Thierry Henry, Micah Richards, Jamie Carragher and Kate Abdo react as Real Madrid and Bayern Munich booked their spots in the UEFA Champions League semifinals on Wednesday, respectively ousting Manchester City and Arsenal to do so.
The two sides are now slated to play each other when the competition resumes in two weeks' time, while Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund make up the semifinalists on the other side of the bracket.

I mean when you predict something you go for the one that had more chances. Apart from Arsenal. City, Barcelona were more likely to win. I don’t think anyone said it was a 100% surety. Barcelona got a red, and Madrid won on penalty. It was just common sense to name the better team. Except arsenal. Arsenal no matter how good they are, they won’t win when it matters

Literally noone who I was watching ( sports channels, youtubers) predicted that Dortmund could beat Atletico. Which I always found wierd cause this were 2 teams on the same level in my opinion.

Frankly they went all that wrong about PSG they were clearly going to lose that game they only won because of the red card . Even then u if Barcelona take their vlesr chances they don't lose, so PSG have problems. They are the only ones that are truly lucky. The rest did they thing.

Many Arsenal fans, myself included, expected us to lose - watch prediction vid on AFTV. This was our first CL run for 15 years and so inexperience played a part. No shame in losing at this stage. Am disappointed in the lack of urgency and chances created in the 2nd half. We looked fatigued.

As an Arsenal fan, I thought the tie was over when we didn't win at home. I know Arsenal are good, and I believe on ability they can win most games they play. But Bayern Munich are scared of nobody in any competition, let alone a team that has never won the Champions League before. To Bayern, Arsenal are just another team, and it showed today.

Fellow Gooner here mate....ur totally right. If you want to win at this stage of the UCL the first thing you MUST do is win at home! Even if you do that it's not guaranteed that you will go through...but if you don't you need a miracle to go through! Real Madrid got that miracle tonight...and we didn't.

Arsenal players were afraid of Bayern, l don’t think that they can find a better time to win against Bayern, a team that is struggling in BL and 3-4 players were injured. Guerrero was playing as a left wing who gave the assist and covered Saka. Bayer they knew that they can win. Same as Real vs ManCity.

If you check the coefficients the serie a whose been getting feratwd for having nobody left in the ucl is literally top of the list followed by bundesliga whilst la liga who everyone was overeating only have 1 team left and by the end of the week the epl are pribably either gonna have 1 or 0 depending on villas game and west ham and lirpool are 2 and 3 0 down

@@godfather95mbs33 PL is the most competitive league. If thats what one prefers, then it is the best to follow. Other leagues, while definitely not "farmers leagues", have serious lack of competition. From germany, its been the exact same 2 teams that ever show up in UCL, same with La Liga. And with Ligue 1, i mean, do we expect anyone apart from PSG to show up? And its not just UCL, just look at the top 2 spots in those leagues for the past decade. The top 2 spots in those leagues ae pretty much the same teams every year. While in the prem, you find so much variety, the top 2 teams are usually different every season. Theres a huge reason why Real, Barcelona, Bayern and PSG are able to reach the latter UCL stages so regularly (actually they dont do it every year still), and its because they have little to no competition within their domestic leagues.

If you compare player by player, English bias a side, Arsenal is definitely not better than Bayern and Madrid and City are very close, hence why the past 3 seasons they’ve been knocking each other out of the competition. Bayern also had the best player in the pitch in Musiala, yes their league form has not been exceptional, but usually it doesn’t need to be. It’s being highlighted this year because of Leverkusen’s excellence (who are still unbeaten in all competitions by the way)

@@wasimdbala349 that has nothing to do with luck. Real madrid isn't used to play the way they did today but they are very good at adapting. When u can see a great coach like ancelotti (an OG) who doesn't care bout ego and make the changes needed to win then it's not luck at all . Real madrid plays every match in UCL as life or death match. They won different UCL with different ways. Guardioma is a great coach but he'd rather lose than change his philosophy.

I’d actually argue that Bayern’s league form was a factor in their win. They have nothing to play for other than the champions league, and that definitely came across in how they played, they had a hunger that arsenal didn’t. Arsenal lost at the weekend and their heads just seem gone. They never even really looked like they had goals in them tbh

Arsenal has ZERO european pedigree, unlike Bayern who have won every important european competition. Behave. I said it then, and I say it now: history matters in the CL. Doesn't matter if it's one pf our weakest sides pf all time, we're still Bayern one of the greatest Clubs in european history, unlike Arsenal. Well they were all PL players, what do you expect. Henry said it earlier, he will always wear the Arsenal hat and that‘s ok, that‘s what I want from a club legend. And it wasn‘t like Arsenal didn‘t have a chance. Especially the first half was very leveled. The experience made the difference but Arsenal was a worthy opponent unlike the last few times they played against Bayern. Still a very young team with lots of progress to be made. Let Arteta continue building and this team will become even better. Loke at how long it took Pep to win the CL with City.

People saying Madrid parked the bus and don’t deserve the win? It’s called tactics, that was their plan and they fought for that win. Madrid has a straight out attacking play style which suffers against City’s possessional play. Obviously they chose to play on the counter. Would city change their possession play style and play direct attacking football with Madrid? Never, they’d get battered. The great thing about Madrid is that they have the ability to adapt.

With Arsenal, I think one of the issues is that Arteta doesn’t rotates his players enough. Saka as an example needs a rest, keep him fresh, he also needs a cover player that gives him a little competition so that he can continue to develop his game. Arsenal also desperately needs a striker and a LB.

Since Kimmich got humbled by the media and Tuchel in Germany, he plays now the right way and how surprising they are winning again! Kimmich as RW is World class and to me the best attacking defender by a landslide he finally realized that he is just better in that position. The way he manhandeld Martinelli in those 2 games with such ease speaks volume. I always hated him on the CDM because he thinks he can and has to do it all and was too often all over the place leaving huge gaps in the middle. This will also benefit Germany at the euro.

The lack of actual superstars is what hurt us more than anything. Business end and UCL is more of a a factor when individuals rise to the occasion than anything else. We were not horrid we were able to get some big results against some big teams away from home. We just lacked that tactical edge needed as Wenger was too rigid in his style at times. We beat all the big sides but were never able to beat Bayern or Barcelona for some reason and of course we only made one final but horrid would imply we never made it out the groups way over the top
