HELP! I Have A Bald Spot | Week In My Hair Ep. 8 

I have a couple of notes that may be causing it but of course non are a definite answer. What I've notice is high manipulation ( Not wearing hair in natural state for a long time) and hair products have been the cause for many other black women including myself having the issue with these spots/ thinning. Wearing our hair in ponytails also tends to make this issue worse.And braids even knotless puts too much pressure on our scalp. I don't want to be a hypocrite by telling you what to do however I have noticed these things in my hair and other black women that I have talked to. I have noticed I didn't have this issue when I use to have my hair twisted up under a wig but the last few years I have really gained a liking for my natural hair and styling it in many different ways. Along with that came this issue that you are dealing with though. Moral of the story when we leave our hair alone it thrives but when we start to mess with it we have to deal with these unfortunate consequences. Tbh I pray over mine and I stopped using hard gels like edge control and freeze gels.

Tension on the hair/scalp can do that. The thing with ponytail ,is that your hair/scalp is being pulled on , even if you don’t “feel it “. Parting often ,in the same spot ,kinda does the same thing ,as your hair needs a break and the scalp will too. It’s obviously better safe than sorry to go get a check up , hopefully everything is all good and maybe vitamins to digest or apply on hair/scalp will do the trick . *I only know hair stuff from experiences and hair stylist tips *

I have two random bald spots out of nowhere. I started going to a dermatologist for scalp injections, but it didn't help me unfortunately 😢 Neither did all the oils, grease or Rogaine

I had some issues with hair loss last year I had started taking hair vitamins thinking that would fix but when it didn't I went to see my regular doctor that did testing and a trichologist to find out why I was losing my hair and I was told that my iron was very low seeing a doctor could help you to narrow down if it's something serious or not

This has happened to me before in the same exact spot and a few others throughout my hairline and scalp. I’m pretty sure it was because of birth control as i just started taking them a few week prior to noticing the bald spot. I am a licensed cosmetologist and practice proper hair care so I’m pretty sure it was the BC that did it. My hair went back to normal after I stopped taking them.
