I think cehudo gets a little ahead of himself, that being said I feel like I'm pretty biased because I dont think he even won that fight against DJ, and the tj fight def stopped early...just saying I'm biased lol
Just for anyone else with knowledge of biology below 3rd grade: women are much weaker physically than men, they also have way slower reaction times, and are much more easily knocked out due to weight distribution. Woman will always lose to a man of equal weight and skill, this is just how it is. Cejudo really impressed me with his adjustment. I thought he’s been a Conor imitator the past few fights but the way he fought after the first round...impressive. On a bigger guy at that. The king of cringe can fight.

The real issue for Cejudo - granted, make that an "issue", because it will forever be swept under the rug - is the DJ win. DJ, first of all, absolutely RAN THROUGH Henry, in his victory. Now, in the second fight, when it went to the judges, my immediate knee-jerk thought was "Wow, Henry REALLY improved! DJ wrapped up another victory, but Cejudo is ALMOST there already, damn close fight..."; and, then of course I got surprised by Cejudo getting handed a split decision. Now, we all know that a judges decision has a decently large grey area, that's just a fact that has to be accepted, if it's close then the arguably 'objective' winner very well may lose the decision - like I still believe happened to DJ(I even watched the fight 6 months later, it still seemed like a pretty clear victory for DJ, but it was still close enough to be grey area material). But, this is the thing - DJ DESTROYED Cejudo in ONE ROUND with knees, while Cejudo BARELY edged out a grey area split decision; so, where's the rubber match? Cejudo is beating his chest in EVERY. SINGLE. promo and interview session about "I BEAT DEMETRIUS JOHNSON" - well, no, you didn't. This is the way that it has ALWAYS worked in the sport, you get a decision victory over someone that mopped the floor with you in the first fight, you don't get to claim superiority, you just evened up the numbers on paper. That's it. Nevermind the fact that it was merely a split decision, not even decisive, let alone a finish of any kind. Until Cejudo can actually tip the scales in his favor with a decisive rubber match victory against DJ, then he doesn't have the figurative P4P argument over him, he merely has an "incomplete" in this chapter of his career. But, of course, this chapter will NEVER be completed due to the politics of the business, and the REALITY of it will continue to be swept under the rug because that result must continue to be completely twisted and contorted to make it sound like something that it most certainly wasn't for the sake of PR, plain and simple. To make it that much more contorted, Cejudo is the "paper P4P champ", as, if you just look at purely the results outside of context, then he arguably has the resume to back it up. But, the reality is that, strictly due to business PR & politics, Cejudo gets to be the only significant fighter to get the credit of "beating" another one of the most significant fighters in the history of the sport, and with only a split decision over a 1st round TKO finish, without the necessary rubber match to have truly PROVEN it. But, Cejudo seems quite content with only having a razor edge split decision over an opponent that had destroyed him in a single round - and so does the UFC. Sadly. Sorry, DJ, you've been swept under the rug for good, only to be used for the promotion of another...
He beat the greatest flyweight of all time, and he beat an enhanced TJ in a handful of seconds, he won another belt, and he has a lot of gold lying around his house from wrestling days. He certainly puts a solid case forward. However I offer you this, Chael aside, Jon Jones is the greatest combat athlete alive, the only person that can beat Jones is Jon Jones. And if you gave Henry all the steroids, food, EPO, baseball bats you wanted, and put him in an octagon with Jon Jones freshly hungover off a coked up sex party, my money is on Jones.
It’s genuinely getting hard to deny he’s up there. He’s a bit gimmicky and can be tough to watch outside of the cage, but in the cage it’s undeniable. Beats DJ in a close fight, starches T3EPO, then goes and puts that performance on. Plus won the gold medal. I think it’s his ability to adapt to things that is unreal. He truly learns from defeat and it propels him forward in leaps and bounds.

I agree with you, that fight could have gone either way and you could say he didnt do enough to dethrone the champ but it is what it is. Henry has since proved himself against a tainted TJ and a game Marlon
DJ wanted to get paid. Henry didn't care about that initially but he is always asking Dana let's talk numbers. DJ went thru a flawless career, finishes etc and when he wanted to get paid for the superfight- crickets . TJ didnt even deserve it anyway
Exactly chale.. I was blown away when i seen him throw leading right after leading right he just could not miss and marlon just confused it seemed of a leading right!!! Then henry turns into anderson Silva and it like he has glue on his hands or somthing but marlon could not get out of the muy thai clinch.. Just wow👌👌👌
Cejudo is the greatest. What he has accomplished with minimal talent blows my mind. Marlon was blowing this guy out the park with an injury, Henrys mindset won him that fight. The only reason jon isnt "the greatest" is because he hasn't graced the heavy weight division. I still want to put jon ahead of Henry because he has done it so much longer but Cejudo is special and has to get brought up when talking about the greatest
Correction: He's the greatest MMA fighter of all time. If you want to get nitpicky, boxers are definitely included in the term "combat athlete", which leaves the door open to consideration for monsters like Mayweather who was a champion of 5 different weight classes and Lomachenko, a 2 time Olympic champion with a 396-1 amateur record (the loss avenged twice!) and a 3 time world champion in only his 12th pro bout.
Am I the only guy who remembers Cejudo getting beaten by Jospeh Benevidez just a couple of years ago? He’s won a few fights in a row....let’s calm down a bit here. If he defends both belts successfully a few times, we can start to talk. A LOT of fighters have had amazing stretches before. The GOAT has longevity, and does it for YEARS.
EntertainmentPurposesOnly i honestly don’t see this playing differently. There is no doubt he is not going to get “exposed” now. He took the best shots of an elite striker, nobody is going to outwrestle him, he had a close match against arguably the goat, He took out the probably the goat of another division on PEDs. Yes If Marlon had more cardio he probably would have taken it, but who has that kind of power and precision and can keep it up for more rounds? I think it’s just about who else can Henry beat from now on, I was a hater now I’m a believer.

combat sports have a rich history and it'd be pure nonsense to try and compare them. there have been highly dominant champions across different fighting sports that would have a much bigger claim to the title of the GOAT. dieselnoi had to quit muay thai because he's just beaten everybody, hakuho sho is a highly dominant sumo wrestler, probably the best sumo of all time and aleksandr karelin was a 10 year unbeaten greco-roman wrestler that didn't give up a single point in 6 years. who is the best? we can't tell and shouldn't really engage in such discussions imo.
He definitely put his name in the hat with this win but still to be best of all time, he needs to rack up more wins not just jump up classes and get UFC belts
