Thank you Darius for your review of The Purple Pig and I have always wanted to dine at the award winning restaurant. I think it's very enlightening for you to show how they obviously treated you indifferently and I don't like the the fact that you had that kind of experience at a place of such notoriety. They really have to get this " race" stuff together and learn that we want the same treatment as anyone else out there in the world and one offense to one of us can easily be seen as an offense to us all . I will be coming to Purple Pig soon to dine just to see if now if my experience is any better than yours . I want you to know that on this large you tube platform that you have people who are very distinguished diners like yourself that that have back who admires your restaurant selections and go to the restaurants that you recommend. The Latinos in Chicago really have a disdain for Black people in Chicago, but all they’re going to do is make it hard for their employers. But why would you want to go to support a place with mediocre food, possible discrimination and service? We gotta do better

I love your very honest reviews and your personality, especially after a few good spirits and how you let us know it's just your opinion, to try for ourselves. My hometown is also the Chi, but I am a Houstian now lived in Houston longer than Chicago. I am so, so glad that you wrote that note on the back of your ticket. They need to know that they need to be held accountable for bad service, sad that we still in this day and time have to deal with unequal treatment, but since we do we need to call it out. Keep up the wonderful, enjoyable reviews. Maybe I'll run into you one day in Houston if you haven't transitioned to Bali yet... I hear that the Flying Fish in H-Town is really good... It looks like a converted old gas station. I haven't tried it yet but will be soon.
Did he say that the reason for the difference in service level was because it's just you? So you have to be two or more in order to get good service? That's okay Darius, their menu seems schizophrenic anyway.

I took my son there many years ago. It was a tapas restaurant with a large eclectic menu. There really was nothing memorable about the experience. My son is 29; we went when he was either in junior high or high school. I haven't been back.
Hi Darius I luv the honest review I live near Chicago and I'm always looking for great places to dine. Your review helped me to say no to this place. I was disgusted at how he treated you. Even when you gave him a do over he still was defensive but never took the time to explain or make you feel welcome. I luv your note on the back. In cases like this I tip but very low I agree with how you did it. It comes across so much better plus I'm a believer I can't bless you for mistreating me because it says you're fine and what you did was alright. Bless you Darius I love your feedback and reviews ❤
Do u wash your hands after u touch them menus & I'm not being mean. I watched a show years ago & they said menus, gas handles & grocery cart are the most nastiest.
Purple Pig is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. I’ve never ordered any of the items you’ve gotten except for the kabobs but I hate that the server was rude to you
You should not pay for a dish that’s salty. I would have asked for them to take that off of my bill. For you to pay for a dish that you didn’t like, doesn’t bother them because even though you didn’t like it, you still paid for it.

This review could have gone way different if he had better service, even IF the food is sub-par..... When you dine out in a fine dining/upscale place, you're not only paying for the food, BUT the experience as well. So, we (Black People) get treated poorly then accuse of being bad trippers when we leave a low or tip.... Just Saying P.S. that server NEVER even apologized when he was called out...smh
@@eugenawoodson3816 as someone that works in service industry i hear people complain about black folks im black as well. i average higher tips than what i hear most people make because i try to provide the best service regardless of what people have on or look like sometimes its out of our control but attitude is everything.
