I'm not saying they need to do it, but I am the kind of fan who will literally play that damn story of DBZ start to finish every time they present it to me.
Nice to see a "before you buy" sort of video from the perspective of a non-online player. Im starting to think it might be worth it for me. I prefer more story/single player content
There's a lot of it! The what if scenarios are pretty cool. The way the story mode is presented definitely assumes you know the gist of what's going on, though. It's nice if you don't want the play by play again, but it's very incomplete as a result.
It's done in that style to show off what can be done with custom battle...it blows my mind that so many reviewers missed that MAJOR point lol. So many people saying they were lazy for that but just missing the point 😂@@ColedOne
I found the episode mode to be very lacking. Previous games had you do every single fight in the series, this just picks a few fights for a small number of characters. People defend this by saying that it's for the what if stories, but those are incredibly lacking too. They're all just "what if this one fight went differently, but the story didn't change at all". You've convinced me to check out the custom battles though.
I bought the ultimate edition and have no regrets. I have been saying for years that I would pay $100 for a game that works well on launch, has no micro transactions, no battle pass and it comes with the DLC. This game feels like what makes older games so much better than modern ones.
Are there difficulty settings? Or will this game aggravate the Carpal Tunnel I got from the Zamasu training missions in Xenoverse 2? Will I finally have a DragonBall game that lets me fulfill my DB power fantasy?
As a person who grew up on the budokai franchise I regret not buying any of the Tenkaichi games as a kid. With that being said I did get raging blast2 as well as xenoverse 1-2 . Never really like xenoverse because I prefer using actual characters from the show instead of fighting created characters . You definitely can jump on sparking zero and be great at the game but you will need to spend a few days in the tutorials and practice mode before you even think of stepping into online. Master the tactics and strategies of the game in practice mode and also increase the difficulty of the computer as well and you will be fine
Re the online - I'm in a similar boat as you where I played bt3 on wii casually with friends back in the day but haven't touched it in well over 10 years, but I've just done the in game tutorials and jumped online and I'm having a good time with it. Probably about a 50/50 win rate. The game is pretty beginner friendly and has so many defensive options that can actually stop people mid combo. I tried learning the basics of mvc2 and jumping online when the recent collection came out, and that was a VERY different experience!😂
I think they are supposed to look "softer" since those Saiyan's didn't deal with the harsh conditions u7 Saiyan's did. Peacekeeper corp vs Nazi Germany basically lol

I do no like this game the neglect on the cutscenes and specifically the character select menu is horrendous. The game still feels like it was rushed to be finished in order to come out wit Daima and its a real shame people would wait forever to play this game
Fuck online these days and fuck making games way too complicated. I’m a single player gamer here who enjoys getting into another fantasy on their downtime, I ain’t trynna let a game take up so much space in my life. With that said, I unfortunately had to leave Sparking Zero aside, even tho I was nostalgically excited for it, bcuz it’s just way too steep of a learning curve and they made that shit way too complicated to enjoy for gamers like me. Perhaps, in time, with decent updates they’ll make it more accessible for everyone. And yes, they really bummed me out with the lack of storytelling, idk if they would do something about that tho😒🤦🏻♂️
this game is still a fighting game with that, there is going to be the worst most obnoxious metas and players sweating the fun out of the game from day 1. If you hate fighting games DO NOT PLAY ONLINE. i promise you it will quickly suck the fun out of the game because of the whole every gamer is a pro now thing.
Honestly, just do dp battles. The dp system makes pretty much any team viable. I main the ginyu squad and am doing pretty great for someone who usually never plays online because of exactly what you're describing
Yeah I'm not a fan of the postcard style storytelling. But i can go back and play the older games too, so as long as the fighting is top notch, it's not a deal breaker
The game isn't setting out to become more than what its foundations are imo. It's Tenkaichi 4 with super characters and slight tweaks to gameplay. Also, the animation is fantastic. I give it 7/10. Tenkaichi 3 is still better imo.
Them being too underpowered is such a stupid reason to not include certain characters. Most of the OG Dragon ball characters are at least 100 power level, while someone like Raditz is 1500. The main cast at the end if Z has canonically reached the billions. 😂 If Nam is underpowered compared to Goku Super then the same goes for Raditz.
The Gameplay is Superb it’s a mess to get your head around when you 1st touch it BUT!!!! Once you get into the depth of these Mechanics Ohhh Boy……it’s a decent fighting game right here and the Love for a Good DBZ Experience is a shining testament to the fans of this Franchise 🥰. Some of the characters story cutscenes are ugly as hell lol but again these in game animations are damn near Perfection 9 outta 10 👌🏾.
the online is alot of fun. Im fighting game savant, but i have been doing alright, and even when i lose i still found myself having fun (except one time when a dude swept my entire team with Goku Black.)
As much as I love the game, it feels strangely out of place in this era. Sparking blatantly feels like a ps2 game dropped 20 years after the ps2 era. I think that's perfect for whay it wants to be, it's just a bit unsettling realizing how far games have come since then
i think we need to think about how streamers and youtuber gamers have changed the way games are played. People complain about games like call of duty being too sweaty , and certain game mechanics need to be changed, but what can you do if more ppl are just getting better at video games now. Its an unfortunate reality because i enjoy playing games online, but not to the point where i gotta go against hackers and streamers.
