For the reflection on the bottle you can also do another little trick. Take a square acrylic mirror (or something similar) and cut out a half circle with the diameter of the bottle. Place the mirror on the table around the bottle, then the bottle will reflect it self, and you have a really nice reflection. Combine the two photos easily in Photoshop, job done 😉

I would like to know the model of the vertical stand. It will be a great help to my studio if you tell me the country of manufacture, the manufacturer, and the model of the vertical stand. I always watch RU-vidrs with a grateful heart. Thank you.

Hi! I have just discovered your videos! So happy! I have a question with regards to this video... am I correct in understanding, that when you do bottle photography, it's better to use the (non Prime lens) Macro lens and better to use a lens like an 18-55mm Zoom lens? thanks again for sharing your knowledge ;)
@photigy
@photigy 4 года назад
Well.. It all depends from the style you want to go with. I prefer not-so long lens for bottles, and since my macro is 90mm, I rarely use it for large subjects like bottles. In stead, I use something like 55mm prime. As for prime v.s zoom - prime will always give you a better quality, but in many cases for commercial work zoom will work just fine. close it down to f9 and nobody will tell you that this was not a prime lens:-)

@@photigy Thank you so much for the quick reply! Okay... I do have a 50mm prime and a Macro 85mm (but I have a crop sensor)... so I guess I misunderstood what you were saying... a prime lens is best And if I understand correctly now, it's the angle in which you shoot the bottle that matters? Shoot with a prime lens and from a lower angle? is this correct? thanks again for your videos!

Tks for the video but I don't get it (I mean about the lens). When you shoot bottle (that size object) what lens should I use: 85/90 mm or 35/50 mm focal ???
@photigy
@photigy 3 года назад
Depending on what the outcome shall be ;)

@@photigy Can you be more specific? To me is the fact that I don't want to have distortion (or distortion to be negligible).

Would using a larger surface for a table also work? To me, it looks like the reflection is coming from the edge of the table.

Larger tables will interrupt with the lighting, so no

You can use 50mm for this also yes, but this won't give the same perspective ;)
