In this video i show you what it's like driving a car with gullwing doors with a Bricklin SV1. Gullwing doors have been around for quite some time but are a rare site to see, at least from the factory. When talking about gullwing doors, many thing of the Delorean or the Mercedes 300 SL, or even the new Mercedes SLS, but very few know of the Bricklin SV1!
The Bricklin SV1 offers the gullwing door experience at a fraction of the cost compared to the cars i just mentioned. The example in this video is a 1974 model year which is equipped with a AMC 360 cubic inch engine, which is mated to a 4 speed automatic transmission
Try to capture the experience and flare of gullwing door cars is difficult, however, i hope that using a gopro POV camera will somehow depict gull-wing doors and just how special and rare they are.

The gullwing doors actually take up less space to open than conventional doors as they go up rather than out. They are a better design for the super narrow parking spots of the 21st century. Especially for sports cars where the doors are usually long.

I was actually thinking the doors on my Delorean don't even need a foot of clearance to open.

Yeah I was about to say the same thing, I've seen it tested before. Gullwing doors are actually more space efficient and allow you to park closer since they are hinged about a foot into the diameter of the roof so the point of rotation is further to the center of the vehicle. Some cars though have butterfly doors that are connected in the same spot normal doors are, and those are the ones that require more space.

It has been screen used.. ig. the Junkman - Deadline Auto Theft - Smokey and the Bandit pt 3(in the back in front of the meeting spot) - corvette summer - Demon Seed - Cannonball II (in the parking lot) - Fast Company - Hobo with a shotgun.. and a lot i havent seen 😛

as said by Stansmith4054 wasent when it was new compared to ig the Corvette - but for a "few" USD you can create a 408CUI - then roughly 300bhp.. and for 5-7k USD you will get a bigger carb - a complete topend kit for Edelbrock incl. mounting and then incl. the 408 kit app 10k incl. mounting - you are looking at 450-500bhp real...

This car was displayed at the Museum of Science & Technology in Ottawa Ont. CANADA! I saw my FIRST one their as a 10 yr old kid in 1972?....ANYWAY it changed my life (long story) and I always LOVED the design!There where ONLY 3 owned locally by ONE guy up in WAKEFIELD Quebec! At 60 I may just buy onf finally....Blaaaahahaha!

better be fast - they are finally rising in prices :-) 1974 for the first - 750 app with AMC 360 CUI - then till the end late 1975(a few sold as 1976 models think roughly 20-30) were all Ford 351W with Ford aut just like mine(a semi project now)..

Someone is selling this for 10k lol I just thought I’d look this up. He called it an AMC Pacer but a different car came up on google. This is what I found when I looked for cars that look like a DeLorean haha. Maybe I should get it

LOL!! How old is this guy? He was literally surprised about the finger lever to take the key out. That is second nature to me, Many cars had those in the mid 70's to mid 80's. Then he speaks about the transmission not having special quick shifters or anything. Haha. I was cracking up. Has this guy never been to a classic car show?
