I'm not sure if Giselle is naturally alive, or not but Herbie has the power to make other vehicles come to life. Since it is seen in the last movie (Herbie Rides Again) that Herbie can make dozens of Volkswagen Beetles come to life by simply just honking at them, and Herbie does the exact same thing here.
I think it's implied that he "feels/knows" when a car is alive. He was attracted to the Lancia before they even got close. So I always assumed he can "speak" to cars and if they are alive, they understand him and vice-versa.
But wait a minute, Herbie was a fickle date em and drop em type of car. Later on in this movie it is revealed by Jim and Wheelie just how many times he's done this. Jim says to a heartbroken Giselle. That Wheelie is right....and that so far they've had to tell this to a Fiat, a Thunderbird, and an Austin Healey. So herb is flavor of the month guy.
George Burns is the composer of the original of Herbie The Love Bug. His version might be the most recognized but the Herbie Goes To Monte Carlo version which was composed by Frank De Vol will always be the best one in my book.

The funny thing is, it IS Laguna Seca's corkscrew. Most of the qualifying race scenes were filmed there, but I believe all of the actual Trans-France race was filmed in France with the exception of a few scenes like Herbie driving into the lake, which was actually the same lake used for Herbie skipping across the water in The Love Bug.

This movie was much better than Herbie Goes Bananas or Herbie Rides Again. They also picked a lot of iconic 70s cars to be in this movie .my 2nf fav other than the original Love Bug movie

Also Dean Jones, R.I.P to the two of them, they were the best. Especially Don Knotts which he was seen in other Disney films, even he voiced a character in Chicken Little. He is a such a great guy and a best comedian, we would all miss Dean Jones and Don Knotts.
The unfortunate thing about this ship is that Giselle is a lancia and they are known for rusting away or having no breaks, which means there is pretty much only one way for this to end.
@@TheCarson116 oh absolutely, lancia isn’t actually that much if any more prone to this, honestly it has more to do with climate, however that one top gear segment, like many, lives rent free in my mind.
Sadly, in Herbie Goes Bananas it is alluded to that Giselle (the Lancia Scorpion seen in this movie) failed to “make a curve” in a race and Herbie not finishing that race. Thus Herbie being passed to Jim Douglas’s relative, setting up the scenario for Herbie Goes Bananas

I suspect the reason why they chose that Lancia to be Herbie's love interest is due to the way the headlights look when they open up, like a pair of eyes with eyelashes, gives the car character.

@@RantingBrummie That would not make sense to me especially since the Audi TT wasn't released until 1998, quite a few decades after Herbie & Giselle met, plus the fact that there's nothing between them that would logically lead to a TT being born. If you ask me the most logical thing to happen would be for them to have a family consisting of several VW Beetles & Lancia Scorpions (though how they'd actually come to be is another story).

Lucas Martínez Parra It goes by 2 names. The european name was Monte carlo. However Chevrolet had already trademarked the Montecarlo name for one of their cars in the United States, so here in the states we got the car as the Lancia Scorpion.
Notice when Herbie pops a mad wheelie, he becomes shorter. This is because it's a modified drag body. Also note that it's based from an oval model, and that the taillights are placed higher due to the rear apron cut higher.
