What happens when the maverick and santa cruz comes and owners lift them up. These are the unibody trucks nowadays. Does bashing the Ridgeline goes away? It is just like a having a dick circumsized or not...it is still a penis.
why dont ya wrangle up a big ole alligator put a saddle n little bootys on him with a hat n sherrifs star. right the gator around, thatd be the minty thing to do. aint no one going bumper to bumper with a 10ft ridable gator!
Awesome video!!! I have a 2wd and I’ve had people talk crap about it so I was happy to see you defending the 2wd people. The thing that I think is funny is that people will talk crap saying it’s pointless to lift a 2wd because it isn’t as capable off-road as a 4wd but the thing is wouldn’t I especially want to lift a 2wd and put better tires on it in order to make it as off-road capable as possible... I mean to be honest in any kind of off-roading situation you are at a disadvantage having a 2wd but since I am at a disadvantage why wouldn’t I want to do everything possible to make my 2wd truck more off-road capable? 😂
Haters talk no matter what you have. You have a V6 they talk about you, you have the V8 they still talk about you not having a supercharger, it goes on and on. It's your money
Lift it! Who cares I'd it's not 4wd. But if you actually want a 4wd, don't lift it and save that money for a 4wd. Here's the deal. If you wanna get in to mild off roading and all that just spend the money on a 4x4. If you are mostly on pavement, then who cares, bro lift it, and get some better shocks.
I drive a 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche and I have graps on it.. It's a 2wd, I mostly drive pavement and dirt roads. I don't sink or bury my truck because it destroys the suspension. My 2wd will go anywhere I need to go within reason. I've been on dry dirt roads and very wet dirt roads and never got stuck. 2wd is just as goods as 4wd, especially when most of the guys that drive 4wd trucks never get muddy
Most of the guys who talk crap about 2wd trucks don’t even use their 4wd . They got a 4wd and put big rims and little rubber band tires on it. They don’t even take the truck off road. All they have is a 4wd pavement queen.
Let me learn ya something youngin’s. 2 Benefits to lift a 2wd truck: 1. Ground clearance for WHEN you wished you had it. 2. It will be is more capable off road with, (at the very least), All Terrain tires. Bonus: That look. If you’re a southern rebel, you’re probably used to going against the grain anyways.
Being an Arizona rat driving fast on crushed granite everywhere, why do I need 4WD? I believe when you lift a 2WD truck, it becomes what's known as a "Prerunner." I LOVE my lifted (4") w/ 33" tires) 2WD truck. I have plenty of ground clearance, and it's so light, all I need is a "come-a-long" if I get stuck. I don't run a winch.
learn ya something? huh, so thats why all the kids nowadays are braindead n sqauting there 2wd trucks that are crystal clean from all the pavement they drive on. your at fault arent ya! its your fault these kids are so lost and dumb. 4x4 only cuz if u aint then ur stuck n im not helpin ya get out so u can come join the real men. figure it out urself city boy
I live the Central Valley in California. I don’t see many trails or snow. I’ll go uphill the levees on the Delta for fishing at the most. A 2WD with a G-80 locker on my “15” Silverado is good enough for me!! Thanks for the content buddy👍🏼I’m on vacation 🏖🎢 and still enjoy your vids
I live in south Texas and it’s funny to see so many ppl who have 4x4 giant trucks and jeeps. Unless you go to the beach, there is no reason for it. It has snowed enough to need 4x4 once in the last 20 years. I drive a 4x2 Tacoma for my daily and have my old Tacoma that is 4x4 for when I want to go to the beach. Texas loves their big ol trucks but nobody ever uses the 4x4. Now if I moved back up north I would probably consider getting a 4x4 daily driver.
Love this. I was feeling iffy about lifting my 1984 Chevy 3/4 ton, but honestly I think you've changed my mind. If it looks good and it's cheap why not. Thank you for this!
3/4 ton square body’s will fit a 285/75r16 (33”) tire on stock suspension. They have great ground clearance. They sit quite a bit taller stock than the half tons. But go even more if you want. 😎 Might have use spring spacers in the front. Not much else available for them. Looked a couple years ago for my truck.
I live in the Houston area and I have never understood the locals insistence that a truck MUST have 4wd. The Houston area is compromised of Harris, Brazoria, Fort Bend, parts of Matagorda, and Montgomery Counties, and for the most part these areas flatter than a tans gender shim before transition....I think. I'm still working on that analogy.
When I was first looking for a truck I didn’t want a 2wd because I thought it was stupid and I would get made fun of for lifting it even though I never would use a 4wd but then I saw Larry and liked how it looked and then I thought 2wd were actually cool and it makes people mad too.
I have a 2wd with a locker and I overland a lot of the year in California and I never once have said I really wish I had 4wd . 99 percent of the time you won't need 4wd offroad unless your crawling which I have done in 2wd
its funny to see all the people who are making fun of people for lifting a 2 wheel drive truck. I bet that 4x4 they drive will never see even a ounce of mud or dirt in its life. Heck my work truck is a 1994 chevy c1500. I use it out on jobsites it gets beat up and dirty and used. Its the only truck I'll ever need. I just think that its funny that the 4x4 people get so butthurt about lifting a 2wd truck and that 2wd truck people get butthurt about getting made fun of for lifting a 2wd truck. At the end of the day who gives a shit what you do with your truck.
My biggest issue with 2wd trucks is I live in western South Dakota so as you can imagine the winters can get pretty crazy and it’s quite tough with only 2 wheels spinning instead of 4
I’m not really a Chevy guy so it pains me to include Chevy in this statement but I think Ford and Chevy have done a good job of somewhat keeping that square body/obs look in the newer trucks!!!
i bought my obs chevy when i was 15 and now im 16 and it’s 4wd and i wish it was 2wd because it’s cheaper to lift because i cannot afford a $1000 lift kit
I have a 2wd 99 s10 blazer that has a 2" lift and I installed 2" receivers on the front and rear that I use for a removable winch. I don't take it into bad spots very often, but with this setup I keep the better fuel milage of a 2wd and can still go to some places a 4wd can go if I'm willing to use my winch.
I’ve done a LOT of off roading lifted 2wd trucks. They work well for desert exploring. Fire roads. Double track. Etc. Good ground clearance, good tires, and a locking rear will get you pretty far. Just know your limits. Stay out of deep sand, deep mud, and wet snow. They usually ride smoother than a typical torsion bar 4x4 too.
its 2wd. so you spend all that money n time lifting a 2wd truck, for what? your still not going anywhere in the snow your not going offroad in the mud your either spinnin those 2 wheels with no weight. or you add 600ibs to your bed laying right over ur axle and guess what? you just fucken sink then spin. your literally putting a lift on a 2wd truck for your own ego, you want people think its a real truck you probably lie about it being 4wd when they ask. its a waste of money. 2wd u lower n make a street truck thats fast af n lifts front tires of the ground in pavement. if u want a truck truck, just get a 4wd. sell ur pos 2wd n go buy a 4wd n never make that mistake again. weve all been young n desperate like hell yeah brother ima go get a truck. oh this ones only 2k and has 90k miles oh its 2wd owell ill just lift it spend 1k on bs to make it the same height as a stock 4x4!!!! no thats kid shit bro just go get a 4x4. park the 2wd, throw a ls3 in her and some fat back tires n destroy that drivetrain. my favorite truck is my 91 ford f150 351w thats 2wd.... i got an 88 4x4 i got a 93 chevy k1500 4x4 i got an awd 2013 durango with a 6.1l i got a challenger thats rwd. that 2wd ford has the memories n respect tho cuz how good its been to me and how long ive owned it. yeah ive been in every lil crack n cranny on her to take care of it but god damn is that truck in my heart. im in the north too so it cant be drive 6 months outa the year and trucks that old arent around cuz of rust. i would never lift it. i had mxt all terrains on it and it did look 4x4 but it still just spun tires if ya stopped your stuck. its a waste of money n time lifting a 2wd when i can just get in the 4x4 thats lifted.
Ive got a 00 2wd Ranger and an 02 GMC 1500 2wd both stock suspensions and I run my trucks anyplace I want to. Ive had them in 2 feet of snow and mud up to the frames. Part of it is just how you drive it. Both of mine are manual shift, I wouldnt have one any other way.
Just put a 6 inch lift on my 2wd truck 😂 Yeah 4 wheel drive is nice to have every once in a while but honestly a 2wd truck is very capable. I’ve had my 2wd truck for 3 years now and I’ve never needed 4x4. But awesome video!👍🏻
I have a 2000 suburban 2 wheel drive. Not looking to spend a ton of money. Really just want it to sit up 2 or 3 inches higher. It's a spare vehicle so it rarely gets driven. Is there a kit on ebay you'd recommend. Like I said it may get drove once a month 15 or 20 miles to town and back.
Bought my first truck (NBS rcsb) and mostly for utility and doing light towing for my project car. Having a truck for such short time I’ve already been in 2 situations in which I would need the utility of a slightly lifted or leveled truck. As much as I would love to drop it and go for an old school look, I don’t want to give up the functionality of what makes a truck a truck.
Drove a Sierra 4x4 leveled 2.5 with 33s for 3 years in MN winter and took it off road with my buddies every summer, never used 4 wheel drive except one time to pull myself out of a snow bank I purposely drove into to challenge a cummins as a joke lol
Pre runner trucks have a special place in my heart. I don’t look at is as they are missing having 4wd I look at them more as a super easy platform to build. Easy to work on, if you re gear it you only have to do 1 axle. Also 2wd trucks get better gas mileage which is huge for me and they are also considerably lighter which is also huge for me. I’m building a 2000 ecsb 2wd Silverado right now and it’s turning out awesome so far.
certainly not opposed to lifting a 2wd. That’s why I’m here. Because I want to lift mine. 2wd 2001 Sierra. But also… but also, a 7 inch lift on a 2wd?! 😅 come onnnnn, that’s a bit much don’t you think? i did not know those were available on 2wd before I watched this! haha, to each his own. My thinking is, I want to level mine and then put a modest 2 inch lift on it. And some better shocks. But no suspension mods per se. All for the look!😅🎉🎉
k but also i still want a tricked out 4wd. Just can’t afford one yet haha. Especially with all this recent inflation in 2021-2024. Which is primarily why I bought another used 2wd truck. And I realized ayeeee why not go ahead and put a body lift on it for fun? So I am!
Hi great video. If ur going off road Then clearance becomes important. I live in British Columbia Canada. so its nice to have a 4x4, but i feel a 2 wheel drive is also ok . The reason being is i would just carry a big winch up front and have it removable to the back of the truck also. Also have 1 or 2 single part pullies can get u out of almost anywhere. 4x4s get stuck also ,so a winch ,a couple of pullies for pulling from different directions , because trees arent always where u want them lol, and of course some extra cable. So to me the only difference is u actually have to get out off ur truck to set up the rigging. So u will be home for dinner just the same lol
Most people don't need 4x4, and if you do, and want the security, get one. That said, all valid points in the video. Cheaper, less things to go wrong, can usually find them with lower milage and not clapped out or abused. Still a truck.
man, im going for it! will upgrade my mitsubishi strada 2021 2wd, lift, tires, mags. everything! because i want it look good, and because why not? its my fckin money!! leta go!!! thanks man, this video really made me decide. subscribed!
The hell with what people think! A lifted truck is a lifted truck. Reality is, unless you go off road constantly, you’re in 2wd 99% of the time. I have a 4x4 truck, and live in the northeast. It snows here. A lot. And my next truck for certain, will be 2wd and I’ll lift it. Here’s why. It’s the tires. Even in snowy conditions, I usually never have to put in in 4wd. Most of the time, we drive on paved roads. Roads that get heavily plowed and salted. 4wd just isn’t needed. Your tires are the only thing touching the road. Invest in good tires and watch the “need” for 4x4 disappear… again, I’m talking about the average person. Not somebody that goes mudding or crawling. Normal driving, 2wd is all that’s ever needed
thanks. im up here in ohio and there are uphill areas in Hocking hills. never took my 2wd truck and was wondering if it would be any good. my tires are alittle slick btw
You said it. 4x4 gets you OUT of situations. You go driving around in 4x4 and get stuck, you're f'ed. I have an '89 F150 that's a 4x4, and basically stock suspension, I replaced the worn out coils with 2" taller ones so it level. Its still sits higher than my 2wd '99 Ranger that has a 4" lift. Both have 31" BFG Ko2's. Ive never heard anyone actually talk crap about a lifted 2wd. Everyone and their mom has a lifted truck in SoCal. Every kid in highschool dreamed of driving a prerunner, which by definition is 2wd.
I'm looking at a 2000 S10 2wd that's completely stock. All id do to it is a 1 inch. Maybe a 2 at most. Lift and just slightly bigger all terrain tires. A brush guard and light bar for night time. Maybe later on a roll bar but Id like to have a tool box
Bought my c2500 really cheap especially for Southern California, although RWD truck gets clapped out by the Edgar's but with the C2500 long bed being unattractive to them. I was able to buy it for $1300 last year.
Isn't a lifted 2wd basically what Toyota and Nissan call a Pre-Runner and Desert Runner? Why is everyone's ego so fragile? Geeze. Throw a winch on and get a couple of those Trax boards to keep in the bed, you'll get out of most anything. Cheers!
I agree with this video I just bought my first 2wd and I own 2 4x4 trucks and 2 4x4 Toyotas I wanna rip my 2wd around when I get her rolling like this idea bro I lift my cars I don’t do lower kits
Do it bc its your truck. 99% of my rigs purpose is to commute. I dont mind playing in the dirt but im not rock crawling even if i had 4wd. I cannot afford to damage my only rig
Well i dont understand why dudes lift 4×4 trucks with off road tires and all the toughest looks and never touch dirt , rather lift 2wd and actually go off road (nut mud bogging) than 4×4 lifted trailer queen ! Smh
I might buy a C20 1985 and I want to add a slight lift because K10s are non existent or over priced for something that was built before I was born, so I want a slight lift and slightly larger wheels but I don’t want a bunch of losers trash talking me
haha i lifted an old chevy s10 with the supreme suspension kit. All my friends that know anything about cars always i go no crazy offroad says, hey put the 4w, or connect the low etc. And they keep really imprese when they notice that its not a 4w ahhaha
I have a 97 2-wheel drive Silverado finding out that I need sway bar bushings do I need drop brackets or end links for a 6-in Rough Country lift would it make it better on angles?
I can agree 2wd are most definitely grandpa trucks don't know why that is maybe it's from the days of 2wd being the common thing. I've gotten all of my 2wds from grandpa's.
If you’re not rock crawling you don’t need 4wd , especially not in California, I have a 2002 4Runner 2wd and I’ve gone on a lot of trails and I’ve made it with a nice lift and tires.
I recently purchased my first truck, which is a 4x2. I've been researching for weeks for a lift kit but I can find anything. I got alot of valuable information from your video.
people that talk smack about lifted 2 wheel drive trucks obviously know nothing about the prerunner world. a 2wheel drive with good suspension and a limited slip posi rear end. will blow your mind what it can do
Most owners of a 4X4 live in a suburb with well maintained roads. Most of the time we drive on road. Unless you live in the woods or mountain then yes get yourself a 4x4.
@@jasonnuno132 it is better to just buy a new one but the conversion highly depends on how you get the parts needed I did a conversion and spent less than $850
i umderstand it as its cheap and if you dont go offroad then sure. the problem with most of the people(me) we see it from a practical use. you get a lift for "more" towing capacity and more articulation and or larger tires for the use case of rock crawling your daily driver
You have lift so you can roll over stuff,,you also need to rotate them tires at times so why not mud tires front and back, 2 wheel drive less to break for an every day truck,, not to mention washed out roads, not a problem in most common cases. I'd do it
We have a 99 F-150 it's like yours but it's red going to be lifting it getting the windows tinted Sunday it's in straight shape but it's a step side short bed
