You can't just take land from five sovereign states and expect to become something real. Even if you managed to, you can expect to survive economically if you are exteremely hostile with every one of your neighbours and landlocked. The Iranian language branch which Kurdish belongs to (subset of the Indo-Iranian language branch, which consists of an Indic and an Iranian branch) only emerges in about 2000 BC. This is evident by comparing Avestan and Old Indic, which are highly mutually intelligible and attested from about 1300 BC. The West/East split occurs even later. To the best of my knowledge, "Northwest Iranian" vs. "Southwest Iranian" is a geographic term of convenience, not a proper language branch grouping. How in the world could then the Kurds be mentioned by the Sumerians, as Kardu? Surely by far the more likely etymology for "Kurd" is the Middle Persian "kwrt", meaning "nomad"?
