Now perhaps I'm being a tad bit dramatic when I say that it's a "forgotten panther car." Although you don't see anyone really giving this generation the light of day. These were all junked, after being used by cops, taxi companies, and then the general public. That was, without a doubt, the majority of the '79-'87 LTD sales. Some would argue that this one never had much going for it, but it has a fantastic motor, and it is fantastic to drive. I should say, it isn't my favorite generation of panther greatness, and with good reason, but we do need to save a lot more of these. Because once you rid the world of a piece of history, of any kind, you can't ever bring it back...

I am a 15-year-old, who knows a thing or two about cars. I have always loved working on them, and I expand my knowledge about them every day. I've been working on cars since I was 6 years old, and I've had an interest in them since I was a toddler. I have already done a significant amount of work with heavy-duty engine repairs, and as I mentioned earlier, and I'm getting better every day!

My first car i bought in 92 was a 1985 Ford LTD crown Victoria and was my favorite car i ever owned. I bought it from the original owner with 54,000 miles on it. It was light blue with a navy blue landau vinyl roof and velor blue interior. It looked like it was brand new. It was his baby and became mine. Had original motor craft wires and plugs. It was so nice. I'd love to own another one some day

I really enjoy this car. The 351W under it is SO unusual to have in a Panther. Mahalo for sharing so much about this car with us. I hope you enjoy lots of road trips in it. Living in Hawai'i, I miss the road trips I could take on that wonderful continent of yours. Enjoy!

I believe the panther platform is in second all time for longest running platform. Volkswagen beetle is the first.

Stainless was used on the bulk of cars over actual chrome after WWII as there was a huge overstock of it for around 30 years 😀.

Vw beetle was longest actively marketed car platform.

Another thing I liked doing with my cars was to install nice speakers in them. My thing was to remove the old, single-cone or whizzer-cone speakers made of paper and replace them with a speaker with a woofer and a tweeter combo NOT made of paper. I liked polypropalene materials they had in Infinity speakers or the thick and stiff woven stuff they put in speakers by JBL. I was also FAR TOO obssessed with making cassette mixed tapes and CDs. Whew...thank heaven all that crazy music is on my iPhone now! Now...if I only lived somewhere i which I could take a really decent road trip! Embrace the grandpa-ness of your ride, and let that stereo blast on your long, memory-making road trips!

You know, I STILL make mixtapes VERY frequently. I find it incredibly enjoyable! I really appreciate that we share this love for the car... Glad you liked the video, you'll see more of it for sure. Hoping to go on a road trip this summer in it. We'll see

Cool car 79 was the year that ford reduced to catch up to GM one of my first jobs out of H.S. 1985 I was a service department Porter at a west suburban Ford dealer in ChicagoLand I drove a lot of these and other makes I don’t recall what sales Pitch Ford used to promote this generation of LTDs I thought they weren’t too bad I know Chevy claimed back in the day that their new downsized 77 Caprice /Impala now had more interior volume then the 76s I said BS to that because I am 6’5” since I graduated and my knees were always bad since about middle school but growing up we were a Ford family in the 70s a new LTD CountrySquire every 3 years lots & lots of room now when the new LTD generation came out in 79 and I drove those at Ford I felt a little cramped when compared to a 78 or older LTD but hold on hold your horses in my opinion Fords best LTD years was 69 & 70 !!!! Why room room galour and talk about ergonomics if that term ever existed back then the 69 & 70 had the most unique & cool & praticle driver cockpit instrument Panel it was sporty & cool and made the driver feel special they should of kept it for 71 & 72 but didn’t they went backwards in my opinion

I noticed that when you started up this 1982 Ford LTD, it made no warning sound at all. Did this 1982 Ford LTD originally come with a chime or a buzzer?
@TeenMechanic
@TeenMechanic 2 года назад
Yes! I just removed it a few weeks ago. I was working on the interior, and it drove the crap out of me, so I took it out. I still have it though...

I love that car, but it would be better with a 302 351w guzzle gas bad. That is a nice car.
@TeenMechanic
@TeenMechanic 2 года назад
I'm quite surprised by how "good" it is on gas. It's a big V8, and it gets like 15mpg-ish combined! The penalty over the 302, isn't enough to make we want to down-size. At least not right now, lol

@@TeenMechanic wow that is good the one we had only got 9 miles to the gallon on a good day lol.

Maybe. I'd say bring some extra coolant, hoses, and engines just to be safe. But yeah, should.
