Heptapyrgion - The infamous prison of Thessaloniki 

Heptapyrgion is a Byzantine fortress in the acropolis of Thessaloniki and was the last line of defense of the city.
However, the Greeks know it much more as a prison with inhumane conditions where people were tortured and murdered.
