Thanks to Sam and Luci, @ www.samandluci.com for the amazing original track 'Children of the Sun', written specifically for this video.
Special thanks to Clark Anderson (client) for sponsoring this project @glynravengardens , and bringing some thoughtful and very considered concepts to this unique project, and of course constantly opening his land, and home, to all those that participated in the process, including a 10 day workshop. Thank you 'Antler'.
With much deep respect to Toni Laderach for his constant optimism and professionalism, HEC were very grateful for this congruent collaboration of hearts and minds.
Lastly, and most importantly, eternal and infinite gratitude to our great mother and keeper of all the earth's wisdom, love, joy and prosperity, without her love and guidance none of this would be possible.
I would like to dedicate this video to a special young man, who recently was released from this earthly plane, still so young, but gave so much love, and care, and shared his gifts in ways that will always be remembered and missed. In loving memory of 'Kai Dakota Dixon Richardson', Nov, 06, 2002 - August 12, 2020. We miss you... May creator always watch over you, on your journey.

I always fantasized, wished for a straw bale house, which was the MOST beautiful energy to be inside, when I first was, while one was being built in Quebec, Canada.. The wide windowsills, the width of a bale, etc. Just heavenly and so still and grounded. This looks like it must feel that good. Now I really want to learn how. A little concerned that it seems to require so much wood...i love wood, but...trees. I wonder if there is another way to do it without so much wood framing. Ah, just had a flash: bamboo! it’s far more sustainable, maybe. hmm. it’s about using what is near you, also.... thinking out loud, after having heard the gorgeous heart-centred words form Souverein, River and Imani today, this morning.

Very interesting. What are the foundations made from? And do they need to be as deep if the building on top is going to be lighter?
@roiad876
@roiad876 4 дня назад
once you reach the top of the walls do you just start packing and tampering the hempcrete sideways and upwards instead of down? always been curious about that.

How much did it cost? It's so lovely!
@havenearthpma
@havenearthpma 2 года назад
This one was a custom home build and had many elements that are not so typical, like the hand crafted reclaimed oak roof trusses. The overall cost of this home was approx. $280,000. We have many design options for similar size Hemp structures that would cost considerably less. We are also providing Hemp Building training, and much more. @@havenearthpma I can see the attraction for those old oak beams but couldn't you replicate 99% of the effect by cladding new posts in reclaimed barn wood boards?
@havenearthpma
@havenearthpma 11 месяцев назад
They were reclaimed from the clients great great granfathers barn in Kentucky. He was pretty set on using them for he trusses. Why cut down new when this timber was part of his family heritage from eons ago.. I see what youre sayign though, but in this case the real deal was the best an most practical solution. @@johnassal5838

So it's not necessary to use magnesium oxide or other dry wall?
@havenearthpma
@havenearthpma 3 года назад
It's a person preference, as long as it's a breathable material, like lime based plaster, the mag board is not necessary.
@nc3826
@nc3826 3 года назад
Emily: The most common finish is a lime or clay base plaster... There many posts that show the ratios used to make it and how it is applied. Good luck... BTW most "drywall" use a paper coating over the gypsum, which promotes mold, especially if it would be unadvisedly used to cover Hempcrete. That is design to safely absorb some of the excess moisture in the air of the house and release it when the air is dry....
@paulatarver-prof
@paulatarver-prof Год назад
Do you have to apply a lime plaster when finished? Dues the hempcrete deteriorate on the weather? I loved the layer lines.
@hermit9852
@hermit9852 Месяц назад
One of the most important points of using in hempcrete is allows us to get away from stick frame construction. This is not the best way to make use of hempcrete.

I don't understand all the wood framing. Hempcrete blocks make framing unnecessary according to everything I've watched. Your house can burn down due to all the extremely flamable wood framing. Your fire risk went from nearly nil to extremely high.

Bldg codes in most places don’t yet allow hemp as load bearing, so until them it may be approved as infill in framed walls…
@motionbytom1885
@motionbytom1885 8 месяцев назад
If its a cold country then the wood will allow for insulation and also, the roof will always needs a frame.
@rickyc711

hempcrete is not load bearing, so the wood framing is needed. Also most is behind the hempcrete so it is protected.
