I love how in the original OGN, Mario’s voice samples are from TSMBSS and Luigi’s voice is just normal Luigi. But in this cover, Luigi’s voice is from TSMBSS and Mario’s voice is normal.
I Could imagine the story is quite simple Mario is extremely egotistical in this thinking he is the best and wants to always be in the spotlight and makes sure no one else gets any especially Luigi and despite Luigi actually having a proper reason to beat the shit out of Mario in this version of events he doesn't he takes it and usually is sad a lot of the time but that doesn't matter because Mario feels Luigi could easily if given enough time could take his spotlight away from him and drag him into the shadows and he will not have that so he pretends like the Princess has be captured and actually for once allows Luigi to come along with him which would make Luigi extremely excited he finally gets to help his beloved brother and hang out with him for once But sadly that isn't the case on their "Journey to save Peach" lots of stuff happens like Mario trying to push Luigi into pits and failing while playing it off like it was an accident but Luigi over time would get weirded out and suspicious of his brother but he would push it to the back of his mind cause his brother would never do that he loves him and he shouldn't think like that but then they get to a Castle Luigi would be confused on how there is nobody there and then Mario would turn around slowly and say something like "Did you really think I'd EVER! let you TAKE! my spotlight?" Anyway that is it hope people can understand what I am trying to say

Story (Remake):Oh dear!Mario has gone missing!And Koopa is back at it again!And it's up to Luigi to find Mario and save him and the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom!..but,all of the Yoshies were trapped in a Yoshi Egg,seven of which were in a fortress of an koopaling,but in every world,Luigi never found Mario (I think of this as a mix of Mario is Missing and Super Mario World)..until Luigi found a key in an abandoned ship,there,Luigi has entered a secret path to another fortress,which confused to plumber because,weren't there seven of them..?Oh well,Luigi went through and through until he entered the boss room...there was Mario!...but,why does he look angry? The red plumber finally convinced Luigi that he was never missing in the first place,in fact,Mario,the hero we all know and loved,player one,betray the Mushroom Kingdom and joined Koopa,though the main reason why Mario said "I trusted you!" is because our green,lean,sidekick was actually jealous of Mario's fame (but unlike the OG,where Mario was unaware until Luigi betrayed Mario,Mario was fully aware of it and brags about it),although Luigi was jealous,our cowardly,green plumber wasn't too jealous to the point of hatred,though he did join Koopa,but he was unsure if it was the right thing to do,but after seeing how he's slowly gaining the same love and fame as he's brother to the point of Luigi joining back with the Mushroom Kingdom,in fact,he even has a princess of he's own,which is Daisy,similar to Mario towards Toadstool (...but it's more one sided),during Super Mario Land,Mario,out of annoyance,had to save the princess (unknown why Luigi didn't...maybe because he was thinking about joining Koopa's side),the red plumber was sick of having to do the same cycle over and over,but now with someone else (but he wasn't aware that Daisy wasn't kidnapped much often then Toadstool),Mario then use manipulation,saying "Oh Daisy!Daisy!Daisy!" to think Daisy was special...but later,she sees Luigi as her type,despite her tomboyish personality and he's (Luigi) cowardly personality,she loved Luigi,and he loved Daisy Here we are...two plumbers on a bridge,one picks fight,the other picks flight,who will fall to the boiling lava and die? (Spoiler:Mario dies :P)
I like the idea of making the swapped Luigi have an SMW cartoon chromatic, but it sounds rather clunky. You could've just used Misfire's Soul Luigi chromatic.

Mario has every right to be mad at Luigi, Luigi didn't just betray Mario but also Peach, Toad, Yoshi, and even Daisy by siding with Bowser. Even if he survived he would be executed for high treason and all of his friends would despise him, Luigi has gone from being Mario's shadow to being a monster. He isn't sweating from guilt, he is sweating out fear.
