As someone with PSTD, I appreciate the way you handled the topic in a very sweet romance. I spent years thinking I wouldn't find someone who could love my broken bits. I was worried about my nightmares disturbing my husband. But the right person really doesn't see it as a burden. I can't put into words how genuinely unbothered by my symptoms my love is. It's more than him just taking them in stride; it's a complete acceptance without any judgement or criticism. It's allowed me to be less critical of myself. This is what I want for everyone with PTSD. It made me cry sappy, happy tears imagining that outcome for the couples in your novel.
Your comment may have made me tear up a bit. I'm so glad you found a wonderful person to love you for you. I hope you continue to heal and find peace. Thank you for listening. :-)
Where has Sally Britton been all my reading life? This is just the kind of book I love. The time period, the story, just lovely. Thank you for sharing.
@@AuthorSallyBritton I just started listening to Rescuing Lord Inglewood and realized I have definitely read that. I will have to go back and see what of yours I haven’t read! After I finish with Esther and Silas though…..😀
@@AuthorSallyBritton Yes, a good narrator can make, or break, an audiobook. That said, they need good material to ‘make’ one, and your writing is very good. 👍
A splendid heart-warming story, full of tenderness, honest feelings and selflessness, at the same time: lots of bravery from Myles to deal with the bulllies.... Thank you Ms. Britton.
Best story yet 💕 As Pippa was walking over to wake her husband while in a nightmare, I was warning her to not touch him!!! My dad was in the Pacific in WWII. My Grandpa went to wake him up and my dad choked him almost to death before my dad realized what he was doing.
Omg Isaac making an appearance here caught me by surprise, how nice! My mind roamed to him several times during the story, obviously because both male characters have been wounded in war but I didn't expect to hear mention of our Baronet. This made me so happy :')
I agree, so lovely to see the Inglewood characters making an appearance in this lovely story. I too was thinking of Sir Isaac since the beginning of this book. ❤
This story has deeply touched my heart. Not only is this a tender love story, but you have integrated the problems and needs of returned soldiers. Thank you so much for a beautiful story. And thank your wonderful narrator.
A very moving story that informed and entertained. The characters are realistic and multidimensional, and the difficulties they encounter are not easily resolved for the sake of a happy ending. Thank you for your excellent story.
I am in the middle of house renovations at the moment and am currently hiding in my daughters bedroom to escape the noise, dust and workmen coming and going. This story and others in the series have been a most wonderful escape from the chaos that surrounds me presently and I have adored becoming lost in the narrative over a cup of tea every chance I get. Wonderful! Thank you so much. ❤
This gift is not near enough to show my appreciation for your hard work and generosity in sharing your lovely stories, but I hope will encourage others to show their thanks with small (or large!) gifts, as well. Thank you!
Goodness! What a timely story. Unfortunately timely almost anytime in our history. 😢We narrowly escaped Vietnam horrors when my husband was sent to Germany. But we have friends then and now who were not so fortunate. We fly our flag in honor of those we know who returned home with the severe problems addressed in this story. 😢Thank you. Note: Georgette Heyer years ago wrote a historical novel including facts and horrors of the same war you included in this novel.
Georgette Heyer's novels are works of art. I love them. And I agree with your sentiments here. Veterans deserve so much more from our community in terms of support and understanding.
A delightful love story with a twist. The sad aftereffects of war. The continuing appearance of characters from previous books. What is there not to love? Well done to both the narrator and the production teams. More please ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Sally, I love your books. Your main characters and servants are so kind and giving and the stories are beautifully written. Thank you so much for sharing them with us. ❤❤❤
Wonderful story. I’ve read it before in book format, but it’s so delightful to listen to an audiobook version. I got teary eyed during several parts. Laughed out loud at other parts. Always a good thing when a storyteller can do that. Not all author has that ability! Thank you Sally again for your wonderful gift of storytelling! 🙂🙂📖📖
Thank you for this audiobook. What a lovely storyline. I really enjoyed it and will be reading all of your audiobooks. Am so happy to find regency stories without much explicit intimacy descriptions and its so great to find a writer who remembers the lower class of the regency era and the emotional trauma of war. Thanks for sharing.
Another joy! I don't know how you handle writing sadness and frustration unless you already know how you are going to get them out of it. I would be in tears the whole time.😉 I listen to these mostly while I sleep, so I have to listen to parts over and over to get into a section I don't remember. It makes an interesting way to read. It is like, every time you pick up your book, you don't remember where you left off. By the time I complete the book, I have actually listened to it several times. I'm glad I love your books so much! 😁
Oh I loved it! And that epilogue, I don't usually enjoy epilogues but I loved this one. I love that there is an ideal family relationship that we can all at least strive for, if not have. An intact family unit who are loyal and loving is a beautiful happily ever after. Thank you for sharing!
What a clean, refreshing change to many of the other Regency/Historical romances that I have found on RU-vid audiobooks! I thought this author would be boring without all the “sexy” parts( ya know, all the seductive scenes, etc…), but I’ve realized that it is the love story that I truly enjoy! Thank you for the wonderful feel-good, beautifully written stories
I prefer clean books! I don't want nor need smut in my books or shows! Please, let me know of the ones you didn't like, if you like seductive scenes. They sound like ones I would like.
Another beautiful story, Sally! I love the admirable characters you created and how you spotlighted challenges returning soldiers and their families might face. Thank you for sharing the audiobook!
This is such a splendid book. I adore your work and the attention for this missing part of history. Thoroughly enjoyed the connecting between the different components of the regency society. Building the hospital, even as an imaginary, it's so heartwarming. As we know such institution is so ideal, and back then it was probably ahead of their time. This has been amazing, will definitely listen again.
Also listening from South Africa. I keep Googling for the books availability here, but it seems Amazon is the most likely place I would be able to get the books in print. I am blessed to be able to listen to them at least for now. ❤
What a lovely story, the best audiobook I have listened to during these two years in my sickbed. Thank you so much for uploading this exceptional book. So well written and equally well narrated. ❤
Wonderful, wonderful stories. They even make dusting possible. Sensitivity, compassion, love and optimism shine through in the characters and story line - food for my soul. Thank you, Sally.
I enjoyed it so much more than I expected I would. It was perfect. Nice flow to the language, no major upheavals, lovely love story, very relaxing and good for my blood pressure ;) Thank you!
Your character arc for Pippa was clear and lovely -- I like how you helped her realize who she was as she grew, instead of like forcing herself to grow because of said realization. Your descriptions of how a man of action and sense would feel being so confined by his circumstances felt very authentic. Men, as we know, must work and care for others in order to build self-respect, and you illustrated that nicely. In a way, both of them needed to get out of their own self-concerned habits. Anyhoo, very well done once again. Thank you for this gift!
Perfect! Loved this book. I liked that the story line wasn't driven by a lie or over the top melodrama. It was delicate and peaceful...and the narrator matched the cover very well.. 😉
This is SO good! I have been listening to your books as I work and I was so refreshed by the unique, tender, and emotional stories you write. The pacing of this story was amazing. It kept me so excited and rooting for the characters. I love love love the way you write romances! It seems like most romance books I pick up are just cliches and tropes with no real substance. Great work, and thank you for putting it on RU-vid where everyone can enjoy it.
I have fallen asleep listening to your books. This one I have listened about 3-4 times. This story has been my favorite. My husband served 25 years in the military. I love the part of the story of the VA Hospital in the country setting , helping the wounded rehabilitate.
Such a well written story and I love the narration. Thank you for exploring this issue. It was lovely to hear a continuation of Adam and Elaine’s story while seeing what Miles and Pippa help them to accomplish.
Thank you for this wonderful, heartfelt history!! I loved every bit of the characters and thank you for the information provided at the end! great writing, so detailed and engaging!!
Delightful Well written just Absolutely fantastic author.. Wonderful Refreshing Descriptive powers. Nothing Was boring or Trite. How have I missed this Talented author Until now. Excellent Narration. Great book. Thank you
I’ve listened to many of your stories. They are great companions while doing tasks that mostly need my hands. But this story is my favourite by far. I loved seeing changes and growth in Philippa. Your male characters, despite their insecurities or maybe because of them, seem so much more mature in comparison to other romances i’ve read. I love how you wieve traumas, insecurities, especially this fellings of worthlesness into your works without making them feel heavy and dark. Just oposite! They are so ful of love and gentleness, that tou turn them into something soothing and optimistic. Thank you for sharing them. Thank you for writing them.
I’ve started listening to some of your audiobooks before, but frankly lost motivation due to inferior narration. You’ve found a real winner in this narrator. Enjoyed the book very much.
Thank you, when I wake up at night and I cannot go back to sleep, your genuine and wholesome stories are my only way to quieten my mind…the irony of this story and my experience is not lost on me:)
This one has been by far my favorite. A book can be just as romantic if not more without all the eroticism. I enjoyed this one a lot, and could not stop smiling and giggling while listening to this one. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
(17:17) I can't figure it out... For the past 15 minutes I've been listening, I've been trying to figure out why this author is the only one I enjoy listening to in this genre (well, besides Austen, Bronte, Wilde and those authors writing in that era). Honestly, I kinda hate regency romance novels written by modern authors - except for this author's... I can't figure out why. Maybe because the writing isn't all flowery and melodramatic, maybe because the story starts full-on right when the book starts, or maybe it's the likable characters, I don't know, but I'm hooked again into a story that I'm really liking. (2:21:53) LOL Best plot twist ever! Spoiler - She takes her life into her own hands and SHE proposes marriage! I love it! Oh! and I figured out why I like this author over all other current day author's in this genre - because her books feel historically accurate and the reasoning behind each characters' decisions is always sound and believable - and the other reasons I listed above... Sigh... This book just makes me so happy! lol Oh what a sweet, fun, tender book - I just wanted it to go on and on... I was so disappointed when in the prologue - spoiler - it was 10 years later - I wanted so much to have been a part of those 10 years... sigh - such a good book - so worth the listen!
Thank you. I am enjoying listening to your books so very much. I will start buying them, too. This way I can help my friends learn english... by reading and listening at the same time!!! I love your books because the ones that I've listen to have no descriptive sex passages. Gracias ♥️
@@AuthorSallyBritton you're writing is excellent and you seem to avoid using Americanisms in your language, which is wonderful given the genre. Is that deliberate? Your narrators are top notch too.
@@voulafisentzidis8830 Most of my friends writing Regency are also American - and we try our best to keep our Americanisms out of our books. But when you're raised in it, it's not always easy to know what is unique to our English compared to our friends overseas. 🙂
This is my second time listening to the story as I started with this and then went to the Ingelwood series. All the cameos make sense now!! Its like the Marvel Universe, but Sally Britton style! 😊 This time I let the desriptions of lighting, of emotions, of settings play as a movie in my head making it all the more dramatic and lovely. Thank you again for such a wonderful story!
I am so glad your second visit was so lovely! And yes...I can't resist a good cameo appearance. :-D I adore my characters and love when I have a reason to make them "visit" each other's stories!
I was so happy to find Sally’s books. I like a good old fashioned love story. With kisses only. When I listened to other books I always fast forward thru the sex scenes 😮
@@AuthorSallyBritton I liked the premise of this story and that Lady Phillipa manages her own life without resulting to the typical feminine wiles so often portrayed in this era. Yet she is loving and kind and has a keen understanding of those around her.
I didn't know this is a sequel to another book but thankfully reading through the comments I have learned it. Will look for that one as soon as I finish listening to this beautiful story and re-listen after having listened to the first book. 🎉
Mis Sally I enjoy this book like I never did any other, and I am MOST thankful that in your writing you do not have elaborated intimacy scene, that make it all the more pleasant, and of course the narrator so great her talent that make this book even so lovely, I so wanted to tell how marvelously please I am for having had the privilege to this book,I thank so much and Mis Jessica too❤
Excellent well written story. Thanks for your wonderful words in his bungling of his explanation of PTSD. You handled it extremely well. Really enjoyed the read. TY ❤
They really didn't have words for it. It breaks my heart to think of how many soldiers suffered from PTSD before people realized it wouldn't just go away. One of my kids did a paper on "shell shocked" veterans of WWI, and it just hurt to read about it.
Am I the only one who is tracing all these beautiful characters entering or being mentioned in the other books? It’s sooo clever. Even Miles’ mother being the woman who played the piano when in grief. Sooo good!!!
@@AuthorSallyBritton I can only imagine the research! It just wasnt spoken of I imagine.? Before of Vietnam vets, I only 'knew' one man who said he suffered from 'shell-shock'. He'd been in WW II and was acquainted with my grandparents. He couldn't work at a job bc of it but lived into his 90s. Thanks for all the sweet books..
@@lllowkee6533 You're exactly right. People didn't talk about it. They didn't even really have a name for it until WWI, when they started calling it "shell shocked."
