I appreciate how you aren't afraid to show your emotions. A lot of martial arts coaches feel the need to always act like a robot and you're just you (as best we can tell as viewers)

For all the asshole vibes Mike tries to give out, this video was very telling with regards to what he's actually like with people, and why Wonderboy said he's way nicer in real life than you'd think he is! XD Big grats to Natalia.

I don't know you young lady, but I just wanted to say I'm proud of you because that took a lot of guts to get out there. You couldn't have a better coach and that helps a lot, but in the end it was you who walked out there and fought alone in the circle. Well done!

Cheers! I love to see this. I stared MMA at 41. I'm still training. I am putting serious thought into accepting 1 or 2 Kick Boxing/Muy Thai fights, and an MMA match or 2. I will be documenting my journey. TLDR: Videos like this inspire me to display my journey. No matter how difficult.

First time competing jitters are real, even at the amateur level (I never went pro in kickboxing or MMA). I was puking in the locker room beforehand, I was really nervous. She handled it really well! And performed admirably too. Well done! The post fight fugue is also pretty strange.

Man if I could give this video ten thumbs up, I would. Mike, I'm so grateful you shared this. It's very heartening to see your coaching and the repoire you guys have. You really care about the success of your students. And Natalia, you are AWESOME! I'm a chubby mom of two who recently started Muay Thai. For the last few years after the kids go to bed I've been watching hundreds and hundreds of boxing and MMA videos, thinking I could never do that kind of thing in a million years. One of my father-in-law's favorite things to say to me is, "If a man wanted to beat you up, there's just nothing you could do about it." He likes to tell me that if my husband wanted to beat me that I couldn't do anything (which is absurd because my husband is a gentle man and would never do that. My father-in-law can't seem to comprehend that). He says it again and again. I didn't really know what to say, so I just stayed quiet. With all this radical feminist stuff now I see a lot of women around me who are (understandably) angry at being vulnerable, angry about guys who have been putting them down their whole lives, and they get caught in the trap of thinking they are physically the same as men. But that's not reality, and getting caught in that thinking ultimately isn't helpful. I joined Muay Thai and he found out and gave me an earful. And every time I trained with the guys I was aware of how much smaller and weaker I was. And I kept hearing him say those things in my head and after a while I thought, "Well...what's the point?" I got caught in that hole for a long time. It kept me from going. But that's when I realized there's a whole other part to training. There's a whole other fight going on in my head. I thought I was the only one having to deal with it. But as I talked to the other people at my gym, I realized a lot of other people were dealing with that in their own ways. They would get beat down...but they came back. Men and women. One time after I started training, my father-in-law was watching a crime show on TV. They showed CCTV footage of a woman being brutally assaulted by a man on a train. And the conversation got around to self defense and he sat down at the table and said the thing he always loves to say. He wanted to remind me that I was no match for a man. That time I looked at him and said, "Maybe not. But I can make myself hard to hurt." And he laughed. But who cares? I've come to realize that type of exchange is just another type of sparring. It's just another opportunity for training. I want to get in that ring and do a real fight some day. Thanks again Natalia and Mike :)

The amount of times I’ve heard that from my father was incomprensible. I refused to believe if confronted with a man I should surrender. If Im going to go down- I’m going down with a fight! Show your children how strong their mom is! Be hard to hurt!

Good for you! I just wanna say that it's also complete BS. Obviously a bigger stronger opponent has an advantage, but fighting isn't a game of certainties, and I've known plenty of women with wicked punches and kicks that could take a dude out especially an over confident one. I hope you keep going and challenge him to a sparring match in a few years time and whip his ass

There is always someone tougher than you, that's no reason to just give up. Yes, in a full on fight most women have trouble against the average man. But abusers, on the street and in a relationship, aren't looking for a fight. They are looking for someone who will fold at the slightest threat of violence. Everyone can learn to not be that kind of victim. Keep up the training!

Your body shows nervousness when confronting your opponent. In the combat sport when you have fun you show less nervousness and are aware of what's happening, you pick up the opponent's strategies and tehiques fighting styles too!
