due respect, unless you've worked there, you've no idea what any of these people are paid. Having worked there and knowing the owner personally, I can tell you everyone is paid well above the industry standard. There are opportunities for bonuses for advertising and recruiting actors, as well as opportunities to learn trades like carpentry, set design, lighting, sound, effects makeup, entertainment management, and more. Even further, not only are they paid decently and have an opportunity to learn things, the haunt also gives these kids a safe space where they can be themselves, free from judgement. Everyone knows exactly what they be making and what's expected of them before they ever sign their contract. Sometimes, for some people, there are things that are more important than just money. Even on an ownership level, if you're getting into haunting for the money, you're getting into it for the wrong reason, any owner will tell you that. If you've got any more questions, feel free to ask.

As a Haunt actor myself, this owner is AMAZING. I would give anything to have a manager like that! What an absolute delight of a person! He cares so much and has such a fun personality! I love that they get hyped up before the show because we never got that. I wish I could work here more than anything in the world!

This is why this place is incredible, it’s because of John, his infectious energy and how he treats the people that work at his haunt. It is rare to see someone like John and the way he treats his actors. He gets them riled up and praises them and this is the reason why this haunt is as amazing as it is. Not to mention all of the people that scare there are top notch! I have to go, I live in South Bend Indiana so I am going to have to make a trip to Chicago to experience this for myself! 🖤

I went last Monday and the video can't even do this place justice. It is the best Haunted attraction I've ever been through. I went through it twice that night and still want to go back. Now this is what I've been hoping to see. Not just the business side, but the family that you become apart of. The pep talks, the jam session together, the personalized recognition for their work. Letting everyone know they're a unique part of this attraction. All that made this one stand out above the rest so far in this series. I am incredibly impressed: John's pep talk gave me goosebumps and inspired me, he is really good managing and working with his crew. What amazing great actors. I remember the walkthrough you did in the daytime, it was the first video I watched when I discovered the channel. I'm so glad you came back and were able to record this. To any and all folks from HellsGate reading my comment: Bravo! Pure adrenaline and I'm watching this on my laptop, the in-person experience would have to be 1,000x or 10,000x more intense. I disagree actually. To me he seemed a little fake with his over-the-top cheerfulness and gung-ho attitude. He reminded me of those corporate managers who talk about how "at corporation X we're all a big family" and trying to get kids hyped up to work for minimum wage. Plus there was something almost cult-like about the warmup and "pep talks". But maybe that's just me. Still a great haunt.

@@Slashco I give you credit for seeing this differently in a way I hadn't thought of it. Not having an actual in-person experience, or more to your point, working there. What I liked about the pep talks is that it motivates the actors and gives them that intangible sense of importance and appreciation which is smart from a corporation because you want a happy and engaged / motivated workforce... Hard to say where this is coming from: Either genuine gratitude or psychological manipulation, or a mix of both? It could be healthy form of manipulation as it brings together the workers themselves that are also being passionate about their work. I would expect that the true colors would show over time, and if it were horrible they'd not be growing and gaining a reputation. I wouldn't know... I don't live in the area and might never visit this haunt... What I will say is that I felt that John comes across as genuine as he is passionate about haunting at a deep driven level and cares that the customers get the best experience possible, but that's probably gullible me... LOL... and I hear you about the cult-like and cheesy platitudes... but as the leader, you have to say something... saying nothing would send a worse message. So, with personalities and work politics aside; I agree with you, looks like a great haunt.

Jeez Louise!! I heckin' LOVE the fog and green laser beam/lights area - it looks like you're wading through some mystical planet's swamplands, with scary AF creatures living just below the glowing, swirling surface! This haunt has some really dedicated scare actors and contortionists to pull from in ordef to put on SUCH a show! And all the stuff you go through BEFORE reaching the actual haunted house? Pure genius! And the rat hug at the end... awww!

This is literally the best haunted house Ive ever seen. It reminds me of a lot of good horror games I've seen, and some horror movies. The owner just gives off the best 'boss' ever with the call outs of encouragements to hyping his actors up before the show i never got that when i used to work at a haunt. The actors omg all their energy's were amazing the haunt itself was very intense even though im watching through a phone and i happen to fallow two maybe more of the actors that work here its so good to see them acting since im unable to travel to see them

I have watched you guys for a few years now and just love what you do. I have been to some haunts around the country and seen many on this channel. Of course I want to visit them all but after watching this video and the lights on video this is by far on the top of my list to visit. Hells gate is on it’s own level above all other haunts. The story is unique and not the same old stuff like Freddy or Jason or someone just throwing a mask on. Then you add the detailed costumes/makeup with the great acting and this place destroys all other haunts. Bravo hells gate and thank you Grimm life for taking us there.

That was such a good hype session, the director is fully invested in his haunt and his people. And the haunt speaks for itself. Loved watching the lights on tour, so it helped knowing the surroundings when visuals were strobed or there was so much to see! I want to rewatch the tour again and then rewatch this! So much atmosphere and detail, but I was impressed by the real fires- there’s nothing quite as visceral than real fire, and the atmosphere is truly complete!

This place just looks amazing and I wish I could visit it tomorrow with my mates. The cast, crew and owner are so enthusiastic and show so much pride in what they do and how the present the show. Visually stunning in everyway, from the trail leading up to the house and the house itself, they have put a lot of love into this production. And how good are the costumes, make up and props, the time you spent with the cast before the show, the makeup did not look that effective. But with the darkness and the lighting they worked with, as good as any Hollywood film. Well done to the team at HellsGate Haunted House, you guys rock and for allowing the Grimmlife Collective hosts, Michael and Jessica to have access and film your incredible place, thank you. Not sure where the Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, io, io, io ties in but definitely get the teams attention focused. Just wished we has something like this here in Oz! I was so impressed by Hellsgate that I still remembered it from the last video you guys did there. This tour made me love the place even more. I have to say that this one and the one in Salt Lake City are the two haunted attractions I want to visit the most.

Oh they get a lot more than that. Kids names, workplace, pets names...it gets REALLY fun, especially when the subject isn't aware of what's happening.

@@xanderharris1104 all the information you're looking for is here. Pay special attention to the banner about parking over the calendar. There is no parking on site, but if you click that banner, it'll give you the address to park at and a bus will pick you up there and take you to the haunt. Buy your tickets in advance too, as they're limiting sales each night, and check HellsGate's social media accounts for discount codes.

That was amazing! There had to be more the 140 scare actors in that place. Looked more like 500. The two girls flying off the platform in the beginning of the house part was insane.

I have visited "Haunted Houses" all my life and some were pretty intense. But these actors here at "Hell's Gate" as so good, as well as all the tech and set people.........I wouldn't have lasted the first ten minutes. Outstanding, thanks for taking us along!

I went to this haunt last night. It did NOT disappoint! The Dragon room was my absolute favorite and the Spider room TOTALLY freaked me out! I loved it! Keep of the great work! Can’t wait to come back next year! 🖤
