@@rudewhipz6199 , I can't speak to the 4.2 SC engine reliability personally because mine has the 5.0 liter SC engine. It has 114,000 on the clock, and still running strong. The general consensus is that the 4.2 engine is a very reliable engine. Every car has it's flaws. The cooling system/cross- pipes/water pump are the biggest weakness on my model. Buy from a certified Euro dealer if you can, or an owner that can provide a extensive service history. For the price, and if in good condition it is nearly impossible to find a more awesome ride!!!

@@rudewhipz6199 , if its a private individual/seller i would ask for service records, ask if they don't mind a pre- purchase inspection by a certified dealer. Don't want any nasty surprises. One seller was trying to sell a flood damaged Mercedes, and lied about it here in my city. Dealer helped me call them out.
You would rather have Bose than Bowers and Wilkins? Man you really need to research quality HiFi. B&W are one of the world's leading high end hifi builders. Not some high street trash like bose. The B&W surround sytstem in Jags has won award after award. Autoexpress magazine and what hifi magazine rated it the best in car audio system available. Post 2011 models got a 1200W 17 speaker version.
I bought a 2012, 80k, xf 5.0 supercharged last year. So far it's an incredible car. Extremely quick and fast. I've owned a 1987 Buick we4 Turbo t type ,a 2000 mustang gt, a. 2016 6.4 scat pack charger, among
7:06 RU-vidr: Looks at the best OEM fitted sound sistem in the car world, only matched by the HighEnd version of Burmester "Never heard of it, maybe they should've sticked with Bose."
You would think that a car video channel would take a minute or two to read up on the car they are about to review. Didn't bother with sport mode, thought the ridiculously high end B+W sound system was inferior to Bose but didn't try it, confused a 360 horsepower V8 for a V6, doesn't know the difference between polished aluminum and stainless. Didn't know what the power distribution module was. Seemed surprised that the battery was mounted in the trunk. Shields? They are fender vents. How did the heated and cooled seats hold up after 10 years? Oh wait, you didn't try them. Didn't determine if the parksense system still worked in spite of noting the presence of the rear sensors. Called the stainless grille "honeycomb". How can you determine how a car holds up after 10 years if you don't bother inspecting the structure and underbody? How did it drive and handle? Still precise and tight or were there problems? Were there any strange chassis noises? Didn't bother to check. But oh no! The paint has some scratches! The headliner is sagging! And you say you SELL CARS? I'm assuming that when someone asks you a technical question about specifications your answer is "Gosh, I don't know. I'll have to look that up." Wow. Just wow.
My 2009 Jaguar XF Premium Luxury bought new and is still a pleasure to drive (128,000) 14 years later. Never gets old or boring. 100% dealer maintained and Ford B2B extended warranty. Exclnt B&W sound. No plans to stopping as a daily driver or selling. She will be the last car I will own. I have looked, but 2021-2 cars are shallow techy junk compared to my Jaguar.
It’s hard to believe how this this design is 10 years old now because it’s held up pretty well (except for the infotainment screen). They actually still sell a facelifted version of this car today, so it’s probably due for a redesign in the near future.
Actually up from 2016 it is no longer just a facelift, it has a whole new aluminum chassis and new engines, infotech, everything. Only the name XF stayed the same.
I own a 2009 XK, 2011XF and they have held up great over the years, most of the interior issues are owner related, The audio system (Bowers & Wilks is top of the line system).
Hello, I like your video. Just got myself a 2010 premium luxury supercharged, about 2 months ago. My Jaguar is in very good shape in inside and out. Nothing is broken and falling apart. I got it from a Jaguar dealer and I just love it. Super Super awesome car. I guest you will have to look for a single owner car, garage kept and a proud Previos owner. That will make all the difference. I always have been a fan of Jaguar, this is my first one, with 57 years of age, I am in love with this car. If someone is considering it, buy it and you won’t regret. God bless you all
looking at a dark green xfr 2012 and it has 86oookms on it, i her the control arms water pump and even the supercharger is prone to breaking and needing replacing them.. idk if i should get just the xf n/a instead so i dont have to worry about a busted s/chows your car holding up so far?
Agree totally, I've just bought the same car, 09 plate (for those in the US that's a 2009 model) and it's mint inside and out, just the odd scratch here and there which is to be expected on a 12 y.o. car. I've never seen one with a loose leather dash top, but few cars from that year had leather at all. Not a huge job to get it stuck down again.
I live in Charleston . I drive a 2010 Jaq XF Premium 4.2 with 78000 miles. I'm not surprised you did not know what B&W sounded like...but I'm not bashing you on it..you should have listened to it..you would have learned. We love our Jaq
I’ve got the dash warp issue in my 09 XK from the Georgia/Tennessee sun. They fixed the issue in 2010, as the leather had only been wrapped around the front 1/2” and glued, they stapled it and added a bit more length 2010+. About to hit 200,000 miles though!
@@jacobwebb8818 it held up great! Let it go at 220k with minimal issues. Took delivery of an 05 XKR with half the miles. The only big thing it had was a coolant line blowing underneath the intake manifold at 210k, which was about 1200 to tidy up.
@@DudesaidMIKE awesome!! I'm looking into getting a local XFR 2012 with 176k miles but I haven't seen any major issues with reliability on these things and I'm so excited to (maybe) get one!
I have had a 4.2 liter, 300 HP 09 XF Premium for 12 years, 107K miles. To date has been a very good car. Excellent mileage, up to 28 miles a gallon on the highway if I keep my foot out of it, 25 MPG with my foot in it. Bowser Wilkins Stereo system is awesome, great separation. I've had Bose systems in my Corvettes, MBenz S Class, and SRX and the Bowers Wilkins system is far superior. I have the same metallic Indigo Blue as you test car with the same interior. Interior still looks new in my car. Difference in my Jag and the one in the video is I have factory chrome wheels that make the Indigo Blue POP. I still get complements on my car everywhere I go.
Great video. I've just bought a 2009 XF and I think this is a great concept for a video series. It's easy to find new car reviews but there is precious little information out there about buying a used car, and with even 10-15 y.o. larger cars still costing thousands it is both a big investment and a gamble, with little to go on but a short test drive and service history. I would say that in the rear interior I wouldn't think this is typical, as I've mentioned lower down there are plenty of pristine examples around, and 150k is a lot of miles to cover. Don't be put off by the trolls, Bowers & Wilkins are a premium British audio brand, known primarily for speakers and headphones rather than in-car systems (in fact I think the Jag deal is their one and only), but if you ask 9 out of 10 Brits what B&W made they probably wouldn't have a clue. I could name 50 high end brands that this lot have probably never heard of so I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised that nobody in the US has heard of B&W. If they had any sense they would have realised that too.
"Let us know in the comment section what do you think..." What do I think? I think someone who hasn't heard about B&W their entire life and also has no idea what engine is in the car they're reviewing and how much power it develops should definitely find something else to do.
This was just a quick overall view of a 10 y.o. car, why didn't you get that? You can't cover all the bases. You could put 1000 people in that car, 999 wouldn't have known, and in fact the V8 models are very rare even in the UK because here most people can't afford the running costs with the high price of fuel. And why would anyone reviewing cars in the US have heard of a small audio company from the UK? They're not known for car systems and I doubt that there's a single other car in the US that has such a system installed.
In 2009 the V-8 had 300 hp. Supercharged version had 420. Next year they went to the 5 liter with 385 hp and supercharged version with 470hp. Bowers and Wilkins is fabulous and beats most systems in sound quality. Great car.
hmm I googled it and I see what you mean. I've never seen a Ford Falcon on the road here in the USA before, but I'm sure there's a few that got imported in. Pretty sure Ford & Jaguar were working together many years ago. so that's probably why.
@Alexander Melendez None. Dpf removed. Remapped to 330hp. Timing belt, bearings andwater pump replaced. Using only shell v power diesel and Valvoline synpower oil
My XF 2011 is still going strong, have it for 9 years, I'll drive that beast until it dies on me. Well maintain, 105k miles, I don't see myself driving something else anytime soon. Highly recommend it to someone in the budget since they're pretty cheap now.
@Sinister I'd say a couple. The ones I experienced personally are the phone not connecting to car Bluetooth anymore (3 years ago, common, irreversible, an phone update ruined it), and the tire pressure giving constant errors,(couple months ago, easy system reset by Jaguar dealership). Besides it, I'm still driving it, still going strong 115K + miles... And I still recommend it.
@@Mr__Sinister There are plenty of UK reviews and even a few in Australia also a South African guy who has comprehensive review of his 3.0 V6. In the UK and Australia we had the 3.0 D V6 with heaps of power and torque 202 kws 600 nm which can be chipped mapped to over 300 bhp and 700 nm torque yet return 45/50 mpg on a hwy run. I believe Ford sold the motor in the F150. You maybe be able to import a Japanese spec on via Be foward which has a HUGE number of low mileage cars.
@@jdwynder i have a 2011 and can't say a single bad thing about it. You definitely should get the supercharged homie you'll have a blast driving it around
Wow... this one is in pretty horrible shape to be honest. The leather coming up on the dash and the headliner falling down? Have never seen that before. This one seems like whoever owned it just didn’t care lol. Also B&W is a phenomenal system. They offer other systems, _yes_ ...but B&W still deserves recognition for the amazing system it is.
first off bose is over priced trash...second bowers and wilkins is amazing they are 1 of 2 of the only speaker technology owners in the smithsonian museum b&w nautalis tweeters are 1 martin logan electrostatic ribbon speakers are second...also jags originate from england so does b&w so its a smart match ...i recomend doin a lil research before video production lol
lol i like this dude.......hes the kinda dude that if he's at your house and you godda run to the corner store...lol you can leave him there and dont have to lock your shit up in the bed room......or make him come with ya cuz your wife is there. he'll just sit there and be very respectful.
I think there’s a lot of people that are interested in buying decade old Sport/Luxury , high mileage cars with special engines/super/turbo , sporty suspension etc ... then customizing them. As long as none of them have their own unique major issues going on ( E60 M5 for example ) So.. this will be a good channel idea. Just make sure to point out the major issues that the car possibly could have. Cause you could get one for cheap, but 2 months later you end up with a problem that costs half of what you paid for the car itself! Wouldn’t get this car unless it wasn’t at least the R though... you can find them around 20k for a good one.
They are decently reliable if maintained. The service and part costs may be on the premium side, right there with MB, BMW etc. Biggest issue is rusting, unless you go for the models with aluminum body.
HOW?!?! can you NEVER??? in your entire life have heard of Bowers & Wilkins??????????!!!!!! One of the world's absolute best speaker manufacturer. And you can't hear the difference between a V8 and a V6?!?! And you didn't even try the sport mode "S" or the 🏁Dynamic mode button??? The car is a completely different animal with those swithed on.
It's not difficult to understand. Most people have never heard of B&W because they're not a name you'll find on the high street. There are hundreds, probably thousands of speaker manufacturers out there who most people have probably never heard of. They're also a British company so probably not that well known in the US even amongst experts. I don't understand why most people are not able to work that out.
9:20 Problem with Headliners? I have a strong feeling the previous owner/s of that Jag is/are (a) heavy smoker/s. Even the peeling of the leather on the dash board is an indication of that.
First of all where is the W in Jaguar this is in a very poor condition I have a 2009 there is no damage very little wear and is almost mint condition this car you have videoed has had a very very hard life. The entertainment system is a very high quality in the UK but as your American is why you don’t know it so don’t knock what you never heard of. The interior is all leather. That’s master fuse box and there are twi more in the car.
@@Neil542 No! lol, BMW and Jag, take turns on reliability, maintenance and repair costs. It all depends on the year. This model of Jag, is cheaper because it's more Ford. However, earlier, and later Jags aren't, and are at top of list for "don't buy, lease only" cars. BMW, is mostly consist consistent.
As with any car, try for one with good maintenance records. You can usually tell if a car is well looked after. Or find a good mechanic and have them look at it before purchasing. On all these nice cars, maintenance can be expensive. Budget at least a few thousand to get it the way you want it.
For your knowledge Bowers and Wilkins is a famous high performing loudspeaker manufacturer just your American ignorance! The BW 70 was a veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy expensive highly regarded hifi speaker any audio buff would know
This XF was not the 420hp superCharged Edition. The supercharged version has a dual intake system with wo intake hoses leading directly into the intake manifold. This car was likely one of the lesser base models. Also on the trunk lid there is supercharged badging in crome, Definitely not polished aluminum. ; ) I’m actually on my way to go purchase the 420hp SC make f the XF. 0-60 4.9 secs. YikeS!
I'm sorry to hear that Gaynor. I'll be doing a live stream in a few and please come say hello. As you may know I have Kidney problems myself so yes I can understand the pain your in. drink lots of water to flush them out. Cranberry juice etc or whatever your Doctor has said to do.
