Oh my god, when Angela is yelling at her boss "i would gladly take my severance pakage, but that would prevent me from sueing your asses." Is such a tiny detail for most people. But thats true to life. Most, i would say all but i dont want to generalize too much, companies that do severance packages make them nice and cushy so that it seems like a really good deal. But when you sign to accept it, you also waive all rights to pursue legal action against the company or any employee of the company and even related companies for anything that happened while you were employed. Dont fucking sign shit when you leave a job or get fired, get a lawyer and read every single word of any paperwork they try to get you to sign. Also "you must sign or we will withold your final paycheck." Is wage theft, they legally have to pay you for any time you worked for them and after a certain amount of time they owe you more money on top. Laws vary by state, know the laws and dont let corporations bully you!
Thing is even if it's illegal, they can afford better lawyers than you that will drag things out as long as possible to drain your funds/keep from getting you your money as long as possible. It's like ERB is using the Tarzan trademark as a weaker copyright, where you can write/draw/make movies/etc about Tarzan because it's in the public domain but you can't use the word "Tarzan" in the title or advertising because it's trademarked, and American courts have already ruled that you can't use trademark as copyright, but someone would have to take ERB to court and they have better lawyers. (And yes, all of this DOES go against the spirit of why copyright and trademark were created in the first place, thanks for asking!) Disney is one of the few that could do it but they're planning to do the same thing with the Mickey Mouse trademark if he ever enters public domain (that's if, not when, Disney keeps paying congress to extend copyright longer than it's ever supposed to be), so they don't want to set that precedent for their own stuff. So in the end, it's only illegal if you lose in court.
I love that the Interceptor is called Javert and calls Trevor by a number just like in Les Miserables, but it also feels like a reference to "The Prisoner" television show from 1967. The main character, called Number Six (which they also seem to be referencing with the Arcadia Six), is trapped in The Village from which he can't escape, and he famously says "I am not a number, I am a free man".
The even funnier implication is that Les Mis is an actual thing that exists in this universe. Another example of Walton media being incapable of making something original.
Someone mentioned the similarity to The Island (2005) in the first video that I immediately caught too. Calling the people by numbers is also a thing there. Seems like The Island took inspiration from The Prisoner (or maybe they both had the same inspiration).
I really loved the twist with the security chief. It explained why he was so damn over the top and cliché, where I just blamed it on the overall theme of Arcadia. Beautifully done.

Wow the world of this game is SO fleshed out! All the detail and history that you get to explore when in the museum portion. Props to the game creators to building such an in depth world and story for 'Dystopian Disney Escape!'
Its SO nice to see a game actually take the effort to properly get the things its parodying accurate. You see this alot when it comes to mascot horror, alot of the time the Corporations in them feel vague and non descript, but this game really makes immersed in this world
There probably was an easter egg about an upcoming game in the museum. After all, there was a hidden achievement in Call of The Sea that showed gameplay footage from American Arcadia.

I went and watched the Call of the Sea playthrough and there's a (spoiler) line from Nora about the enslaved fish people: "if you don't know you're in prison, are you really a prisoner?". Makes me wonder if that influenced this game at all!

I see this as a jab at D in all. There is too many liknessess to that company. The founder starting with something else, two brothers working together in the company, Epcot and so on. I too looked at that model and immediatly thought "Epcot"! A dog as a symbol instead of a mouse. Timeless classics, Elijah Walton instead of Walter (Walt) Elias D. Dies before his city was built. Maybe I´m reading too much into this? A difference; Roy D. scrapped Epcot after Walts death in reality.

It could also be a reference to Henry Ford's city, which was super fascist and restrictive to go with the theme of capitalism. But of course Disney is the bigger reference: WALT(on) media.

The theme park ride at the beginning feels inspired by a number of disney attractions. The Great Hollywood movie tour in hollywood studios orlando (RIP), and the People Mover in Magic Kingdom orlando specifically the section where they look at the old diorama of EPCOT from its planning stages as an Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. It originally was going to be a whole community instead of a theme park!
Yes! I just came here to comment something very similar. It also reminds me of The Carousel of Progress ride at Tomorrowland in Disney World. Walt was really big on progression of society and culture, and if he’d lived long enough to see Epcot become a community we may have ended up living the storyline of this game.
It's crazy that this was relatively some of the ideas behind what would become Epcot... Disney had pitched it as a city to celebrate the science and methods of living for tomorrow, to experiment and create viable solutions for things that plagued the world of his time and hopefully solve them before they ever became bigger... but money never quite came around and no one signed on because of that price tag...

The attention to detail in this game is amazing! At 23:23 there is a newspaper article in Italian, which says "Stellino piange" - meaning "Comet cries". Except!! The actual translation of Stellino is "little star (male)", but that feels EXACTLY like the kind of name people would have come up with for him in Italy. It feels so realistic wow
Theres a young adult or it might be a kids chapter book, but its called Running Out of Time written by Margaret Peterson Haddix. It is both incredibly similar to this game and very very different. It gets much darker with what happens to the people "inside the dome". But its an awesome read for anyone who is interested.
Honestly, considering the circumstances, Trevor probably gave one of the best answers he could've given in that situation. What he wanted more than anything else was to just LEAVE Arcadia. He didn't want to play Vivian's game, but he also understands that there's no way he can 'free' the Arcadians. Vivian would just try to twist his actions, and it's not his responsibility. By telling the audience to fuck off, he makes it 100% clear that he's not playing Vivian OR the audience's game. He wants a peaceful life, and that's what Vivian has to give to him. We see how unhinged he is right now, if she tries to block him, there's a high chance that he'll actually just straight up attack her. The most peaceful option is also what she did in response to Angela suing them. Give them money and leave them alone. The audience will lose interest in Trevor eventually, and he'll get that peaceful life he wanted. On another note, now that we know that number 6 was just Vivian the whole time, it really shines a new light on what she says to Trevor on the water tower. All she talks about is what the others left behind in Arcadia; the car, the graffiti, she never talks about what their lives are like in the outside world. The other members could be having decent lives, and there was nothing stopping her from going to them for support. She went back to Arcadia because she was just completely stuck in the past. She wasn't 'forced' to by the outside world, she did that on her own.
Not really, her directions are forward/back and left/right, she can only go up/down when there are stairs and such, and considering I don't think there's ever anything UNDER the stairs, that bit of up/down is meaningless. If Angela was 3d she'd have a jump button and vertical obstacles to clear. (And you know they take place at the same time right)

I don’t even have words for how good this was! It was like watching a really great movie (makes sense, the Truman show and all that). Definitely gonna play it myself!!!
the really funny part about Gabs commenting on how fast Angela talks in Spanish is that is exactly the average reaction Puerto Ricans get about our speech lmao kudos to the devs for that bit about the VHS being original Puerto Rican dub, as well! We used to have our own dubbing studios.

yea I was a bit sad the game didn't have a fully fleshed out ending after what he did, but I think they were trying to make a point with what Trevor yelled out.

This game was QUITE the journey. I had no idea it would end the way it did, but Trevor is just the best. This was definitely, and surprisingly, one of my games of the year that I did not play myself.

Nothing but praises for this game. The beautiful narrative, the fantastic settings, the loveable characters, the funny but admittedly cheesy dialogue, the cute pop culture references-- This game knocked it out of the park. Such an interesting, unique and strong concept that they perfectly brought to life within a five hour experience of gaming. The perfect combination of puzzle gaming but exceptionally gripping storytelling with a chef's kiss ending to seal the deal. This game is easily a 10/10 tbh. I'm going to be rewatching this game for years as a comfort thing, it's so good LOL.
I visited Tomorrowland at Disney World and this is so reminiscent of that!! Specifically the People Mover ride and the Carousel of Progress come to mind while watching the ride she gets on after using the speedpass. The Walton and Ace statue is a direct reference to Walt Disney and Mickey’s statue- a lot of of it is in reference to Disney, but it’s done so well and has it’s own unique spin. Bendy and The Ink Machine didn’t do as well at referencing Disney while having its own standout lore, but Cuphead did, and now American Arcadia joins the ranks! 24:39

i LOVE the little quips they gave to Angela, with her cursing in Spanish and showing her Puerto Rican pride 😊 the voice actress for her is Cuban but her accent was amazing! as someone who's Puerto Rican from my mother's side, they did a very good job with casting an actual Latina! also, the cat isn't named Linda, she was saying "who's a pretty girl? it's you, isn't it?" Linda is Spanish for pretty :•) i don't remember the timestamp she said that, but i think it was earlier on in the video.
This is so well executed! I love the way Arcadia emulates old cartoons, film and especially Walt Disney. I also love how the adverts and footage are foreshadowing to the next chapter, and the imagery was instantly recognizable as the 70s. The story had me hooked, with elements of sitcom, nuclear family facade blending with the intriguing atmosphere of games like Playdead’s Inside. A really thoughtful game, and I also love atmospheric games in general, but the blend of tension and exploration was really well balanced and the lore there was to explore definitely fascinated me! Gab’s playthrough was perfect for this, too, as she took the time to really immerse in the story I felt. I really enjoyed following along with this x
The security guards call him "ten-three-ninety-two" like that's supposed to MEAN something to him. Dude grew up in Arcadia being called Trevor, they should be calling him Trevor if they want him to know they mean him rather than it being a case of mistaken identity. Amateurs!
i wonder if disney is gonna have a problem with this game because its very obviously based on the disney company. i mean, "walton" and walt disney, walt disney wanted to put disney world under a dome and create a perfect place, the disney neighborhoods that people live in outside of disney world, the little comet mascot being a dog vs of course mickey mouse. its all a little too similar lmaooo but this game was so incredible and kudos to the creators for making such an awesome experience
Parody is protected from copyright shenanigans, so they're fine. I mean, Disney probably doesn't *like* it, but they don't have a legal leg to stand on.

I've gotta say, I watched both gameplay videos straight with no cuts and it was just too good. The art, animation, creativity, parallels to the real world - you can definitely tell they put so much work into this game. Loved Gab's commentary throughout the videos, especially when Trevor was running from the interceptors loll
Also honestly the first time I watched a playthrough of this game I knew Vivian was manipulating Trevor with the failsafe button thing the moment she brought it up. It's kinda obvious she WANTS him to push the button, she brings it up out of basically nowhere and lays on the reverse psychology pretty thick. If they wanted to make it less obvious they should have just left the info in a file somewhere or something.
I have been checking twitch aaaalll Saturday waiting for the stream, it was so much fun! The game is amazing and I was constantly in awe how you managed to time all the jumps and hide from the bad robocops. Loved the plot, checking in to like the upload! WOAH! That story is crazy, so many twists and turns! I was shocked by the vivian reveal, I mean I knew there was one more plottwist coming but I did not expect that, I still have so many questions about the logistics though 🤣🤣
Oooh, I loved Gregory Peck, especially as Atticus Finch in 'To Kill a Mockingbird'. I was heartbroken when he died. :( EDIT: I realise now that he was put in a fake film for their last game haha. Great choice of actor, though. Kudos to the devs for their good taste!
Man I thought the Disney/Tomorrow Land/Epcot connections were strong in the first part but BOY did they drop all pretenses of subtly. It's good though, very well done. Not a lot of games can do that well without breaking immersion and making you roll your eyes.

In all honesty I was not expecting an initially sponsored game to be this good! There was clearly so much passion put into it with all the visuals and diverse game mechanics and nuanced storyline… I loved every second of it

To think that, and I assumed, /he/ had to fake being found out or faked telling his friend to drive better😂 or when Trevor debunk on interview that he was not unstable, at least not not yet- referring to when he went nuts later on. Orrr seeing the cop dude appear knowing he’s an actor lmaoo And you guessed so many things right along the wayyy

god this game is hilarious and works on so many levels and i especially love the whole background story of the guard breaking his leg and his friend taking it personally when mocked about it
