Whenever I'm depressed, I watch Henri to remind myself how fortunate I am...that my life is not nearly as unbearable as his...wretched, wretched soul...
Just watched this video again after many, many years. My dad - who died in 2016 - loved this video too. Started to cry when I reminisced about all the times my Dad and I discussed, laughed, joked, and debated the philosophical musings of Henri. Thank you, Mr. Braden, for posting all of your Henri videos. God bless!
+Jeremy Morgan Thank you for that tidbit. Thanks to you, Wikipedia, and RU-vid, I have learned of this style of music and of the French composer Erik Satie. And yes, Will Braden chose the best genre of music which fits Henri's moods perfectly.
This film is a masterpiece. I came to rewatch it, hearing of Henry's demise. So clever and creative to use what you had at hand, without the need for a crew, a cast of actors and extras -- just the star magnifique, Henri! The music selection and titling are perfect, and your French, well, way better than mine. Repose en paix, Henri.
My cat Harli watched this (or rather sat in front of it very patiently for two minutes and stared at the screen). Her reaction was the cutest thing. She had her paws folded the whole time and she started purring at the end. Je crois que Harli et Henri sont des âmes soeurs.
Will Braden, I have never laughed so much as I have at Henri - truly, you are genius. The grainy photography, composition, back music....it is so incredibly perfect... Thank you for sharing your creativity with the world...indeed, millions of hits! Bravo!
thanks for the kind words, I'm glad Henri is still making people chuckle! oh, and watch out for Henri on CNN next weekend. I was interviewed about the film, and they're gonna show part of it and part of my interview. fun stuff!
My cat Alfie is shown this film but turns away in disdain. He does not care for the black cat Henri. Alfie will not stay and jumps from my lap, but leaving a large scratch on my leg. So it is with some cats... Je suis désolée.
Are you serious? I had no idea!! Are you sure? You are the first person to mention this out of millions of people watching Henri's videos! I honestly thought the French was perfect, and perfectly pronounced. This news comes as a bit of a shock! Maybe I should write some sort of English translation and put it at the bottom of the video. Do you think that would help?
I am carefully studying each of the Henri le chat videos so I can have the proper appearance of disdain for my fellow passengers while riding on the Paris metro next spring.
I just revisited Henri and learned he died last year. I know 17 is a long life for a cat, but I'm sorry to see him go. He was loved as a kitty cat rock start
As a french student, our teacher showed this in class, saying, "The french is bad on purpose, most likely Google translate french. But that's what makes it funny!"
@@paulatiredofthisshit What are you talking about, it's perfectly fine. "As a French student, (I am saying that) our teacher showed this." The part in the parentheses can be omitted and the meaning is obvious.
I looked this video up because I saw a Christopher Walken interview and while they were talking about Walken's own cat, he told the interviewer to look up "Henri the Cat" because he loved it so much. Walken said it is a cat having an existential crisis. :D Thanks for the tip, Christopher!
Henri died? Oh my gosh. I haven’t checked this site in a long time, but the Zhenjiang films are so brilliant. I’ve just come back to watch again. Will- what you did was fantastic. Henri…..
I first heard this elegant, wistful mewzik in my summer school orchestra class way, way back in 1962 and I have always loved it, just as I have loved all chats and adore Henri!
I've watched so many cat videos on RU-vid, it seem like after all this time the universe has rewarded me with the highest level of cat videos: existential.
Love it!! Can't believe I had never heard about Henri before now. BTW...I found him by a RU-vid list of 13 cats that justify the internet. Now I have to check out all the others. Very good short film...wouldn't surprise me if Henri got picked up by Sundance.
So saddened to hear that Henri has gone over the rainbow bridge. This feline, who I never had the pleasure of knowing in person (his preference I'm sure), brought me hours upon hours of joy and comfort. Farewell, sweet boy.
Today I learned that Cole died (Cole and Marmalade). I tried to remember the other cat I followed. It was Henri. I loved him very much. He made me laugh. Henri will not die. I will always b able to watch his videos.
My day isn't complete without a dose of Henri's reality(?). Even when I have the blues, Henri can make me smile, and some lines even get a giggle out of me~generally the ones about a certain sweet kittycat who obviously irritates our favorite philosopher. So, I shall keep returning, hoping to find MORE videos. Purrrrretty please?! I promise to make room in my budget for Henri's book! Who needs a refill of prescriptions when I can read Henri's brilliance?
I just found you through a friend on FB and I think you are fantastic. Original, eloquent, and humorous. Totally love it. Will definately subscribe and look forward to more videos.
