Some horses are more than willing and come running when I show up and then others horses couldn’t care less about my arrival and just want to continue grazing!
Wish one of our horses would be lol. He often pulls his glue ons off. And he needs to get high as a kite to let a farrier or vet near him 😩. Never had anything bad happen outside of vaccinations and stuff. Just doesn’t like them for whatever reason
@@sixionzear6329was he brought up seeing the farrier often or no ? If not , I can see why. It’s like going to the dr. No one really likes going but if u have been several times ur not as nervous or scared .
@@amandacrawford4748 every 5 weeks generally. When we have some of the horses feet done the others just get a quick look to make sure nothings going on. I’ve been wondering if maybe it’s because he doesn’t really have a bond with them. He does tend to be more sensitive with strangers. He’s just much more so with the farrier and vet. He’s not tried to hurt them but he’ll dance all day on the cross ties.
These young farriers are a brilliant new breed. They give life back to these animals that otherwise would be facing euthanasia. You're amazing, God sent. Thanku😊
You are so kind, 👍🙏 been in the industry 30 years now , excited to be able to offer options that I believe a going to more common in the future. Right now most of the industry turns it back on things that are not traditional. As new generations of farriers and hoof care providers, veterinarians and horse owners become increasingly aware of other types of materials and benefits it will become increasingly more common is my hope . Have a blessed day🙏
@@LocalFloridaMan24 Yes, it is a job, that is the entire point of a job. You aren't going to work hard for something and get paid in nothing. You can do generous things without being paid, but you still need to make money. He makes money AND helps animals, 2 birds, 1 stone
@@LocalFloridaMan24Yes, many large animals and their care are expensive. Wouldn't really be vital to cheap out on their health if you wish for them to thrive and not end up with an animal cruelty charge, but just because of the high cost (that is a stated given) doesn't mean all vets are all trying to swindle you like some of our people doctors (and insurance) try to.
I really love the technology that evolved for horses and other animals to make their lives a little bit better so they don’t have to suffer when something goes wrong. I really do appreciate and admire the work you all do.
I used to be a hand at a horse board and stable, I used love when the farriers would show up. It was always great because they were super nice dudes and it was just fascinating to watch them work but also because instead of walking the fields looking for missing shoes, breaking the ice out of the troughs or mucking out 100 stalls I got to stand there and hold the horses for them while they worked lol
I got to see a farrier once when I was taking lessons and it was super fascinating to little kid me. I don’t have the stomach to do it myself but mad respect for them. The guy explained some of the stuff he was doing to me too.
I’m training to be a farrier right now, and it’s true! I had a customer bring in pizza because one of the men helped with their horse. It’s a very personal and up-close job, so it’s very natural for farriers to be some of the nicest and welcoming people you can meet in a job like that.
First time I read this I said "woah, he explained the things he was doing to him/her? " Situation where a slight change in a sentence makes all the difference lolll
As a human with naturally thin nails i choose to wear acrylic nails. It prevents mine from tearing. These custom? shoes remind me of this but with the benefit of allowing that part of the 'nail' to harden. Amazing!
My granny swears that eating jello helped her skin and nails grow healthier and stronger. She was on a special diet and one of the things she could eat often was gelatin. I believe fish oil is good for them as well. For a quick fix, you can use nail strengthening lacquer/polish and it really helps to keep nails from breaking as easily. My nails are fairly brittle at times but if they get wet they're so flimsy they end up bending wrong if I'm not careful.
@kerseykrewzoo Well, gelatin is basically collagen, as it's ligament tissues from animals (at least natural gelatin is). It makes sense, honestly. You'd have to find gelatin that uses actual animal collagen (usually from pigs and cows, I believe). Collagen supplements should help a bit with some of this, as well. You can easily find collagen supplements that also have B vitamins and the like. Vitamin E and A would also help. My mom has naturally thin nails, too, and so always wore acrylic nails. I'm beginning to have similar issues as I'm aging up, despite having thick and strong nails for the initial 25 years of my life. My mom swears by tea tree oil, but I don't know as much about the interaction of that to say.
My nails have always been naturally thin as well. I used to wear acrylic nails as well, but that made it worse. So now I use the Gel X nails. They last just as long and you don’t have to do so much filing of your natural nails. I take a great collagen supplement, and all my vitamin levels are excellent. It’s just something that occurs naturally with some people. That’s just like hair density. Some people have ridiculously thick/dense hair all their lives and others have really thin/sparse hair. Fortunately I have pretty dense hair. My nails just didn’t get the memo. I take the supplement for my skin and hair moreso than my nails. I’ve tried everything from strengthening nail polish to gelatin (animal derived), castor oil, vitamin A, D, E and iron supplements and anything else you can think of. It never worked. So I just get them done biweekly and go about my business lol. It’s not something that I can control. And yes, I have a healthy diet as well.
God bless you for helping this horse in its time of need. I can only imagine that the horse is experiencing much less pain now. The horse has a new lease on life.
Awesome! In the old days the horse would simply get a pad (a sole) between hoof and shoe, with gel between hoof and pad. The horse shoe you sculpture is amazing!
Simply amazing. 54 and had ponies as a kid ans remember the gentleman coming occasionally to trim their hooves and shoe them but never saw anything like that hoof or the remedy. After all we've put animals thru its nice to see when our technology helps them ❤
It’s amazing what can be done for animals! Prosthetics for dogs and all kinds of animals are definitely life changing and sometimes even life saving! So appreciate the people who have the talent to do this work. Many thanks! ❤❤
It's really quite remarkable to see what you are able to do for horses that would otherwise be lame. I am filled with joy seeing the work you and your team are doing for these horses. Thanks for showing the horse's progress. Hello from coastal Connecticut, USA.⚘️⚘️
I normally don’t comment on stuff like this. But I really don’t know what it was that just struck me with watching him do this for the horse. It just really shows how much he cares for them, all that effort really shows what type of amazing man he is. Keep doing what your doing❤❤❤
Hello, yes, this is a new technique using a heat gun to plastic weld the cuff to a urethane shoe and then using superglue to attach it to the hoof wall. Like anything new, it can often have a lot of criticism. I too, was very skeptical of the process, now I am truly amazed at how well these techniques works and the horses appreciate this as an option.
I remember standing on tip toes to watch the blacksmith at work the fire and sparks made my day as a 4 year old. I wish they could have seen 70 years on
WOW!!!!! I am not easily impressed but I am in awe of the skill level, access to technological advances, and devotion required to help this horse heal! It is so gratifying to have a way to see things we’d never have known were possible via RU-vid. Thank you for sharing your vocation. My world just got a bit brighter watching this. I’m about as city as they get and at nearly 60, do not expect that to change. Your efforts are appreciated.
Awesome Work, Thank You so Much for Sharing This!!❤ Many, ,many Decades ago, horses would be sent to the "kill-pen" for having such a thin sole, ~ because they would not be able to do the work required of them... (Often Lame, due to the Owner not Understanding!!) Showjumping, Cross Country,, Dressage or maybe Three Day Eventing!! It's Incredible to be able to witness the New and Painless Technology in Hoof Care!! Blessings to you and yours!!❤ A Good Farrier is Worth their Weight in Gold,,❤ A Great Farrier is Worth the Horses weight in Gold,, and More!!❤ You,Sir are in the Second Category!❤
Wow ! Appreciate the kind words. Often times when things are approached differently that people expect they write in comments that not as encouraging as yours . Have a blessed day 🙏
I’m so happy that they used glue-ons instead of the actual nail shoes. Oftentimes causing more damage than helping. I love the more natural approach. 💕
Damn homie done switch'd up the horse shoe game and came with a pair Nike air maxes for his horses, NICE AF WE SEE YA MAYNE!!!! IN ALL HONESTY THIS MOST LIKELY IS A BIG COMFORT FOR THE HOSRE THAT HE MADE THEM FOR, NICE WORK SIR.... AND IM SURE THE HORSE REALLY DOES APPRECIATE YOU MORE THAN WE DO!!!!
Wow, thank you so much for letting me know and the great encouragement. My biggest fear starting the channel was all the nay sayers . So truly appreciate you taking the time to let me know your thoughts. Have a blessed day cheerio.
Horse is getting better orthopaedic help than most humans!! Warms my heart to see people care for their horses- so many people would put a horse down for being lame withouy even thinking of the hooves being fixed this way
Glad she was able to get some help with that with as much weight as she puts on her hooves it’s a big deal especially with how much pain she’s been having on a daily basis. She really deserved that relief you gave her so great job my friend.
Great Question. Have you been in the shower or bath and the calluses on your hands start to become more transparent, white in color and become soft. Imagine then going straight to work building a rock wall without any gloves. The same type of experience can happen to a horse . When they live in a wet environment but have an abrasive surface say like a gravel turnout paddock, it can sometimes over exfoliate their sole, to the point of being extremely thin as shown in this video. Hope this answers your question. Thank you for reaching out. Cheerio.
@@ModernDayHoofCareThanks for actually answering; a lot of similar channels ignore perfectly valid questions like that one, but now I’ve learned something about horses. I don’t own or work with horses, but now I know, and you never know when that might come in handy.
I have always thought that farriers are artisans, crafting solutions with what they have on hand and using creativity, this solidified it for me. ❤ Praise! 🙌
I’m happy to see you’re using this method! Rubber is much better than iron shoes, because it’s flexible, more comfortable and gives more grip. Well done! 👌
Finalmente qualcuno che pensato veramente con cervello e cuore 💓 tu sei un grande ❤️👏 ti meriti tanto rispetto per aver fatto questo grande gesto e spero che tutti adotteranno questa metodica
Much respect ❤ I understand that horse's discomfort- I have thin, brittle nails, they always brake ir get infected, so now I use gel rubber base that flexes in them as a protective barrier and I haven't got a broken nail in couple of years 😊
CHRISTOPHER, YOUR A GENIUS⁉️😘 YOUR ALSO MY HERO ON TOP OF THIS HORSE BECAUSE I WOULDN'T HAVE EVER THOUGHT A HORSE CAN BE CURED OF THIN SOLES. I'M ABSOLUTELY AMAZED WITH YOUR SKILLS AND TALENT‼️😏 I'M EXCITED FOR EVERY HORSE 🐎 OUT THERE WITH THIS PROBLEM. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR INVENTING A WAY TO HELP CURE THEM FROM SUCH A DEBILITATING PROBLEM. ❤️🤟💋♊🇺🇲🐎🙏
DUDE, I HAVE SUCH A MADD RESPECT FOR YOUR TALENT'S⁉️😘 I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW WHAT GAVE YOU THE IDEA TO HELP YOU FIND A SOLUTION FOR THE THINNING HOOVES OF HORSES AND COW'S⁉️❤️🤟💋♊
I love how there are so many new alternatives to iron/aluminium shoes that will both protect a sensitive foot and let it move like it's supposed to. Amazing how quickly horses' hooves can regrow and become healthier with the right care.
It is amazing how far farriers have come in the past 50 years. With 3D printers recently adding to the profession .So many would have been killed because of the now fixable problems. Sweet!
Right , it is really cool what options we have available today , been a farrier for 30+ years and have seen lots of great new options that can be really beneficial!
Ugh poor baby! Thank you for making this sole because from growing up around my grandfather who raised and rode horses that’s a very tender spot and can lead to all kinds of serious complications for a horse even long term if not helped
Your amazing ! Like they said I bet he comes running when you show up at the farm. Keep up the great work. That will follow you for the rest of your life. Good job ❤
Wow, i have never seen a sole that thin 😶 That horse must feel so much better now, thank you so much for caring him! ❤ I've seen many hoof issues but neever this kind of problem. Horses are amazing animals and we have to take care of them.
