Terrific lecture as always. I strongly recommend these lectures to anyone involved in medicine. I would also encourage that you support this gentleman’s efforts to make us all a bit smarter.
I had this when I was 12. Docs at the hospital said it was their worst case in a decade. I’m okay now! Managed to avoid the worst of the kidney damage. Got some scars on my feet from some really bad lesions, but I haven’t had an episode in 7 years and counting. The colitis I got from the pain meds was pretty nasty, though.
I feel sooo blessed that I found your channel Seriously you’re helping so much people and making medicine seem soooo interesting. It’s way better to learn it in that way instead Of learning long boring texts given by teacher
Same, I was 8 years old, and was diagnosed with Lyme disease around the same time. My array of rashes has my pediatrician scratching his head. The man is a saint, he's still practicing almost 20 years later, and is locally know as the best pediatrician around.
Watching this awhile after posted but I have HSP and this video was amazing I have it pretty rare because I’ve had it 2 o times in a row and have a high chance of getting it again I love these awareness videos about this
I’m glad we can all relate and not feel alone in this, I recently got diagnosed with HSP, I’m still going through it… it all started with small spots and flared into big rashes I was hospitalized for a week, they conducted various blood work and urine, fortunately I do not have any infection in my blood, kidney or any organs… I still don’t know or they don’t know why it could of happened, I’m currently on steroids
My 7yrs old daughter was just recently hospitalised for 5 days due to HSP and now currently on steroids and other medicine. It just started as a rash then escalated to an extreme tummy pain. It was a gruelling site as a parent to see my child suffering in pain. She looks much better and rash are slowly healing but the doctors had to change her diet and avoiding spicy or any fried foods.
I am tamilnadu .my son treatment hsp. Augest attack. Many hosptle. Cmc hospital sep to dec meadician prisecriped. Now no rash no stomuch pain but knee joint disturb your advice please
I had this case at the age of 14, it tooks 1month for me to recover, then after how many years at the age of 25 it came back and it was severe already, but thank GOD it takes 6months for me to recover again i wish my kidney wasn't damage that much, I also took those prednisone and some medicines, it really triggers all my body not to function verry well that causes my body apendex to blew they also took some biopsy from me, anyway thanks for the video godbless😇
My daughter was diagnosed with this when she was 5yrs old not long after she received her last MMR shot. It was horrible! Took a few months for her to get back to some kind of normal. She is 23 now and still has small episodes at times after or during an upper respiratory infection. She has had her urine checked once a year since her diagnosis to make sure it’s clear of blood and protein, most urines tests were good. Drs said she will deal with this her whole life and may end up with severe kidney problems. They said it’s an autoimmune disorder reaction that was caused by the vaccine.
Did they say what vaccine may have caused it? My son has HSP comes back every like 6 months and they have given him steroids but it keeps coming back but he gets back stomach pain and ache pains/cramps😢
I just got diagnosed with this after hours in the hospital for an explanation for all these bruises, puke and shakiness. Currently in absolute agony. Yikes.
had this when i was 9, i had hospitalized for 3 weeks and everyday doctors checked my blood and made urine's test.Luckily no episode has occured since then. I saw this video a week ago 'cause i'm making some researches for an exam (i'm a pharmacy student) and this is a topic that's close to my heart until what happened today. This morning i went to the center to get the covid-19 vaccine but before my turn i made a visit with a doctor who asked me some questions about my medical history, i told her about the hsp episode and she decided not to vaccinate me with astrazeneca, as i was supposed to, but with the pfizer one.She said that in cases like mine it's better not to use it 'cause hsp is always considered as a "reaction" even causes are still unknown. Astrazeneca is a vaccine more specific and recommended for patients with normal medical history, while pfizer with his rna technology is safer in any kinda of case. Thank god i told her about my hsp especially given the circumstances of some cases of thrombosis that happened in Europe, it's better not to risk!
Is there a cure for this or will it keep coming back my son is 9 and has been getting it the past 2 years comes and goes away with steroid but comes back again! Terrible stomach pain and leg pain 😢
Well, I have been diagnosed with HSP, going on 6 months. I have terrible knee joint pain and have a hard time doing my patrols at work. Recently, I have been noticing blood in my stool. Can anyone here recommend more places to do research for HSP that a simple man like me could understand? There seem to be too many difficult words in most of the articles or videos that I just don't understand.

I am now 30 i get tiny red Dots all over arms and legs. I have severe joint pain all the time. I get kidney stones. Now i found out i have degenerative disc disease and the pain in my lower back is very hard to cope With at times.
I know it is crazy for me to say as a 17-year-old but I have caught Henoch-Schonlein purpura as A junior in high school, I was walking through the hallways and I kept on getting shortness of breath and it was getting hard for me to walk, so I sat down in the classroom while the teacher was passing out papers, I rolled up my pant leg and Saw nothing but Spots on my leg, So I immediately start freaking out lol. I’ve got to the doctor and I could not walk they had to bring me into the hospital with a wheelchair it was the most scariest thing that happened to me because I thought I would never walk again LOL
