William: Has dead wife and a clown loving daughter and (depending on when his son died) a dead son and traumatized son, and has killed several children including his business partner's daughter and has made a literal deathtrap weak to water to wear. Also William: Creates Karen the computer wife and makes her blind and kidnap kids, and creates a clown robot who kidnaps kids with ice cream and makes it for his daughter and subsequently loses his daughter on the opening day. Also sends traumatized son in to get his sister which leads to eldest son being gored and piloted until his body bruises and rots to become unrecognizable. He proceeds to try and break all his creations when they are haunted and jumps in the deathtrap with the leaking roof and likely already wet springlocks. William may know machines but he either can't figure out how to program a safety measure or how to pay attention to Elizabeth enough to not realize the red flags, or realize that Mike might be in serious danger, or that his younger son could actually be possibly salvaged after at least Circus Baby's closed down and he realized that Circus Baby could be haunted. He just stopped giving a flip or never gave a flip about his kids even slightly. Or he is the dumbest genius in fiction.
