Would it be better if you used cutting fluid?

Kevin Dumais it's noted to NOT use cutting fluid on this particular saw.

@@stuffsethmakes the reason not to use any cutting fluid or lubricant is due to a vulcanized rubber band wheel. The rubber will absorb oils and the blade will slip. You still get really good blade life, even dry-cutting! The blades are not expensive either at around $21.

Nice video, how is the saw holding up? Would you recommend it?

Holding up great with the exception of one of the knobs that adjusts the sliding blade guide broke off. Not a big deal though, I just use some pliers to tighten/loosen it for now until I have a chance to fix it. Again, not a big deal at all. 45 & 90 degree settings are pretty accurate from the factory but may need slight adjusting which is easy to do. I know this video isn't great quality and I've been meaning to do a follow up video, just haven't had time yet, haha! Thanks for watching!

@@stuffsethmakes the replacement guide arm lever is available from HEM Saw at store.hemsaw.com/utility-saws/utility-saw-parts/782xlh/blade-guard-and-guide-arm-lever-black.html for under $8 if you are interested.

When Do you know to change the blades (besides the obvious reason that it won’t cut) before forcing the motor, wheel rubbers etc... is there a rule of thumb? Thanks.

not sure there's a rule of thumb. I'd say when you feel it's not cutting as well, change it out!👍🏻

sorry i didn't have a better answer! i've changed mine a couple times but only because i got a kink in it and it was knocking every time it passed that spot on the blade. Getting the kink was an error on my part though, not the saw👍🏻

Great video! After a few months now is it running as smooth as you would expect? Do you have information on some of the motor specs (Brand, HP, RPM, etc)?

Marc Bore still running great. i've changed out the blade 3 or 4 times so far. There's nothing like a fresh blade! One of the screws that holds on the cover is a little bit tricky to get at, especially if you need to make the change when you're already set up for an angled cut. For the specs you asked about you'll need to look it up. i don't have that info handy.

This saw sounds really loud even before it starts cutting. Or is it just the video making it appear that way?

well, it's metal cutting metal so it's not exactly a quiet operation but i'm sure the camera is making it louder. This was just a quick few shots on my iphone which is going to auto-adjust the volume as it tries to bring all audio up to the same level.

oh it's definitely not loud enough to annoy the neighbors. i will say, in addition to my previous reply, sometimes it may screech a little more depending on what you're cutting, but again, it's certainly not deafening. Hope that helps too👍🏻

Hi, it make noise yes... but if you compare with a dewalt chop saw, with carbide teeth or abrasive blade.... I guess its 1/4 of the sound so... its relatively quiet. plus more precise. plus the band saw last longer than carbide blades and cost 1/4 < I reccomend the lenox and always use their specific tpi for the aplications, thin SS no prob. thick barstock carbon steel no prob, Aluminum... no problem etc.
