in my case, i like the video games, like OG Dawn of War and total war warhammer, and mainly just haven't had a chance to get/read the books, and have seen what lore i have from random things online

Yeah. I have a set of push-fit starter (Recruit 9th edition) that I've just played the practice/training missions with against myself (running the other side), haven't painted anything, but I'm fascinated by the lore. As much as people talk about the dystopic religio-fascistic Human empire, the lore has so much more going on, like the various lost Human worlds that haven't even been found yet (like the one Horus ordered destroyed but that were as or more advanced than the Imperium and not dystopic religio-fascitic, meaning there well could be more; the realm of Ultramar was before Big E found Bobby G, and even after, has allowed him a lot of semi-autonomy), and then you get into the other species/factions out there that are their own various brands of thing, but not all of them are dystopian or evil (the Leagues of Votaan and the base Eldari faction; the Orcs are less "evil" than they are genetically programed to get into fights, etc etc), and its built on deep lore that is pretty interesting between the mystery origins of the Emperor, the ancient war between the C'Tan/Necrons and the Old Ones/Eldari/Orcs (kind of an odd mix, that one), as well as the lost lore of Humanity from the Age of Technology. The lore itself is pretty interesting, even if they sometimes go a bit off the rails.

The hobby has grown, but I don't know. I feel like the main point of the hobby is creating Your Dudes. Playing with them is great, but building and painting the models is like the main thing. It's like, I wouldn't consider someone a gamer if all they did was watch Let's Plays or read books about the history of video games.

I think he knows more than most viewers and being familiar with the lore and games is a huge plus. I think he knows more about WH40K than Daniel Craig knew about 007 when he started Casino Royale. And Craig did a decent job in my books.

At my LGS theres a pretty large group of people that still collects but pretty much switched to exclusively playing kill team and battlecry when they came out cause it's way easier to get a game in in a couple hours.

As someone that thinks about going back to 7th, what "state" do you play 7th in? If you play where it ended, the end 7th was the most toxic shit and everyone I know hated it. Abysmal balance across the board, insane lethality competing with indestructible deathstars and everyone else just getting stomped turn 1. And the absolutely mental "here's 500 points of free rhinos" stuff.

I dont like the lack of customizable loadouts on characters. It really cheapens what i feel was a core part of the game. And i actually liked the force org restrictions. Cant say i find as much enjoyment watching the 10th ed batreps either. Id rather watch old 7th ed and i didnt start watching batreps until late 8th maybe 5 mo before 9th.

He's been playing 7th for years, very sensible.

What if it's the other way around. They tried to get Cavil on their side to sell this to us. That's why they chose to start with Custodes. If he said ok, then this whole thing would be portrayed in a different light.

I feel like Custodes in general are like the Lamenter. In Lore the Custodes are super powerful unstoppable war machines, but they are thoroughly wooped on the table top every battle.

No, they did not. Except for people who don't play or paint and only read the lore on wiki and watch youtube. Hate to be gatekeeping, but most enraged people are not part of the community and won't interfere with GW business.

Thing is, does he even "roleplay a jock" outside of being handsome and not mouthbreathing over nerdy topics(unless directly asked about his hobbies)? Seems like he's pretty open about his hobbies, and his characters tend to be pretty smart or at least not stereotypical meatheads.

He'll either be okay with it or dislike it, especially since he loves his lore lol i mean look what happened with the witcher series.

@@christopherjohnson7964 yeah, more than anything the reason I disliked the change was because GW seemed to be basically trying to gaslight people about it, telling us that it'd always been this way instead of just admitting that it's a retcon. also, I was previously under the impression that the Custodes are to the Emperor what the Astartes are to the Primarchs, so if female Custodes are now a thing I require an explaination as to why they work but female Astartes don't.

@Abzlmnog2.0 fair enough, but I'm not a fan of these companies pandering to a microscopic group of people that don't partake in the franchises they are changing. Video games are getting worse, Hollywood has been rapidly diminishing. All in the name of inclusivity. It's fine if you make new stories or characters, but to drastically change something that's been well established for years, if not decades, is ridiculous. Look at marvel, star wars, 007, dr who, and all the game studios that are trying to bring an audience that never liked fantasy to begin with, all while alienating and belittling their amassed fan base. I'm not throwing shade at anyone who enjoys these changes, just the companies for taking the lazy way out and causing stock drops and boycotts because they don't want to have an original thought. My point was henry cavill is kind of a geek and can't stand these types of changes in something he enjoys, so he may very well detest this as well. If he's willing to leave the Witcher because they were moving away from the source material for political ideology, it's not far fetched to assume he would find this change a bit irritating. Essentially adding to his frustration with these companies.
