You're correct. This mode is not random at all. Not chaotic. It has its own learning curve with positioning, etc. I play dropshot as much as I play 3s and 2s. It's part of my main game time in RL. I'm only c1 - c2 level in 3's and 2's and that's another odd thing about Dropshot. For some reason it's harder to rank up. I'm only d1 - d2. I checked statistics a couple months ago and it was the only mode with no players in SSL

dropshot is a mode where you need comms. solo queueing is just bad because as soon as any of you double commit on your side its either a goal or lots of damage,

3 pros need to team up and become the first 3 to SSL. Feel like this would be a huge achievement even tho it’s not the main game mode on rocket league for most players

Sometimes i use dropshot to warm up for 3v3. Its usefull for me cause normally in dropshot you cant afford to let the ball hit the floor when its going high % & above your head in unconfortable positions so it helps me warm up that confidence and mechanics to fly for the ball when im not confortable with it

You should do a video with Garrett or someone you play with regularly without coms but record each others pov and compare the two and see if you guys match. Like an example would be you say sometimes “he should leave it to me” and see on his side if he said I’m going to leave that for squishy. I think it could show the players thoughts at high level solo queing.
