Not true I work in a chemical manufacture facility as a chemical tech we make our own electrolyte fuel for these battery’s and so do most company’s idk what this guys talking about in the video. Just thought I’d share that

Big Oil always uses these horrible polluting lithium mines as one of their talking points against renewables not worth it, glad the mainstream can see what they actually look like. Also, like he points out, the batteries are only 2% lithium, that's not very much needed per battery.

krlitos Mining has to be done for every Car produced, regardless if its gas or Electric, the difference is Electric is better for our Air/Atmosphere, then it's just a matter of developing Recycling Chemistry/ Procedure/Legislation and Power that Recycling with Renewables. Related, look up Ambri Inc. and Both their Liquid Metal batteries and New Efficient Process for refining Metals

The process used to produce copper is the same as lithium. Saturate ground which is rich with copper sulfate with water, let it dry up in pools to crystallize. And you don't here anyone complaining about copper mines.

Big A I completly agree and what's more important is for the batteries to be recycled the same with everything. we need to change the way we do things we can reuse recycle products fix products as well. 30% of co2 emissions come from manufacturing therefore we need to have a society that fixes instead of throwing away

The magnesium sulfide is used to separate the lithium into an aqueous solution. In addition they suck the minerals from underground and put them into pounds so they sun can dry the solution into salts. Wow you really didnt pay attention pal. I'm an electrical engineer, what prevents recycling? It's just a a metal, melt it down. I understand it has carbon in it, burn that. Does the electrolyte prevent it? I've never understood why these wouldn't be completely recyclable. Is it the energy that it takes to recycle it so monumental that it's not cost effective?

All this talk about lithium mines killing animals just like any other mineral mine, but neglecting to notice that unlike coal, lithium is like lead in the sense that it's highly recyclable and like lead, straight mining from the ground will of course be severely reduced once there is already enough lithium circulating around the world market to viably recycle, just like how lead from lead acid batteries are typically recycled nowadays.

Oil used to seep out of the ground before people knew what it was. Los Angeles even has a tar pit. Not too long ago, a capped offshore oil well started leaking oil off the coast of California. It had been abandoned because the owners believed it had dried up. I say Use it or lose it!

To be fair though, the comment: "colors only women know the name of" is based on science. One study suggests that as many as 50% of women and 8% of men may have the type of fourth color receptor whose sensitivity peak is between the standard red and green receptors, granting them a significant increase in color differentiation. the batteries aren't made at the mining site, as with most mines it probably isn't in a place convenient enough for storing equipment and bringing in all the manufacturing staff

Import restrictions only apply to completed vehicles. Iconic JDM cars are often disassembled and sold as kit cars, so if you're handy with a wrench, you can order the engine parts and assemble it yourself. Or pay someone else to do it for you

Excuse sir I beg to differ: Chile has the talent, infrastructure and resources to produce batteries under competitive standards. It could even be sustainable if it took recycling into account from the start. They could also take advantage from solar energy building panels across miles of desert. What holds them back has to do with other factors.

Why bother with solar pannels taking up all that wildlife habitat when a nuclear power plant is a postage stamp by comparison produces steam and some radioactive waste as a byproduct. The latter if stored properly will never cause a problem for anyone. And can also be recycled. Solar is for houses and building where transmission is a non factor. Not for giant habitat destroying projects.

@@BlueGoblin1 Electric Vehicles in REALITY are far worse for the environment. They damage our natural habitat creating longer term pollutants. There is a real dirty side of Lithium mines. Politicians always close there eyes for the facts.

The Boric government is putting time, money, energy and people into creating battery factories for large size models that can capture energy for solar plants. Tesla is not the target for Chile, if we start producing batteries its gonna be for large size batteries for factories to store energy. Now to understand why they are not worried about exploiting this area yet, the mining focuses on massive volumes of extraction and exportation to the whole world, they think that their energy must be in reaching those volumes before slowing down to produce detailed tecnologies such as batteries… Now I do think both products can be done without affecting one and other, but these guys dont want to get distracted I guess 😂

The Process is a Little Primitive, maybe the Ponds are Not Needed if you Use Solar Powered Centrifuges, Filters, Pumps etc to remove Water. Plus have Their Own On Site Big Lithium Batteries.

Chile does not possess the largest lithium deposits in the world. That honor belongs to Bolivia, mainly concentrated at the Salar de Uyuni salt flats. It is thought to have over half of the world's reserve of lithium.
