...Schuch is inside the music and in service to it, touching on the profound sense of humility so clearly intended by Bach...extra-ordinary, deepest thanks and bravo...)
The finest performance of this that I have heard. The lower dynamic near the end and the very deliberate conclusion are superb. The ending thus sounds natural instead of rather sudden as in so many other recordings. He really plays this as a prayer.
I call to thee, Lord Jesus Christ, I pray thee, hear my crying; Both lend me grace within this life And let me not lose courage; The proper path, O Lord, I seek, Which thou dost wish to give me: For thee living, My neighbor serving well, Thy word upholding justly.
Your performance ( for me ) is the best of all recordings I heard. The sound, the touch , legato, voicing - every note speaks deeply and with so much sensitivity. Thank you so much.
Herbert, you manage to take what I believe is the most sublime gem of Bach's small forms and bring grandeur to its perfection. I wept without control at the end. Thank you . . . thank you. I hope someday I can attend a performance of your true piano art.
Absolutely gorgeous. Thank you so much for sharing your artistry and dedication to the piano. And, many thanks for the piano technician’s brilliant preparation of this fine instrument.
I agree with John: Beautiful performance. At first I thought it was a little fast but the musicality of Herbert is great. Now I understand the connection to the 2end part. The fifth in the final major chord could be a little softer. Thank you Herbert Schuch!
From the first bar to the last chord: a swaying spirit of universal praying addressed to all people who believe in the power of pure art and its potential impact against everything that is evil and destructive on this planet. Thanks you, maestro Schuch, reminding me Haskil and Lipati; thank you, Johan Sebadtian Bach.
Nice. He takes a good tempo. Yes, the mood is prayerful and tends toward sad, perhaps regretful. Which mood it provokes is depends on you and what you bring to the listening experience. But one thing it is not (IMO of course) is a funeral dirge. Playing it too slowly makes it drag to the point where I get annoyed.
