I kept some tadpole in my garden in England a few years ago. I found the spawn drying out in a puddle whilst on a walk near my home (in a town!!!). Got them home, raised them, educated my grand kids about their life cycle then released them into the pond they should have been born into. I like your sentiments on biodiversity.

At first I was really worried about that to be honest. There are multiple ways to work around it. 1 would be once it’s constantly over 80 degrees , cover the top / or stop. Because they will come. And for me I just keep one guppy in the water. It leaves the frogs and tadpoles alone. But treats mosquito larva like it’s ice cream. Hahahah
California native animals are like my natural pesticides because they eat all the insect. I stopped using chemical pesticides and let the California native animals, reptiles, and insects eat all the pests in my garden.
