Hercules Beetle 🌎 ACTION Model 🌏 Pure Origami 

[Intermediate] How to fold a Hercules Beetle the closes its pincers when you press down on its back! This model looks realistic and although it might be challenging for some people to fold, it's actually from a relatively simple base -- a narrowed Blintzed Bird Base, and my method of teaching it is by precreasing a Waterbomb Base and then decreeping.

Usually during the sessions you'll come up with an idea for something you would like me to try to design and I'll walk you through the design process as you fold along. If we succeed in folding it we can record a video of our finished model if it's ok with you (and your parent), and there's a small chance I will teach it on my channel. During sessions we also sometimes play the game "You Fold I Fold" where we take turns making the next fold without knowing what we're folding.
A more economical way of getting guidance from me on how to design origami models is to participate in one of my group origami design classes which I hold the last weekend of every month as part of channel membership. The group Zoom sessions last 2 hours and are always the last weekend of the month (so, this weekend!), one during the day and one late at night for the other side of the world. The first half hour of each session consists of getting everyone's ideas, and then for the remaining 90 minutes I try to fold as many of the ideas as I have time for explaining as I go my thought processes. The students can either follow along with me or try to design the models on their own. In either case, it's a nice group learning experience.
