I understand. I sure hope you do well and find your home. I went through a place here called INHP. I got a $6,000.00 grant for my first condo I bought. It is a state agency. Maybe you can go under NCSHA.org. I was also offered enought funds to fix up my condo if i wanted it, but I didnt take it. My mortgage happens to be superlow for a big condo. Best of luck
The government DOES use advertising. They print millions of brochures and create websites, they hire full time case managers to tell people about their programs. They just dont use ALL forms of advertising for all programs.

I think the info is good but for whatever reason most people wont qualify for these grants. Otherwise more people would have realized and took advantage of all that free money way back in the 90's. I hope someone has already helped you as this was two months ago. But here are some basic tips on how to get money for school. 1. Visit the college and career center at your high school. Even at 22 you can ask them for help. They will have a list of local scholarships and will help you navigate the FASFA process. 2. Fill out your federal FASFA form: fafsa.ed.gov/. This will determine if you are eligible for federal and department of education loans which are preferable over private loans. Unfortunately at the age of 22 you will still have to include your parents tax information so ask them for a copy of their 2013 taxes. 3. Apply for LOCAL scholarships. check out your career center or just Google scholarships "your city, state". Don't waste your time applying for national scholarships unless you have an extraordinary talent or academic record. 4. Get a job and go to school part time at your local college. Some jobs may also help pay for your education (although these are getting far and fewer in between) 5. this is last on my list. Do NOT get a private loan if you can at help it. It is a TRAP! Unless you are going to school for something that you have immediate job prospects and security you will find yourself unemployed and in major debt. These tips are really basic and you may have tried them all out already. Just don't lose hope, if you keep trying you will find a way to get through college. Remember that there are a lot of people who understand what you are going through and are here to help. All you have to do is ask. The best of luck.

I am a single woman hat lives in portage ,IN . I have been own my own since 15 and helped raise my sister and nephew s. I am a semi retired 59 yr old with health problems and hubby who is 59 is the major bread winner Earns about 48,000 a yr. and he just had heart problems and had 2 stents put in and has Ryder syndrome a form of arthritis and we are really struggling with keeping bills and mortgage paid. Mortgage has been reduced a few yrs ago with Making homes affordable act .That helped us when I had to leave my job because of health issues and it was a state job so no disability was paid in so I do not get anything but 200 for retirement a month..The house is in need of some major renovations though and we are just keeping our head above water.
