"Here Comes Your Man" is radio friendly, that's true, but it kicks ass! I love "Gigantic", "Where is My Mind", "Hey", "Debaser" etc. too. Wow! What a band! Just gotta love 'em!
I love the Pixies. I especially love this videos take on overproduced pop music. I'm glad these guys helped found alt/indie rock, which is where the good music nowadays still exists.
god i miss being 16...i remember my best friend and i jumping on my parents bed singing this on top of our lungs. thats when mtv use to play ONLY videos....gawd i'm old.:D
Kate Page omg that's so perfect for walking down the aisle dude! Genius. And, gasp, you guys should totally do a wedding redo. Something crazy fun, with alcohol. Do it & I'll do some hip-hop karaoke. I know some really good rap songs. And you should hear me kick my freestyle flow. Niggas, it's great.
Awesome song & video. I saw these guys in concert in the early 1990's. It was in St. Louis, MO when they opened for Love & Rockets. This song comes from one of my 20 favorite albums of all time!
I really love a lot of Pixies tunes, but this one is special to me (also: "The Happening") It's such a brilliantly, violently bittersweet. You know right away there is a subtext, and you keep hearing, changing, still refining, as you hear the song for another ten, fifty, hundred times... Francis wrote it at 15 about the hobos who die in the earthquakes... Genius. Love his face at 2:16 ahah
I was a stage hand at one of their come back gigs in Australia. I was watching the gig from the side of the stage, then sneaked off from my boss in to the crowd and danced around with everyone:)
Weird, I went to bed after listening to this song (and never hearing of the band or song before), woke up with Southbend Bevy by Frank Black stuck in my head, but couldn't remember the lyrics or Artist at the time. Found out through searching that it was by Frank Black and in the process found out that the Pixes and Frank Black (or Black Francis) were once one in the same; and it's also his birthday. Coincidence? This guy is an awesome artist!
500 Days of Summer wasn't what brought me here. You know what did? The album Happy Bivouac by the Pillows. It's fantastic, and it has several Pixies references. It's always cool to hear great bands get inspired by other great bands, even when they exist on opposite sides of the globe. :)
Ahhh.... 1989. Or a period we just called "high school".... :-) You are indeed correct.... I couldn't quite recall the exact year Doolittle came out, but it was definitely right in the middle of that high school period of psychedelics and self discovery.... Ah, Pixies.
Honestly, I listened to just about everything when I was a kid. I loved 70's r&b with a burning passion (still do) and even dabbled in some Madonna. These guys (and the others) were the first bands that I liked for myself, not my parents. :p
Thanks, nice to see some others out there has some good taste in music NOT from the States. Anyway, I found about The Pillows from a not so popular anime called FLCL or Fooly Cooly. By then it was my first time encountering a foreign music band, I did not understand a lick of what they said, but I loved every single word and tune. And I will check those alternatives. Also, kudos to Kurt!
Perfect example of of Pixies - They refused to lipsync! There for very little in music videos were made. This video showed that! They are a live band and I got to see them in Albuquerque in February. - Wonderful!!!!
hey look! its the 1996 cast of Mad TV: Will Sasso on lead vocals, Alex Borstein on bass, Nelson Ascencio on lead guitar, and Bryan Callen on drums. you can't miss it!
