Live performance of the Sonate 'Da pacem, Domine' by Hendrik Andriessen (1892-1981) played by Erik Jan Eradus on the 1738 Müller-organ, St. Bavo Haarlem, 13th of September 2022.
The Sonate, written in 1913, was Andriessen's first major work for the organ. It was dedicated to Louis Robert (1882-1938) and was premiered in 1914 on the Müller-organ of St. Bavo Haarlem.
Robert immigrated to The United States in 1922 and brought a copy of the work with him. The last known performance took place in 1935. After his death nobody could find any trace of the work and it was considered lost forever.
Following numerous attempts of others, musicologist Jort Fokkens started a new search in 2018 by tracing the footsteps of Louis Robert in the US. This time it was successful and the Sonate was re-discovered in 2021.
A new edition was made by Lourens Stuifbergen and published by Donemus.
A first performence was given by Erik Jan Eradus on the 13th of September 2022.
