Helmet Cam: Munson Slew (Preliminary Horse Championship | 2019 American Eventing Championships) 

I have never seen anyone catch up to someone on a cross country course. EESH! Well ridden and he was heckin fast!

I love how she encourages her horse even when he missed strides or he nicked his feet that’s what I love about some equestrians some others unfortunately hurt there horse or yell at them with they do something wrong but this made me smile so that you for this video 💗

Wow! I love how when you are half way over the jump, in mid air, you’re already looking around and planning your next move. That, kids, is the mind of a champion.

I saw you on the livestream! The announcers seemed pretty peeved as well about the people on the course. You and Slew Killed it!

We'll jump tables, logs and logs into water, but heaven forbid there be a trash can coming home!! He seemed to pick his feet up after a few times of knocking his toes on them. But he really handled himself well, even when he jumped 1/2 a stride off, he really stepped up and jumped it well anyway. So proud to see Munson Slew's progress with you!! How you are working with Eton this year, really helped me with a stud Hanovarian that I had from the beginning of May to Thursday the 22nd of August. He was recovering from a tendon injury that needed surgery on it, but he had a very high flight response just like Eton. So I took a page from your training techniques, and when he went home, he had manners on the ground and was truely a gentleman. I guess the owner really liked how well I did with him, because there was a bit of a surprise in my final payment for the work done!! Munson loves this event. I have to tell you, watching via the helmet cam as you went through this course with his speed and hearing your breathing caused all kinds of anxiety for me. I caught myself lifting as you came to each jump as if I was helping you get over them. LOL! Great video none-the-less.

We were at Badminton this year. Some jackass dropped his hat into the path of a horse and rider. Instead of leaving it he went to get it, straight into the path of the horse. I have never been so close to death-by-horse/ death-by-stupidity

Last year at a competition my horse was moving uncharacteristically fast and we ended up catching up to another rider. There was no room to pass them so I had to slow down, do a circle, and then finish the last jump. Honestly that was my favorite moment just because that was the competition just after I had been disqualified at another.

Can you do a video with the go pro on your chest or what ever it is coz that would be so cool also Munson is amazing

What the heck!!! This was new for him right? In theory. He had a very smooth ride. Maybe he is weaning off of your aids getting more confident in himself again. You have certainly given him am awesome training. One more like that and maybe he can move up? Or does he need more dressage training? That's always the foundation score anyway. Wow go munson he flew around that cross country! He went like a racehorse! When a thoroughbred is in a full gallop there is no stopping them they love to run. Even the slow ex racehorses are fast! The girl on the horse in front is meant to get out of the way at least that is how I remember it to be when I evented in the 80's. I passed others and yelled at them to get out of the way and I had the same happen to me, I am ashamed to say! I guess if you had passed her she would have moved aside. People strolling about! I thought they blew whistles or shouted out rider coming! Where were the jump stewards? That person could have gotten bowled or Munson could have checked himself and fell.

i ride horses often.. but when i did jump races my phone fell infront of the horse and it stepped on it now i have it hanging on my wall xD and don't ask me how i hang it up.. haha

God, Munson is either very fast or they didn’t work out the time between each rider right because you could have easily ended up over taking them!

Question: is it allowed to pass the starter in front of you if you catch him or do you have to stay behind him? in the TREC, for example, he has to give you space so that you can pass if he has problems to overcome the obstacle. 🤔 (sry for my bad English 😅)

That is one swell horse. When you first started working with him, you said he seemed a bit insecure, but now he's like, "Bring it on, Mom. If things go a bit awry, you can count on me to make minor adjustments on the fly." It's a great partnership. Munson trusts you and wants you to feel comfortable trusting him, so everyone can move forward boldly.

Well done! I was spectating Wednesday and dearly wished they would have roped or ground-painted a few safe places for spectators to stand. We lost our course map and not everyone took the same routes! I wound up skulking from tree to tree to fence judge trying to stay out of the way.......

I was wondering what you'd say about some of the distances as you always question your riding😁. I would describe that as the partnership coming together. You trusted him to jump and he trusted you that he could . Waiting for Sharpie now.

Wow you two had a great ride looks like so much fun and he is so brave and seems to really enjoy his new job. I never had the privilege to ride a thoroughbred but would love too, I always had quarter horses. We use to have one of us be the fox and we would chase them through the woods and over whatever was there which was a lot of fun but nothing like your cross country courses. Have fun and be safe.
