I agree. I had the vinyl bootleg of this 10 or 11 years before it was released. It was titled "Grateful Dead Hot as Hell" I almost fainted when I heard this "Franklins Tower" on the radio in 1990 or 91. I went right out and bought the CD. Now I have the MP3.

Yes and it really was by invitation only. Record execs and the like. It was supposedly their way of introducing the album and I'm guessing their return from hiatus although they really didn't ramp up long tours for a year a two after this. There is also a funny story (In Billy's book) about Billy Kruetzman and a friend racing through the Bay area back to Billy's house after the gig reaching like a hundred MPH. They are lucky they didn't kill themselves.

Whoa. This is transcendent. (I don't even know if THAT word is an accurate description of this. This is amazing, magnificent. The best of this trilogy I've ever heard. So passionate, powerful and intense.i mean, I like some of the longer triptychs, but this one is singular. It may be shorter, but it's incendiary. It's awesome. It's interstellar and intergalactic. This is spectacular.)

Luckily, I was "introduced" to them either in junior high or high school. My man's dad says he only likes "Truckin"" and I think that is so lame! But at least it made me feel superior, lmfao j/k If any of you deadheads would like to be FB friends HMU the name is Amber Golightly.....and I have an astrology group as well as a group for venting called "That's Some Bullshit!" This is quite the version for it being the first. I love how the Dead showed all their new stuff that just came out on "Blues for Allah" in 75 in this concert. This show definitely has the definitive Help / Slip / Franklin's, Sugaree, and Crazy Fingers. I may prefer the Help / Slip / Franklins and the Eyes of the World from 5/22/77 (Penbroke Pines, Dick's Picks 3), but this is probably the "best". This early "The Music Never Stopped" is great, but I prefer the classic 5/8/77 version. -Dublin
