I am obsessed with Helmet. I am a Black American Women that loves hard rock and metal music and Helmet is still the best rock band of all modern day times period. I know greatness when I see it and Page Hamilton is still at age 55 years young is a unique and Great versatile musician. PAGE HAMILTON is not a one trick pony of a musician too. Page Hamilton voice changes according to the mood of the kind of theme of the music he is singing to. Page Hamilton is super sexy and awesome.
@brutality707, those are the people that most likely got into this band way too late in the game and are bitter that they missed the boat that is 90's Helmet. "Betty" is obviously their best record - a band that the pinnacle of their game. Easily, the best guitar tone for a heavy band on that record. And to the dude who posted this show - I LOVE YOU
i,d like to know how he does those weird chords from 1:20 to 1:40 every helmet song i hear it and i wanna nail that style i know quicksand and hum do it to
almost all their songs are in drop D and as far as I can tell he's just barring the lowest three strings for almost everything. It kinda sounds like a fucked up Sus chord or something to me, so I bet its just like barring the high strings and moving like 2 or 3 fingers to add more dissonance
Secret is learning chord extensions in Drop tunings then learn what notes make what sounds/melodies you got in your head after becoming heavily familiarized [maybe obsessed 😅]. Cheers from el paso mane
helmet is so underrated considering the talent of page hamilton. man i love the 90s. even if you heard a new song for the first time you'd know what band performed it. nowadays everyone sounds the same.
Is there a way you could rip the audio of this show and have a place to download it? I'd love to take this show with me since you did an amazing job at recording it.
@brutality707 I think Betty is an awesome album! Better than Meantime? I don't know as that album was a compact grenade going off in your head when you heard it whereas Betty takes some time to absorb as there are a lot more layers and a lot more going on in general. If anything, the difference between them shows that they were willing to take chances and mess with the formula to come out with a smarter bomb, one that kills with finesse. Both are amazing albums from an amazing band.
Hey some awesome footage of this awesome band Denco83, thanx for uploading this.....I play drums to Helmet about once a week just to remind me how hard I can get my point across if I have to ha ha ha ha (Stanier-Style!) BOOOM, CRASH THUD!!! This shit is seriously some of the baddest of the day, man...I never get tired of 'em.
Awesome,so kick ass.Man this brings me back, anytime I hear Ironhead I think of the Reading Festival in 94, Helmet kicked their set off with it,the dust the ensued from the front of the stage 2 sec. into the song from 40K people going at it was epic, and it never let up.This is from when Helmet was at their best, the Betty tour, nobody imho has come close since. Thanks for this additional gem to your already steller Helmet repertoire.
Man, I started thrashing around on my couch a little bit while watching this. Going from the slow dirge of Tic into the sped up thrash of Ironhead was a nice touch - lulling the crowd into complacency, then getting 'em riled up again.
