IMHO The White Bezel on the front grille is perfect.Paying Respect to The FJC family Granddaddy..The Immortal FJ40. This simple Modification should be required by any owner. Love your channel and your onscreen chemistry.Thumbs up!
I'm buying one!!!! Basic maintenance 👌 no problem with upkeep and this truck is underrated! I'm going 6" lift with a 26x16 American force wheel on a 35" tire.
Hey guys. Nice to see the old FJ. Here's some info on the stay bar disconnects. I contacted the guy about having some made for my FJ some years ago. He told me he was not making them anymore. That's a real bummer. Fjs are really flex challenged. Steve from So Cal.
Not sure where you guys are located but looking at that rust on your frame and underbody you should really coat that with some Fluid Film or Woolwas or something similar. It's amazing and keeps the undercarriage looking young.
Thought you had done more to your FJ. I definitely want to change the headlights to LEDs you installed. I will have to check out that Costco fridge. We have the RCI skids and a different fold table on the back door. I changed the panhard bar and the rear lower control arms with Resfab ones. Looking at putting Billstein shocks for a 2 inch lift soon. We have 119K on our 07 and we are the third owners (and last). Have you thought about doing a video on the maintenance you did, whether it broke, or wore out or you just decided to upgrade with an after market part (I know you listed some)?
Why have both the 4Runner and the FJ? It sounds like the FJ came first. Was the 4Runner just a round 2 build? Are you getting rid of the FJ at some point? You should do a video on FJ versus 4Runner and which one you prefer for certain vehicle items/options.
Goofy looking? I guess I’ve lost confidence in your opinions now. The FJ Cruiser is the MOST awesomely designed off-road vehicle, PERIOD! (At least IMHO). Nevertheless, don’t just fish to get kudos from the Jeep haters at the expense of this awesomely, handsome, rugged-looking vehicle.
the Smittybilt gas can holder- how did you mount that to the spare tire carrier? is there an adapter for that, or did you fabricate a plate mount that uses the wheel stud positions? Love your videos. Thank you for your time.
Hey Wanderlost Overland, thanks for the video and advice, I love your FJ!. Just wondering as an FJ owner in the salt belt, given all of the upgrades you've put in, do you have a plan to handle the frame/under body rust? Cheers! PS, do you mind linking those sliders?
Mark and Marri since ur FJ is over 235K miles how many times have u change the Automatic Transmission fluid..drop the pan and change filter or just drain and fill?.. i ask because my FJ is approaching 100K and i don’t know if I should just drain and fill or change the filter as well....thank you....u guys ROCK!👍🏽
Thanks for watching Mel! We didn't do anything with the fluid up until around 190,000 when we started experiencing the infamous shudder. At that point we had our dealership do a full flush with all new fluid. that took care of the shudder and all is well since. I think with our 4Runner we're going to have it flushed at 100,000.
Thanks for the FJ walk around hilarious and informative as always, I remeber 2 years back when I was searching for solutions on a kill switch and came across your stabilaty hack video, been subcribed ever since. Keep up the awesome videos. BTW, which is better off road you FJ or 4runner?
Thanks for watching Marc! For offroad use the shorter wheelbase and better approach angle make the FJ a bit more nimble. But the interior space of the 4Runner is a winner too!
You two are pretty funny. Dunno how I found your channel but I just subscribed. I'm considering getting larger tires on my 13 FJ and will need a BMC. I don't have a lift and would like to avoid getting one at least for the time being. The tires are 33.5x10.5 which are 2 inches taller than OEM but the same width. Pizza cutters!!! I think I will need at least one inch of chop. Did you get that when you chopped? How many inches were you ultimately able to gain from no-chop to second chop. I can't find this info anywhere. If I can't do these particular 33's without a lift then I may consider 285's which are 32.7x11.2. I think those have a chance of no-rubbing with a BMC and no lift. Thanks and I look forward to getting caught up on your videos.
I think you'll do fine with a just slight chop with the narrow tires. It's normally the width that causes the problem. The reason we had to do such a drastic chop is because we're running 1 1/4" wheel spacers so our rims clear the brake calipers. Let us know how it turns out!
Could I ask for help on something? What is the thickness of the fender flare 2” or 3”? Don’t have mine anymore and trying to dial in the lift without exceeding a 3” lift. (Been running 35’s for so long)
Nope, sorry no video on the net. One of these days we may produce one though. The mount is one we fabed in our shop. Sorry, no video for it either. For it we bent some thin sheetmetal and bolted it to the dash behind the trim piece.
