As Michael Franceze says they really built up and made Henry much more than he was in Goodfellas. An associate with severe drug problems. With that being said Henry was a very likeable guy, he wasnt a bad bad person he just got mixed up with those that were. A lotta fun to be around i imagine. RIP Henry.

Me too, I was actually planning on contacting him for an interview, and one night in 2013 watching a gangster documentary he was on flashed 2012 above him and I knew that was a tell he was gone, immediately looked it up and found out he died before the doc was released, I was floored didnt even hear abt it.
I used to own the DVD Good Fellas...could probably quote any scene it in. It dawned on me one day...what if these gangsters extorted my parents or grandparents or great grandparents when all they were doing is trying to take care of their families...maybe owning a small restaurant or vegetable stand or whatever? If you were around then, you would have wanted to kill those slime bags for stealing money or threatening/harming your family! The last thing you would have thought is that they were heroes.
I agree with you. A gangster in real life is not the hero that they make him out to be. They would pimp your daughter out or kill anybody that got in their way. Henry supplied the weapons that he was getting from Paul Mazzei which was his Pittsburgh drug connect. So yes, Henry was part of it but didn't go physically. He was owed $50,000 for the weapons he supplied and was suppose to get almost half a million when the job was done. Everyone who asked Jimmy for their cut ended up getting whacked so Henry left it alone. Jimmy wasn't gonna whack Henry until he got arrested for the drugs because Jimmy was in on the heroin smuggling and selling. He knew Henry could flip and take him down so that's why he asked Paul Vario permission to whack him. Paul found out Henry was dealing and that's why he approved his murder since he wanted NOBODY drug dealing in his crew since the sentences were so severe that they caused people to flip. Also, whoever did you titles needs to do basic research....he wasn't directly involved in the Lufthansa warehouse heist, and only had two kids at the time they were relocated in WPP,, for example. He was a dysfunctional character for sure, and as Life on the Run points out....his dysfunction worsened with going into WITSEC, it didn't start there. Very suprised De Niro (as a true italian), wouldn’t call Bullshit on Italian’s..or most normal people, putting ketchup on their pasta?!?...i’ve seen mungacakes (totally white ppl with no background besides being north american, mungacake is Italian slang for “cake eater”..in Italy or a lot of europe, they don’t generally eat the typical birthday cake’s American’s buy at grocery store’s..they have several different types of dessert..ex. Cannoli’s, Tiramisu..etc, opposed to a spounge cake with a layer if fancy icing & someones name written on it lol, just different culter’s. If i want good BBQ, id head down south (america)..if ur looking for deep dish pizza’s chi-town is where you’ll get top quality, & if you want the best Philly-Cheese-Steak sandwich, my wild guess is head to Philly lol; every culter has their food specialities, although without being Bias,..pizza, pasta, some if our cold cuts/cured sausage/normal sausage, came from italy, types of bread, several types or cheese (if you think think subway puts legit provalone on ur sandwich, you haven’t tasted legit provalone..& the list goes on..but there is a reason why almost every city has several Italian restaurant’s (Major cities, some of their top restaurant’s are Italian, or Steak House’s). Having a decent size garden for veggies & herbs like Basil and what not, makes 100x the difference if you make you’re own pasta sauce, own roasted peppers in olive oil...even the tomato’s are amazing for BLT’s..shit when their in season & have a soft tomato, i double up on the tomato, put the bacon in, little mayo on some toasted bread..& leave out the lettuce lol..we make tomato salads with onions we grow & basil...but it only tastes good towards end of summer, when tomatos are rype, peppers are good to go..basil usually grows faster..& now im hungry, good thing i picked from my farm/big ass garden 2 days ago lol...also home made loofs of bread makes a huge difference for most things besides BLT’s & Club house sandwiches...but 10x better with most other foods. (I didnt mention much about garlic, not a huge fan..if i do use garlic, i use very little, but a lot if people love it).
You’re forgetting one thing, and assuming another. What you’re forgetting is that although De Niro is Italian, the character that he was playing is Irish with no Italian blood in him. So it would be stupid for De Niro to “call” someone out about putting ketchup on pasta, or any food that’s normally labeled “Italian” since he wasn’t playing an Italian. What you’re assuming is that the meal that Tommy’s mother cooked was pasta. What I read the actual meal was (which makes a lot more sense given the time of evening-actually morning- the food was prepared, which was sometime between 2:00am and 3:00am) is eggs and sausage.
