I have had the pleasure of living and working in Helsinki and have taken both Viking and Silja to Stockholm. Beautiful part of the world and great ships, crew and service.
You should try to do this cruise in wintertime. We did a cruise from Helsinki to Stockholm sometime in the late 1990s, in December. We arrived in the morning and it was really great having a breakfast and slowly gliding past the snowy islands of Stockholm archipelago. And when we left Stockholm later that day it was already getting dark, so the streetlights, lights in the windows of houses and white snow created this really magical winter wonderland.
I agree with you, except that nowadays it's a miracle if there is snow in Stockholm in December. Nowadays boat travel between October and March is not enjoyable because it's almost always very windy and heavy seas.
I always enjoy seeing more of the inside of the ships, the restaurants, shopping, beer and wine selections, the cabins etc. Pictures of the food they serve. Beautiful women etc. The car and truck decks. Thanks.
garyhope2 Thanks for such a nice info.. I too travelled it and also made an informative video.. plz have a look.. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SHJqpmlxmN8.html
Being Swedish, though living near Gothenburg, my dream after this pandemic is to cruise with Silja Line to Helsinki from Stockholm, and also go with Stena Line from Gothenburg to Kiel, and that’s with me being rather terrified of deep water and open sea (I was about 9 when the MS Estonia sank and guess I was traumatized by seeing reports of it on the news) but I still want to travel by those ferries lol I’m also planning on taking the sleeper train to Kiruna and then rent a car to drive out to the mountains and over to Norway, to see places I haven’t seen since 2003 when I last went north together with my parents in our caravan (had to stop going with them after that due to starting to work the year after) Now I’m a 35 year old disabled adult, with too much time on my hands but too limited physical ability so long hours on roads is just no longer possible, but a cruise or sleeper train I can go on!
Nice video! I really like these cruises, been to a bunch of them in my lifetime. That said, nowadays I only travel by boat on Spring or Summer, because the seas are usually quite stormy from mid-September onwards. The ships are a safe way to travel, but it's not very enjoyable to just lay in your cabin.
Took a Viking Ferry between Stockholm and Helsinki back in 1987 I think it was the Salle? It was amazing. My mate snored so I walked around the ship and ran into some really cool Finns drinking Elephant beer with Vodka. That is all I remember
Great vlog. Why are all the ships in this vlog makeing a stop at Mariehamn in Åland? That is because of the Tax-free rules. Åland is not a member of the EU, so then you can shop tax-free. That is how these companies make money. BTW I sailed in Mariella in aug. of 1980. What a jewel of a ship! Then she was on the Kappelskjer-Mariehamn-Nådendal. On the way back it was onboard Silja Line Fennia from 1966! It was a nice ship too.

NB : I think maybe, not sure, Gabriella is Sister ship to Mariella which took part in the rescue of souls from the Estonia. SIlja Europa also took part. May all those lost RIP. Q : How many beers is it from Helsinki to Stockholm ? Excellent video my friend. Thank you for showing this :-)
There are mistakes in most/all of my older videos. I think almost all ships on the Baltic sea on the night of the Estonia disaster went to her assistance and few of them are still in service. I think the silja symphony was there as well. Not less than 4 beers :)
Gabriella wasn’t involved and isn’t Mariella’s sister. That’s Princess Anastasia. Mariella and Silja Symphony helped with the rescue operation, and so did Silja Europa and Isabelle. (Wow. I know a lot about this.)
@@tempsa2 I don't know about Princess Anastasia but Amorella is a sister ship of Gabriella. Both of the ships were buit in mine city (Split, Croatia...Yugoslavia at that time).
Thanks for the nice video. I sailed aboard this ship when she was the the Silja Scandinavia. The guitar music was nice and fit the video perfectly but that 'techno pop' was really awful, I had to mute the video during those parts.

Excellent video ! Could you please show more of the interior of the ship please? I like the music don't worry about those other comments!!! Thank you for sharing !!! :):):)

On these cruises you can see a section of the whole finnish population. The joy, the melancholy of the people. Most of it is melancholy and miserabliness. You will learn that you can still drink more even if you could not drink anymore :D
I'm a Brit, and have travelled on a few ferry routes around Europe, and all follow a strict safety regime, so imagine my shock and horror when I travelled on a Philippines ferry. Not a slightest nod at health and safety or passenger safety or comfort. If there is just a little more room, then cram more people in. That maxim holds true with all modes of transport in the Philippines.
Sounds interesting over there. I have never been there but I have seen a few youtube videos from ferries around there. The ferry from Manilla to Coron and other tourist places appears to look safe enough however I can imagine that things may get sketchy on the none tourist routes.
MS Marine Diesel let's see for next year. I cannot make it for this year. I am going to Viking XPRS so i can upload that video to my second channel. (about baltic sea ships)
Went on her in 97 from Stockholm to Helsinki back to Stockholm mini cruise. Fantastic food, staff, facilities. Shame about drunk yobs on way back but that's cos of duty free to evade expensive alcohol costs in Sweden, which is state run shops. Gorgeous archipelago!

I used to work on her sister ship, Crown Seaways (then known as Crown of Scandinavia), sailing between Copenhagen and Oslo. Not a pretty ship, rather looks like a trawler on steroids. But the inside was nice and the discotheque and nightclub were nice. Not a good ride in rough seas!
Will hopefully get on that one again sometime too, I traveled on the Pearl Seaways in the past and the crew were very friendly, I am sure the Crown Seaways is similar, thanks for watching and commenting
Я посмотрела в Интернете , что там есть Магазины Косметики и т.д. ( так далее ). А Там есть Магазин Игрушек ? В Интернете Я такого не нашла! Там есть Магазин Игрушек ?
No plans to go to Sweden this year, however if you make your own Visby ferry video I will give it a thumbs up.The Visby ferries appear in my ms wawel video.
You show more of other ships you pass than the one you are on! What do they serve besides sandwiches on board? Nice to know they have a few bars and a department store on board! Do they have staterooms other than what you showed? What else can one do besides drink and play slot machines on board? Maybe I will just to go Viking's website and find out, your video is not much information.
The videos are wonderful and very well done. I am glad, however, that all information is done by subtitles so that the sound of that horrid music can be silenced.
Ideas can often be... plasmic. There's a great deal for any individual to contribute quite a bit more of creativity, in the most competitive finely-tuned sense, of what morals also are for at times. That was... just dumb, of most of my obedient people and fans/supporters, that I love. I like the point of the video. But, I couldn't even get one minute into it, because the "music" is terrible. Change the music and I will watch and like your video.
