If you want to see more of Henry live, you should check out his performances from the Korean TV show, Begin Again, which featured singer/songwriter Kpop artists who teamed up to form a group and they spent several weeks busking all over Europe. In Begin Again, not only does the group sing the songs live, but several of the members are also musicians so they perform the music live as well. In Begin Again you will see Suhyun from AKMU perform with Henry and several other famous Kpop solo musicians and singers as part of a group called The Family Band. This group was so popular that The Family Band actually did 2 seasons of the show. And the best part is they busked on the streets all across Ireland, England, Switzerland, Portugal and Hungary, etc., so the people they performed for don't speak Korean, but they always fall in love with The Family Band's performances. And Suhyun and Henry also participated in a third season last year when they traveled around Korea to perform with some of their Family Band members, as well as other well known Kpop musicians and artist. This show showcases real life busking performances with some of the best musicians and singers in the Kpop industry. As you may know, Henry is a member of Super Junior-M, as well as a solo artist. As you have discovered, this is why he is considered a music genius. He was classically trained in violin and piano since the age of 6 and he had plans to go to college to study classical music. But the year he graduated high school he auditioned for SM Entertainment when they held auditions in Canada and he impressed them so much with his violin dance routine that they signed him right away. (After joining SM and debuting with SJ-M he did end up going to college. He got a full-ride scholarship to Berklee School of Music in New York and he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in music.) Henry was one of the Kpop industry's very first foreign artists, and he only trained for about a year before he debuted in Super Junior -- and that was only because he needed to learn Korean and become more proficient in Mandarin. Now, before someone says "Henry is not a part of Super Junior any more," I want to point out that it has never officially been said that Henry has left Super Junior. Yes, he left SM in 2018 when his contract was up after 10 years, and started his own independent company called Monster Entertainment, but that doesn't necessarily mean he left the group. Some true fans are holding out hope that this means he still may collaborate with SJ on projects in the future. (He is still living and working in Korea and he is still in contact with all the SJ members, etc. Plus, Super Junior has their own music label so they are more free to collaborate and work with whomever they want.) After all, the 3 members of Girls Generation who left SM have said they would like to do something similar in the future.That's why when Girls Generation made their most recent comeback they did it as a sub-unit Oh!GG, because they weren't the full group. And even Taecyeon from 2PM left JYP Entertainment, but his new company has partnered with JYP to allow Taecyeon to continue activities with 2PM. So, it looks more promising all the time that if Henry ever wanted to do something with SJ again, he could. After all, Henry is one of Lee SooMan's (SM's) favorite people. (Even though SM may have never allowed Henry to reach his full potential under them, which is part of the reason why he left the company. But I don't think there was any bad blood between them when he left, and he has always been one of SM's most prized artists for the amount of talent he has.) In 2008, when SM announced the addition of Henry and Zhoumi (two Chinese members) to Super Junior's group and the creation of Super Junior-M -- which was designed to create music in Mandarin for the Chinese music industry -- Korean fans protested. Some fans were against adding any new members to Super Junior (which already had 13 members). So the Korean fans forced SM to agree to only make Henry and Zhoumi members of Super Junior's Mandarin sub-unit (they needed more Chinese members to make the Chinese sub-unit work), and they were not allowed to be included in anything to do with the main group of Super Junior. So, when not doing activities with Super Junior-M, Henry and Zhoumi also became some of SM's first members of an active group to go solo. Henry is Chinese/Taiwanese-Canadian and he can play almost any instrument. He really is a music genius. He speaks 4 languages fluently -- English, Korean, Mandarin and Cantonese -- and he speaks numerous other languages moderately well. He works really hard to speak to fans in their native language so he has learned a lot of languages over the past 13 years. Henry was the first of SM's foreign artists to be allowed to do solo projects. He is 31 years old now and he is the maknae of Super Junior -- he debuted when he was 18 years old. And, not only is he a musician, but he is also known as a really good dancer and for the fact that he can dance while singing and playing the violin all at the same time. (He is currently a team leader and mentor on Street Dance of China 4, so he is in China right now.) Henry also is an accomplished music producer. He has wrote, composed and produced all his own solo work, as well as numerous songs for other artists and Korean- and Chinese-drama and movie OSTs. (Lay, EXO's Chinese member, has even said that Henry is the one that taught him how to compose and produce music.) One of Henry's last solo song releases under SM is called "Monster," which is one of my favorite songs from 2018. (Not to be confused with EXO's song "Monster" or Seulgi and Irene's song "Monster" or Super Junior's B-side track "Monster." LOL) He has an English version of "Monster" MV, a Chinese "Monster" MV and a Korean audio only version of "Monster." He is also one of the top variety show guests in Korea and China. Everyone wants him on their program because they know he will bring them a lot of ratings. He spends most of his career traveling back and forth from Korea and China on almost a weekly bases because he is involved in so many different projects. And he even broke into the U.S. entertainment industry in 2019 when he starred in the Hollywood movie "A Dog's Journey" alongside famous American actors, such as Dennis Quaid. Now as an independant solo artist, Henry has launched his own RU-vid Channel and he releases weekly content and has become one of the most popular Kpop artists on RU-vid. One of his RU-vid programs is Henry's Carpool, which is what you saw when you watched him performing with Jessi. He also does a really cool show where he invites kids who are child prodigies in music and dance to collaborate with him and to showcase their talent. He is best friends with Amber from F(X), Jackson from GOT7 and Kpop solo artist Eric Nam, among others. And Mark from NCT is like a little brother to him (they are both Canadian and have developed a close bond because of that.) Like Amber, Henry is pretty much connected to everyone in the entertainment industry and everyone is his friend both young and old. He is internationally loved and he is constantly winning awards, such as artist of the year in Thailand a few years ago -- and what is especially notable about that, is the fact that all his work is in Korean, Mandarin or English, he hasn't done anything in Thai. However, they love him because he has managed to endear himself with audiences and fans from around the world. Please check out more of Henry's work both new and old. It's a clip from a special project/ variety show that Henry and Mark from NCT did together in collaboration with SM and Mystic Entertainment, called "The Snowball Project" and on the program Henry was challenged to play multiple instruments from around the world which he had never seen or played before. And, as you will see, within minutes Henry was able to pick up the instrument, figure out how to play the notes and play a song on the spot. I truly believe he must have perfect pitch because he can also play any song or tune on almost any instrument after hearing only a few notes. But I could go on for days about Henry and I could recommend hundreds of clips and programs that he has been on that would impress you even more. He really is an entertainment genius, and on top of all that, he is also a trained chef and can cook as well as a professional. He starred in a Chinese movie where he played a culinary genius, and the producer wanted him to look as authentic as possible, so Henry spent months training under a famous chef and learned a lot of amazing cooking techniques. He has participated in numerous cooking competitions and cooking based variety shows and his skill has impressed even professional cooks. Henry's fans are called Strings because of his classical music background and his RU-vid channel followers are Henemies (sp.?). As you can see by the way I gush, Henry is my ultimate bias, and Super Junior is one of my bias groups, so sorry if I come off kind of strong with my passion and love. LOL
