Hiya everyone,
We have been pretty busy work wise lately so uploads have been a little slow but they will keep coming!
Jamie was pretty mad for a while after watching this.
She likes justice to be served in films and hates unfairness with a passion so yeah ...the ending didn;t go down too well.
Hope you enjoy the reaction and see you soon!

Great reaction, guys. I'll never forget the first time I saw this, and for some reason I don't think I'll ever get tired of watching other people fall into that same hole. 👍

Great reaction guys. It's refreshing to see people who seem to appreciate the absolute despair the characters must've felt to make that decision. In their eyes it really was the end of the world. I've seen so many reaction channels utterly slating this film, hating on the final characters for being idiots or cowards, saying "there's no way I would've done it that way." Another popular comment is "they should've just waited." For how long? Hours? Days? They had no food, no water, no idea if anyone else was alive and were certain they were facing imminent death. They had one final decision to make - a quick, painless death or who knows what? They ALL came to the same conclusion because they ALL felt the same way. That alone should tell you just what they'd been through, what they were feeling and just how hard that decision was to make. Nobody chooses death lightly. Only the father had the added horror of knowing he was to be the executioner, that he also had to kill his own child, THEN face a gruesome death. What if after he shot them, he opened the door and was instantly attacked by swarms of creatures and died a slow, agonising death? Would that have made their decision the right one in the doubters minds, knowing the rest had been spared the agony? I think that's the whole point of that ending - to provoke genuine emotions and get people really thinking and talking about the movie. Clearly it worked because it's still being discussed 16 years later. My first reaction was disbelief, quickly followed by anger, which then turned to sadness and empathy towards the father, thinking how utterly destroyed he would be. Admittedly it is a bloody grim ending but you can't deny that like it or loathe it, it really does make you think. The only other film I've seen that provoked similar reactions for me was Seven (or Se7en as they called it) with Brad Pitt. Another one with a bloody grim ending but another excellent movie. Personally, the second I saw that huge, hairy, 8 legged bastard shooting acid webs at people I'd have grabbed the gun and blown my fucking brains out. But that's just me. Keep the reactions coming!

In the book, David Drayton, his son Billy, and two other survivors escape from the supermarket where they were trapped by the mist and the creatures inside it. They drive across Maine, hoping to find a safe place or a way out of the mist. Along the way, they encounter various horrors, such as a giant spider and a tentacled beast. They also witness the death of David’s wife, who was killed by a creature in their home. They eventually reach a hotel near the border of New Hampshire, where they decide to rest for the night. David scans the radio channels and hears a faint transmission that mentions the word Hartford. He interprets this as a sign of hope and whispers it to his son before falling asleep.

As much as I liked this movie, I WISH they would've stuck with the original ending, because THIS ending is just, too much...

I hope these "as we go" help 1. In context it is similar to what King did with The Stand except in this case it's monsters and not a virus. 2. Jeffery DeMunn is known as a favorite of director Frank Darabont, who has cast him in all four of his films: "The Shawshank Redemption" (1994), "The Green Mile" (1999), and "The Mist" (2007). All King adaptations. He was also in what King himself says is the best adaptation of his work. "Storm of the Century". 3. William Sadler also was in Shawshank and The Green Mile. 4. Frances Sternhagen was in "Misery" by King. 5. Marcia Gay Harden kills it. 6.The big guy that goes out with the rope around his waist "brass balls" was going to be King doing that role himself, but Darabont shot him down. 7. This is not how the book ends. Darabont wanted this ending. King later said that as horrific that it is he likes it better. What makes this ending more devastating is he has to live with it the rest of his life 🥵 8. The picture of the cowboy IS an Easter egg from King's "Dark Tower series. 9. The cool thing about this story is since the things are from other dimensions, they can be anything. 10. Stephen King. You're welcome.

11:32 This shows a connection to other Stephen King books. At this point, Mrs Carmody is being influenced by the big bag guy in the Stephen King universe. You even hear the one common thing said by those under his influence, "my life for you." Everything she says also comes true, due to her being told what will happen by the main villain of the Stephen King universe of books. Also, this film was directed by Frank Darabont, who also directed the Shawshank Redemption. He has explained that both of these films are centered around hope. One film about maintaining hope and the other about losing hope. The mist was never going to clear away until what is done, is done at the end of the film due to having lost hope. The woman that asks for someone to help her through the mist to get home to her children, most likely made it through the mist due to the protection of Maturin, who is the main good guy of Stephen King's book universe.

I read the book before I saw the movie, and was expecting the ending to stay true to the book. When that tank came in frame, there was silence in the theatres for like two seconds and then a loud gasp as people figured out what happened. I swear, like a half second before that gasp I stood up and literally shouted, YES! Just applauding the balls the director had to make a change like that. Everyone else was stunned, my date I went with hated me, it was the best. The BEST.

Send Jamie our regards for the lower jaw pain she must have felt from her anger during and after the film. The movie jabs you with the infuriating Mrs. Carmody and then bam! A fantastic showcase of the worst of humanity. Hope she didn't hit you too bad, Ryan. See you guys on the next one.

Even in the movies Stephen King ties his universe together. Don't understand what I mean? Look at the background of the opening. The paintings are the covers of The Langoliers, The Thing, and my personal favorite, The Gunslinger

I've seen this movie too. And I bawled at the end when he killed those people and his own son especially after at the part when the army people showed up 😭😭😭 and I was like "Aw come on son of a bitch he could've waited a few minutes it's like he did it for nothing." 😭😭😭😭 And that was the second time I cried at a horror movie. The first was Train to Busan. 😭😭😭😭😭😭💔💔💔💔💔💔

The ending is no more horrifying when innocent people are killed in any film. The point was to show that life does not always have a happy ending, The good guys don't always win. Such as life. If the movie has brought out the appropriate emotional response due to a great story line and character development then it has done its job. You wouldn't have had that response if you hated the film , you were so engaged that the ending made you sad and even angry. No that is good film making.

Brutal Dark Depressing motionless Terrifying Horrible Ending. I Saw this movie back in 2008 in Cairo Egypt with Mates and it was a horrible day because we spent the next week talking and argue about if we should saw it again in another theaters many times because we loved it. This movie was great enough to have the darkest ending in the history, i don't think there was an ending that brutal and depressing, of course there are so many sad endings or maybe too sad for the audience, but this one isn't just sad, it is brutal and very dark. you feel gut ranched after watching it. and by the way Stephen King The author said that this ending is much better than his ending in the novel, and he wondered why he didn't thought of this ending. and other thing , Frank Darabont the director told the studio to keep this ending without any changing and if they done any changes to the ending, he will leak the script anf the scenes to other studios and the media. so they agreed to never touch the movie and the ending as he wanted.

*Hot* take: the end is a joke. First time I was horrified. Second I got teary eyed. Third I laughed. It's the same end as Holy Grail: all audience expectations and hopes are thrown in a bin. Stories _aren't_ supposed to end like this. Once you remember that this *isn't* real, no one actually died, its just a movie, it's just for fun... it's hilarious as you scream along with Thomas Jane. Not a popular opinion, I bet a nickel. But I'd bet 5 bees that Frank Darabount would appreciate my take.
