@@christianorsos If you mean King Felipe, he speaks fluent English. He grew up speaking English with his mother and has a master degree from Georgetown University. He delivered a speech in British Parliament in mostly English. But in state banquet, he must speak his own language since he's the head of state of Spain. All the guest have a copy of translated speeches on their table.

@@lsmith9249 Actually Spain does have a ceremonial crown. It is displayed on a cushion at the proclamation of a new King by the Spanish Cortes (equivalent to the British Parliament), but the King never wears it.
Is anyone else finding as many videos about the Queen as they can? I know Her Majesty found these dinners to be essential, but I bet she would have given anything for a cozy sweater, and a comfy chair to sit next to her corgis.
The best argument I can find on why a monarchy should be abolished (especially if it has been constitutionally sound like Britain’s) is that it forces a person to live a life of service to a country for decades or even most of her life. The wealth and privilege is hardly worth it when one cannot enjoy setting one’s own schedule and living a life of privacy. It makes more sense to abolish celebrities.

@@farinaldo - there is a difference between a formal address, such as « vuestra majestad...etc.” and ‘formal language. The term implies there are two distinct VERSIONS of a language, formal and informal. Felipe was simply using the proper way in which royalty is addressed, in standard, correct Castilian. That being said, anything Felipe says sounds beautiful, my favorite royal and I’m very proud of him!
