Lone Star Living glad to be back. Can’t wait to get on with some big projects. We have several new builds coming up soon. New cellar/spring house, new wood working shop, new saw mill shack, and new timber frame house. Thanks for hanging in there with us.
Diversified Acres Homestead sounds great! Looking forward to it! I just haven’t had the motivation to make anything lately. Kinda been in a rut. Plus my job is pretty demanding of my time these days.
I know this is old, but I have the CAT 257 B, & I'm trying to figure out how to service the drive. I think its failing, so I want to check the oil. If gray, then probably bearing going or gone. It chunks of steer, probably gear.
Mine has a o ring in it. I've replanted it 3 times. I cut a wrench down to kind of work but its like I can't get it tight enough. I blew the o ring in a half of day the last time I fixed it.
that fitting is a JIC fitting, it is machine fit like a propane fitting, if you can turn it with a channel lock it is not tight,,, there is no o-ring seal in it,, it is not an o-ring bose fitting they have to be tight,, no need to jack it up, put timbers under the back end and push down with the loader and you can lift it way up in the air, I use 8x88 timber and block it right up to the bottom, that drive motor is a lot more then $2000, you can rebuild it your self for around $1000, this is what I do not like about Cat is they run them hoses on the out side of the frame for rocks to beat the hell out of them, the could at least have a metal gard on them, witch I have made, others have the hoses in side and a get to them from under the seat or panel, as the sand and rocks are always cutting them up or braking off fittings, if I recall it should be an 1-1/8 wrench, off set, but you need to remove the return line to get in there, the line with the clamp
They all have o rings. And the line with the clamp is the parking break. A little over $600 for those 4 hoses, & I had to buy 8 o-rings... And you are correct, we'll this is old video lol but that hydraulic drive motor is $4100
I have this exact same skid steer... When your boom is all the way down, do your loader arms touch the front of the cab? Mine seems to have very very little clearance.
