Exiling males prevents inbreeding, if a male is the father for four or five seasons, he will be breeding with his daughters, if young males stay then he will be mating with his sisters. This happens in herd and pack animals. This explanation is simplified, it is a bit more nuanced when it is a large pack and there are three or four males.

This is actually quite interesting, because recently it's been seen that brothers will leave together. Sometimes you'll have three-four brothers just roll up and hunt together, and even take over a pride. One male lion, usually the most dominant, will patrol while the others either go in a different direction, or stay with the pride. Very interesting stuff.
Tbf to lions though, they also have one of the most effective systems by having pride's. It's way more efficient to have 1 male and 8 females than it is to have any other number between or to have them flipped. And by exiling the males but having litter's that are almost equally male and female cubs, you can guarantee that the strongest of them survive's to breed more strong cubs down the line, basically eliminating any cases where a mutation would be detrimental to the species and preventing cases as well where cubs are just not strong enough and the species/pride slowly starts to die out. It's really quite a great strategy for a species.
No its not good. Life is shit for them, yes the strongest survive but there are better ways to go about it. In a wild dog pack its the females that move out the pack instead of the males and since males love to smash anything the process is a lot less bloody for a female looking for a new pack. And the strongest still survive because only the strongest are allowed to mate but the difference is they have a much better life. For wild dogs food a guaranteed twice a day since their hunting success is like 90%, when they are actually eating there is no fighting for the food itself, everyone is getting an equal share whether they are young or old, sick or healthy. The only issue Is their high mortality rate, and maybe the fact they are the most feared predator on land so they are forced to not have a single den because when they arrive their prey tries to migrate to the next... well... SOLAR SYSTEM 🤣🤣🤣

There was 6 male Lions who went into exile all were brothers and they United with one another and started taking down pride after pride and having that Brotherhood leadership role in it. They maintained 8 different prides all together. They were called the Mapogos Brothers.
Tigers are surrounded by wilderness and its easier for them to stealth hunt. Lions live on the open plains. Harder for stealth plus they have manes to add to that. Also the prey are more dangerous in Africa. Some band together to fight the lions back. Lions also have to compete with other pack animals like Hyenas and Wild Dogs. So lions become pack animals

@@dexsterbles1064 cheetahs also live alone with few exceptions. Any way that's not the point. Lions have big flaws like sleeping 22 hours a day not taking part in hunting. They are even less active than the lioness. And their life is sad, most of the lions die starving.
There's several reasons why male lions don't hunt when they're on a pride or being used as a backup, first they're much stronger, secondly they're the only one who can breed the lioneses, third without any males in a lion pride means no teritorry for them because they're too weak without males. And fun fact, Individual lion is much weaker compared to a tiger since tiger has more muscles and much more bigger than a lion even for african lions. So theconclusion is, Lion pride depends on male, not female. With these fact you can say that lion built for team work which is also good for an example to us. And tiger, the only tiger who hunts alone is the stronger tiger, meaning that weaker tiger ALSO build their own group to protect each other. So you didn't know about lion coalitions? There's a very good series about it , I don't remember the name but the lions were referred to as "Mapogo brothers" , I highly recommend to watch that documentry
Actually scar and mufassa were literally brothers. It's not the same as non-related coalitions. Lions give birth in a 50-50 ratio of male to female cubs apparently. Means there's a high chance of multiple adolescent males being evicted from the same pride at the same time that would be brothers and cousins. They stick together usually and try and conquer a pride together
