Good evening Des, we have thoroughly enjoyed your Yorkshire adventures, it's a beautiful and rugged landscape ❤ great to round it all off with a cheeky pint and dose of UK weather lol! Last time we visited Yorkshire we stayed in a lovely Youth hostel, we did note how friendly and welcoming alot of the free houses were. We particularly liked a club with a tree in the back yard, covered in boots that had been retired by their owners. My belly rumbled when you mentioned fish n chips! Catch you soon, Ceri and Kat ❤👍☕🍺🍟
Hi Ceri & Kat! It was a great little trip. I'm already planning a return visit as part of a longer road trip next month. Hope you are both well, and enjoying the long weekend👍
Nice one Des. My first time in the Helwith Bridge Inn was on a few days youth hostelling trip with a couple of school pals Easter hols 1989. We sought shelter from a sleet shower before heading up Penyghent. Subsequent visits were often with my pa. He loved photographing steam trains and HB was a good vantage point. ATB, Chris
Hi Chris. I can definitely still recommend it. Pity I couldn't have a look around inside, with the current situation, but will definitely go back there. All the best👍
Great new video Des, I’m having to play catch up with RU-vid as I have had a busy couple of weeks, but looks like you have also been busy with lots of walks - 😊 that beer looked lovely 😊
Hi Stephen! I'm doing the same today. Been out camping for a few days, so catching up on comments and vids. They did serve a great pint there 😁 I'm planning on going back soon with Maria👍
And my favourite bit about pub stopovers is that you have to use the "facilities" 😁 It is a fantastic part of England to explore though! Thanks for watching & look forward to seeing footage of your weekend👍
Yes, was hoping to see a steam train but no luck. I think I got a distant view of one of those old Pullman trains, but not 100% sure. Great little pub! The van has a portaloo but we use site facilities where possible. This pub lets you use their loos. ATB👍
Looks like you had a great time on your Yorkshire trip, although I’m a little disappointed you didn’t start wearing a flat cap 😆. Your camper van looks cool. Must be great to have flexibility to travel where you want to go and not worry about accommodation
Hi Anthony! It's a green thing. I can't get a flat cap until the daft Spanish hat wears out 😁 The van is great, but whether it's a van, big tent or small tent, they're all just a way of staying out there for longer. One thing I hate, is hearing people say one way of camping is an "upgrade" on another. Hope you're enjoying a great bank holiday weekend!👍
Good little trip des - always worthwhile to get your head down in a not so usual place. I've only ever done one camper van trip in the Cambrian Mountains with an old friend of mine Meirion. It's on my channel and is called: Magnificent Mobile Life & Cambrian Mountain Drive with Meirion. Well, you had a nice fish and chips to. Take care. Mark
Hi Mark. We've really enjoyed having the van since we got it. You have to be OK with operating in a small space. I'll check out your video and see how you got on! 😁 The meal was very welcome after the day's walk, I can tell you! All the best👍
@@DesGreene That's good to hear des. Yeah, small spaces are enjoyable to - they enable you to tap into something different within. My video? You'll see a part of the UK that you won't be familiar with yet is spectacular.
Hi Des, I was going to ask you about the facilities, and thrn you posted this! Do you reckon it would be too noisy in a tent then... Due to lorries? Atb, Terry.
Hi Terry. When I was there, the quarry traffic seemed to completely stop at 5pm. First noise I heard in the morning was the bin wagon and a school bus from around 7-30 am. As Michael, said, a few pints definitely helps 😁 Might be worth giving them a ring to make sure of current facilities at the moment👍
I loved the little terrace on that pub. Do you use any apps for finding overnight spots? I've always used park4night , always interested to hear what others use.
Hi Aggy. Probably just as well it started raining or I might still be there 😁 I sometimes use the searchforsites website. But I've not used any of the paid apps. Pub sites at least you can ring to check they still allow vans. Does park4night need a subscription?
@@DesGreene it's amazing how easy a pint goes down next to a river, lake or canal. 🍻 . Park4night does have a subscription tier, but truly beyond adding an offline mode I have no idea what that tier does, I've been using it for free for years, I've edited, added places etc as well as using all the normal search functionality and haven't found any limitations. It's got a nice community feel to it, people add the details of the various locations.
