When I was a Captain for Norwegian I think I ran across the character who threatened to sue you, my interaction with him was also distasteful. I won’t talk about it on the internet as you might guess his reaction.

It was cheaper to repaint, retrain, and start a new branch of the airline then to sue you.

I flew Norse premium in July 2023 from JFK>OSL - all Oslo based crew and when I told them I had just done a marathon itinerary BNE>CBR>SYD>CGK>DOH>JFK they looked after me super well, moved me to a quieter spot in the cabin etc etc. Their service was the best I’ve ever had on a low cost carrier and was on par with QR/QF business service. Not to mention the flight was only $550USD!

Noel--you're most kind and charitable for describing the Norse flight as "good value for money!" @ $1700, the food was sketchy (I note the hockey-puck "quiche" for example) and the lavatory worse so! Seat looked decent, though, so there's that! cheers until the next one!

It's a bad precedent to sue journalists for making honest reviews. If anything, they should be taking onboard criticisms to improve their service. I flew NAS twice to NYC in the past, though my first time was in the midst of the 787 Rolls-Royce fanblades saga, which led to the usual 787 being substituted by a HiFly A330, then there was that 737 MAX Transatlantic to SWF that could do with proper IFE and WiFi, and the airport was further away from NYC, which necessitated booking transport separately. Then later, the MCAS saga began, which pretty much finished off NAS's long haul aspirations.

I like your videos, as a curious sort and a pilot, I decided to look at Norwegian UK and Norse, I'm not seeing anything obvious that it's just a shell gave and rebranding. You did not say that it was, but you do imply that or I inferred it based on my ear. I'm not a researcher of corporate structures, and of course maybe some got hired over for skill set or whatever, but the main players named for Norse have backgrounds elsewhere. I could dig into serial numbers of airframes, but I would rather start a fresh coffee and chase away the remnants of yesterday's 6th beer. I have a mate who was a pilot for said previous airline that ceased to exist. One fine day he tried logging into the rostering system to check his schedule for the month ahead. Couldn't get in - access denied.... strange right? Calls up another pilot mate at same company. He couldn't get into the system either. So they called their mutual mate who has contacts in scheduling.... He checked it out and found that HE was locked out the system too. A few phone calls around and it turns out that said airline were ditching a bunch of staff including pilots. No announcements or letters, you just found out via the grapevine. Anyhoo, a few weeks later he gets an email from HR.... ah, a settlement and redundancy package you might be thinking. Nope, he was TOLD to "dry clean your uniform and send it to HQ via courier at your own expense please". That was it... no settlement, no redundacy, just intructions to return all his Norwegian issued work clothes/pilot unifrom etc. So we he went and had everything meticulously dry-cleaned and plastic wrapped.... .....and sold it on eBay for E350 as a self administered redundancy.... Never heard from them again and is now flying for a much better more reliable operation.

Noel, we flew on Norse in late February from Gatwick to Orlando, then back from Miami (early March) either side of a cruise. Here's my observations: Gatwick-Orlando first. check in - the Premium (which we flew both ways) was really no different to economy, even though there were fare fewer passengers (no 'premium feel' to it); the departure gate feels like it's MILES from the departure lounge (somewhere near Redhill!). The aircraft: a 787, first time on one for me and really enjoyed it. Closest thing I've found to my much-missed DC10s I used to make a point of flying. Cabin Crew: All Gatwick based, UK crew! We were looked after by a young guy called A.J. who was EXCELLENT from start to finish. Food: not the best I've had, but certainly above average for airline food these days. Loo: it's just an airline bog tbh.... (??) Seat/Space etc: couldn't fault this. Could get in and out past my partner without her having to move at all. In-flight entertainment: A bit too US-centred for my tastes, but I found a couple of films to watch which passed the time. We landed about 30 mins late due to a near-200mph headwind after passing over Ireland, but wasn't a problem for us. Miami-Gatwick: Miami airport is CRAP. Very poorly laid out, food offerings not up to much (wish we'd got the Brightline train back to Orlando and flown home from there tbh!). Check in again lacked a 'premium feel' - and was more impersonal than Gatwick. Left about 15 mins late as there was an air traffic issue. Cabin Crew: All US, and US based, crew. The female members of the crew were fine. The male 'members' literally couldn't give a toss. Cabin service was rushed and if you wanted anything after two hours into the flight, you had to press the buzzer rather than order on the entertainment system (as we had on the way out). It then took nearly ten minutes (geeky, but I timed it) for anyone to respond. What's my feeling about the two flights as a whole? If we had taken the US-UK leg first, I would probably never want to fly Norse again. The saving grace for them was down to ONE person - AJ our flight attendant on the UK-US leg out from Gatwick. However, we flew both ways in a very large premium economy seat and space, with good food, drinks etc included for HALF the price of Virgin or BA on the same routes (I checked and priced it all up before booking). That was a HUGE saving and meant we could enjoy premium economy both ways, not just the overnight back home. That said, Norse does need to address its inconsistencies which seem to come down to where the ground and cabin crew come from or are based. My sister in law and her husband also flew Norse late last year and one of their cabin crew teams were all from Costa Rica (!) and had little empathy with English speaking passengers. If Norse were much closer in price to BA and Virgin etc, then this would be a MAJOR issue.

Flew LGW to MCO Orlando in Premium Economy with Norse last Sunday and was impressed overall - way cheaper than Virgin and BA were offering - as for the food, we may have got lucky as it was pretty good, Chicken and Mashed potatoes wih veg and then a Smoke Salmon with cous cous as the 2 offering on the way out and on the way back Beef Teryaki and a Cheese Omlette for breakfast. all very edible and decent enough. Miami airport is a nightmare from memory

I've flown both Norwegian Long Haul and Norse, Norse about four times now. My first experience with them was actually because Norwegian had gone under and I had some miles that I could still use with their short haul operator. When looking for a flight over to redeem my rewards I found Norse, flying all the same routes on the same planes for slightly higher prices. My experiences with Norse have all been very positive, I have never opted for their premium economy but rather exit row traditional economy and I have never had anyone fill the third seat. I don't love the wooden cutlery, I find I can taste the wood, but was served something very similar. That being said in traditional economy it's $50 for the two meals, $5 for the blanket in his seat, $80 for a checked bag, $30 for a carry on and so on. Over all I would recommend Norse to someone who doesn't need the perks of a full service carrier!

Hey Noel, I've never tried Walker's crisps but at HEB you can find their house brand kettle chips with salt and vinegar. They are amazing! You should give them a go. Cheers from this viewer who lives 20 minutes from IAH!

Are you waiting fir your next letter. I don't understand airlines...you pay for their product and they should deliver. Safe trip.

Great video. Crazy that Norwegian previously threatened legal action. Far too often top brass forget that everything rises and falls on leadership. You were simply revealing the results of their shortcomings.

In case you might be wondering Walkers is owned by the American company Lays which is owned by the American conglomerate PepsiCo. Walkers produces 11 million bags of crisps PER DAY in the UK.

If an airline threatened to sue me for publicising genuine flaws, I'd avoid them like the plague too.

I really miss working on the ramp. Seeing all the planes. I worked at Tampa Airport from 1986-2003. I have been on a lot of older planes.

Great video Noel. Norse was like ex-Norwegian Air Shuttle and LCC long haul. Not as many passengers can afford to fly on AA, BA, or Virgin Atlantic to the USA from London. ETIAS was a new thing for travel to Europe. I prefer LCC short hauls in Europe.

Noel, I’m not on instagram but if reaches you, the socks I received were wonderful and perfect for the recipient. Who, maybe worrying, but looks just like your logo. So thankyou! I’ll keep watching of course 😊👍🤠❤️

I purposely scheduled a 6-hour layover in Heathrow when I flew Ghana > London, London > US. At Heathrow, I ate scones and croissants and read a novel. Best time.

I was gobsmacked when you said, other airline fares start about $2K. In the good old days (1986) I flew 'People Express' 747 non-stop, San Francisco to Brussels for $99. The other airline fares for the same were about $450 return. Ps Sadly, we just don;'t find Great British sausages in US. Cheerio!

I flew Norse Gatwick to DC last summer and the biggest issue was the check in queue. Even though I was three hours early people on flights leaving earlier were able to skip. As a result flight left an hour late. Doesn’t seem to be as bad now that they’ve cut routes, wasn’t as bad on the return leg either as there was only one Norse flight leaving. Especially irritating as I only had hand luggage so having to check in at the desk seemed completely unnecessary.
