What better to do on the eve of your 51st birthday than take a ride up Helvellyn with a pal?
We chose to go both up and down via Keppel Cove from Glenridding this time as we did Stix pass last time and Liam has never desecnded this way...
We both had an awesome day, it was 3 degrees in the car park and around -2 up top.
Perfection.
As usual, the "GoPro effect" as I call it makes this look almost flat. I have tried to convey the real angle with some up/down comparisons at two points in the video. Be assured, this is one of the steepest ascents/descents available in the lakes and you should tackle it with great care. Its an awesome ride, and one I do again and again, but Helvellyn is not a place to have an accident... If in doubt, just get off and walk. Especially when you are tackiling it alone.
