Here's How Much It Cost Me to Own a Mitsubishi Evo 9 for a Year - Evolution IX Ownership Summary

The Mitsubishi Evolution IX was a high school dream car of mine. Back in 2005 when this car came out as a 2006 model year, it pretty much changed the game. A 4 cylinder econobox that could decimate most expensive sports cars. The Evo 9 is the last of the CD9A chassis, often regarded as the pinnacle for Evo's in the US market. On this episode, I cover how much it cost me to own this car for a year and why the market for Evo's is super hot right now.

I hope you guys enjoyed watching my failure! It was brought to my attention after the video that the car has already been reposted for $2500 more than I bought it for, further proving I screwed up.. Would you pay $22,500 for the car?

Of cousre, i paid high 20's for my 9mr cuz its a sentimental value. Had owned an evo8 previously for 6yrs and im not letting this one go as the 20yr classic mark is coming along making these cars harder to buy and also appreciate in value due to discontinuation.

CT9A chassis, not CD9A. Honestly I think it's overpriced for that mileage/condition. Putting aside all the fanboys stroking their cocks over this because it's the last CT9A, it's been modded to hell, it's got super high mileage, and while you had it fixed, that just means more problems will continue to pop up. Objectively, it's overpriced.
@brianvieane3907
@brianvieane3907 4 года назад
I feel like the market price thing is kind of wack at times depending on the car. Like ppl are trying to sell shitty conditioned mr2s in LA for 8k +. Ppl price them too high then it rolls into everyone pricing them too high when they aren't worth the value. There are exceptions like evos, supras, 2000s Pontiac gtos, Pontiac g8 gxps, and s2000s when they are really desirable.if the car is new enough and has a Kelly blue book value for it, it's a basis. It better be in emmaculate condition if you post for 11k when the kbb says 7500 for an excellent conditoned one. Then you have 160000 mile cars owned by 22 yr olds raising the price just by over appraising their own cars. The exceptions are like classic cars, and like limited edition/rare cars.

Your Evo doesn't even wanna look at you right now... He be like "Dude are you serious ryt now? you could sell me for like 40 grand and someday someone who is a car enthusiast, especially for Evo like me will sacrifice everything just to get me..." I'm a fossil everyone is looking into right now... and you just sold me for under 20? That's a shame... hahahaha xD

So I bought this exact car about 3 or so years ago and it’s been great. Have swapped out the clutch to a twin disk, new alternator, ac compressor, tail lights, headlights and other little things but I gotta say whoever installed the speakers did such a shit job. Instead of just buying adapters and some oem wire adapters they just drilled right into the panels and didn’t measure the rear right so a set of extra holes in the rear deck. Other than those small things the car is running great and it still hauls ass. I’m aiming to get it into the 600-800 HP range later on

Eighteen hundred dollars is $1,800, not $18,000. Please don't use phrasing you are unfamiliar with, especially when your video title suggests you are talking specifically of money spent on the Evo.

Buying Evo 9 in my country and then maintaining it would be more expensive than half of brand new cars, not to mention I won't be able to afford it in any forseeable future. I feel my heart breaking man, I fucking love this car but any measure of common sense speaks against it

That's when you say sorry everyone sold!! You could of got 30 + easy in Cali ..look at the 90' s Supra or Nsx ..its hard to find one for less than 50k in good condition!! Japanese sports cars are very sought after in the car community ...next time do your research bud and love your content!!

20k+ for a car not even making 300 WHP? Don’t catch me with that rarity crap theres more of these cars produced than my Mustang. Way better deal to just buy a Subaru and forge it. DSMs break like no tomorrow.

If It's a 03 to 08 I wouldn't pay more than 10k. Everyone beat the shit out of these cars and many weren't modified properly, driven hard as hell and then sold when they became unreliable or worse. Dont buy one unless you have a good amount of money to go thru it. 5k or more. Also be a mechanic and own a real set of tools you've used to fix all your own cars since your first. If you can't change simple parts or minor services on your own stay away unless you have a lot of disposable income. It will be broken more than it runs good. I had a eclipse gsx and I know from experience. Awesome when they work well but that's not gonna be every day. Do not buy as a only car to drive to work ect. This is a money pit but it is a great car.

Fun fact: In Brazil where E100 is widespread, older flex-fuel cars have a small tank of gasoline exclusively used for cold starts when using ethanol, modern ones have a device to warm up the ethanol before injecting.

High performance cars are one of the worst purchases anyone could make, their depreciation value alone is financial suicide.... But this is the real world. Buy whatever the fuck you want and don’t justify to anybody, just don’t get into debt doing it 💪

I'm sure you meant CT9A chassis, not CD9A. I bought my IX brand new in '06 (still own and will never sell) and am terrified to really add up how much I have into this thing. Probably around $40k in parts alone now, no clue on maintenance costs. At least I've never had any major issues with it - my only warranty claim was for my shift knob of all things, and that's with a 10 year warranty Mitsu was giving out back then.

I’m thinking about getting this SAME exact car. I don’t really care abusing the hell out of it with mods and turning it into a cyborg, I just want to get a clean paint job and wheels and just give it the maintenance it needs to thrive. Literally every car I look at someone’s ALWAYS talking shit or praising why the like something. I try to do my own research and see what’s best for me, but I really dig this car.
